Awesome Phone

Nov 30, 2006 by jester989

I've had the phone for over a month now and I cannot put it down! I am constantly downloading content from Cingular or lasyk.net.
The combo of upgrading my memory card to 1 gig and the 2 mp camera allows me to shed the weight of my ipod and digital camera. Aside from some low volume issues with the speaker I am very satisfied with this phone and would recommend it to others interested in a walkman phone.

I love this phone!!!

I have this phone and i love it!! I just want to say that you can use full MP3's as ringtones not to mention if you get a ringtone maker somewhere online you can make your own as long as songs are under 35 seconds they work on any phone capable of recieving them and with the memory. My roommate has the old razr that is not an MP3 player. I have made my own ringtones(for free mind you) and then put them on my phone and bluetoothed them to hers. Its just simple common sense, most ringtones are between 10-40 seconds so if you shorten a song then it will work!! Try it i promise you will save a ton of money!! I have a 2 Gig memory stick pro duo card right now and i currently have about 300 songs and 300 "Ringtones" that i made.

Excellent Phone

I sold my Cingular 8125/HTC Wizard to get this phone. I wanted a smaller bar-style phone that works better as a PHONE.

What an upgrade in signal and call quality! I no longer needed all the features of a pocket PC, and in my opinion this is the best bar phone available.

I am not a big mp3 fan, but Walkman is fun, and works great for what little music I do listen to. The FM radio is fantastic! For me the battery life is acceptable, but not excellent. Almost as good as the Wizard was. I'm getting about 3 days with mixed use. The phone works fast, it does not hang and drag like the Wizard or Moto phones do. Push a button and it happens NOW, not in a few seconds. Camera is better than any on a cell phone. Minor little disappointment; it should have come with the 1GB Memory Stick, rather than a 128MB. But hey, at least it CAME with one at all! Otherwise, NO complaints!

This might be the first phone in a LONG time, that I might keep beyond a year's time!

Great Phone

I'm giving this a 5 because this is why.

All the reviews I've seen in here are people bitching about the phone and how you can't use full mp3 ringtones or some crap like that...honestly...THINK ABOUT IT, do you think Cingular is going to let you completely BYPASS their service so they make no money...you're nuts.

The things that I hate about unbranded phones though is that when I try to go on the internet i get charged since its not through medianet BUT sonys browser. The phone has great sound and the music sounds great. Volume, I agree can be turned up a bit but since I'm not trying to provide music for an entire household, the sound is good, prevents me from going over the sound quality threshold.

The camera is good for a phone, good for random point and shoots. sure the pics look grainy but its a freaking 2 MP image on a 1440 by 900 resolution desktop. But its a good camera and you don't need to carry around extra stuff, just a camera/mp3 player/phone.

One sad thing that I dislike about this phone though is battery life. Its got great life unless you plan on using it as an mp3 player too since it will get drained faster with the mp3's running.

So all in all lets go like this.

Quality of Product - 5
Sound Levels - 5
Buttons and Placement - 5

So if you want a good phone for not a ton of money, and have been needing an mp3 player too go with this phone. It's upgradeable and updateable.

NOW if you want full MP3 ringtones and stuff go to somewhere like Newegg.com and buy the phone from there. Just be aware that you lose MediaNET capeability as well as the ability for AIM and Yahoo Messenger.

CAMERA isn't as good as everyone says

This is a very amazing phone...gets the best signal of any phone I have ever owned...

I change phones every month or so (i work for cingular) and this one has the absolute greatest signal I have seen...

ONE problem...EVERYONE talks about how good the camera is...the camera is good...HOWEVER...when looking at the pictures on a computer...they are GRAINY and horrible. When looking at the pics on the phone they are beautiful....same problem with the w600i.....pics look great...but on a computer they are GRAINY.

Although the pics are bad when you get them on a computer...i STILL give the phone a 5.0 rateing for everything else...

VERY nice, close to perfect

PROS:
-got a 4GB card for true ipod replacement (walkman player works great)
-camera looks great
-good call quality, great reception

CONS:
-Cingular branding is truly horrific...makes u go thru medianet for cheapo charges, ringtones/themes suck. get the phone and get it unbranded and youll have a 5* phone.
-fraction of a second lag from when you press the cam button to when it takes the picture.
-not really a 'CON' per-se, but the screen isnt AS good as the K800 or nokia N73 (though still very good)

AWESOME!!!

Great Phone for anyone who doesnt like flips

Oct 18, 2006 by mainelobster

I've been holding out for a while in making the migration from ATT/Cingular to being a full fledged Cingular user. First and foremost I use a cell phone for calling, not a ton of surfing, picture taking, music etc. However, I decided to splurge a bit and purchased the LG CU500. I've always had Nokia non-filp phones before so it was a big leap. I hated the CU500, not only because it was a flip, but the battery life, graphics, and sound quality on the CU500 were terrible. That and I'd like to meet with the genius who designed the navigation menus. So I ordered the S/E 810 to replace it. WOW!! I love this phone!

Pros: Nice size, non-flip, BEAUTIUL SCREEN, easy menu to navigate. Great battery life even with heavy usage. Reception in tough buildings is pretty good (Travel all of New England's major and suburban areas), better than the LG CU500 was. You can use the Walkman on a plane since you can shut the phone side of it off. Sound quality pretty decent, but you will have to bump the memory stick size up a bit. Picture quality was nice compared to other phone pics I have seen.

Cons: Number keys are a bit small, but not too small. I was concerned abut possibly scratching the screen (It' so darn pretty) that I went to Toys-R -Us and bought the screen protectors for the Nintendo DS. Cut one to size, and it looks just as clear as if one of the protectors wasn't on it. Spread the word on that one if you didn't already know about it.

Overall very pleased with the phone and will most likely order others when we hop on the family plan.

A keeper!!!

I really must say, being a phone fanatic might have just slowed down! The w810 is great(blows my Chocolate away)

One gig thing for me is that I can do pretty much whatever I want w/ Bluetooth. The music player is great, like wise with the camera. I mean it is a phone first. Then a camera and music player.

The battery life is incredible, charged it once when I first got it and have been using it fully music and all for over 2 days now. It still has 1/2 charge!!! I will wait and see exactly how long until it dies!

The only con on my end is the keys are a little small, but I am almost use to them already.

Nice Phone.. Needs help

I work for a Cingular Agent company in St. Louis. We just recieved these phones and I have had a chance to use it for the past week. I was turned on to the idea of the w800 when a Sony rep came in to do a product overview for our company. I like the w810 but I was very disappointed in the sound quality of the top speaker. Now in the time that I have worked for this company I have noticed that sometimes it is just one particular device out of many that may have this problem. I love the phone though. The gaming on it is wonderful and the sound quality of the walkman is superb. So overall the phone itself is a great device and I suggest that you give it a test run.
