Nokia 6103

Aug 11, 2006 by gemaster34

Pros:

I got a Nokia 6103 now. Its the best phone ever. I am really "getting more from like" now like T-Mobile says. Even though its a Nokia it has as great of a speakerphone as my Motorola v360. I love its ringtones there loud and clear; real music ringtones. Bluetooth with access to bluetooth headsets and Bluetooth transfers over 2 bluetooth enabled phones. Reception A1 like the steak sauce; I have never had less than one bar it keep signal. With my Motorola v360 it would constantly get dead no signal. Now I get complete 4 bars in my house. Nokia 6103 goes up to 4 bars not six so thats not bad in case you thought, its great. FM radio great. Make my own record ringtones, excellent. Color lcd screen with customized wallpapers on it. Also, the 4,096 color outside lcd does display picture id; doesn't cover the whole outside screen but its good enough for me. Can use the outside LCD of course as a viewfinder after pressing the dedicated camera button when the phone is close. Lastly, it a excellent phone can keep speakerphone on after the phone is closed.

Cons:
When taking a picture have to zoom in after you take the picture.

i swear by this phone

The Nokia 6102i is a great phone because of it reliability .

This is the second nokia 6102i I have had, the first one I dropped down a flight of stairs it broke in to three peaces but to my surprise it was still working, and my call wasn't disconnected.

I have many different phones over the past few years and This phone pick up the best signal with cingular and Suncom in the Nc/Sc region.

Other things I like about the phone is the ability you have to customize it. You can record you own ring tones, customize you main and mini display, it is blue tooth capable, you can send pictures to your email address via multimedia message and also receive messages and pics from email address.

CONs
You have to clear text messages after you send them or they will appear on the display screen after you when you go to send another.
I cant figure out hot to program my voice dialing.

Good keys, low volume

The pros/cons of this phone have already been well laid out in the other reviews. The purpose of this review is another no vote for this phone if you mainly use the ear speaker (not the "speaker phone"). The volume on the ear speaker is too low. Also, the size of the ear speaker is very small, so you have to have your ear in exactly the right place otherwise the volume of the phone is extremely low.
On the plus side, the keyboard is extremely easy to use, and if you mainly use the phone with a headset this may be a good phone, although I did not test the headset volume. We exchanged this phone for a moto v195. The keypad is not as nice, but the volume on the ear speaker is way louder.

Absolute worst phone i have ever owned, hands down

Aug 21, 2007 by Starbelly

I have had many phones over the years and never ever have i had the issues that i had with the nokia 6103. To go along with that, t-mobile was completely not willing to help in any manner regarding the issues that i had with this piece of crap. it got to the point that the phone would randomly turn itself off and nothing-and i mean NOTHING-would turn it back on. the phone was not usuable in any fashion for as long as it wanted, really. Upon calling tmobile with this issue (and mind you, at this point in my ownership of the 6103, this was my FOURTH one), i was told that i was not eligible for upgrade and even though this would be my 5th return and they SHOULD be able to give me a different phone, the 6103 had no "proper replacement" so all i could do was get the 6103 for the 5th time, or cancel my service. i cancelled my service.

CONS:
-Phone would randomly freeze up
-Phone would randomly turn itself on and off. After about 5 months, phone would turn itself off and although the front display was visable, the inside remained blank and no amount of turning on and off/hard restarts would work
-Menus were INSANE to get through. The simplest of things would require going through 10 million different menu options.
-The "rubber" outisde would peel on all 4 6103's i had
-the silver antennae topper came off on all 4 6103's i had
-Volume control could not be accessed from any main keys....you had to go into menu, settings, blah blah blah to access it.
-When phone DID freeze it would take a good 10 minutes to restore the settings. It liked to freeze while texting...meaning the text message i was sending would be erased and i would have to wait 10 minutes while the sim card initialized.

Pros:
The only one for this was would have maybe been watching in satisfaction as the ugly thing sunk to the bottom of a lake.

don't buy this phone..and better yet, don't get service from tmo. they are rude, inefficient and sell complete pieces of crap.

Very pleased.

I have happily owned the 6102i for a year and a half. Having dropped it several times and caught in rainstorms, I'm impressed with it's durability. I've had no glitches. In fact, I removed the back for the first time yesterday just to see the battery.

For basic features, it's as good as can be. The buttons are well-placed and easy to operate even with big fingers like mine. Call reception and signals are as good or better than past phones and friends' current phones (including much more expensive models).

The menu system is adequate but can be improved. I do like the customizable hard buttons for frequent commands that help work around the menu. It's feature packed with things I need like voice/call recording, stopwatch, alarm, camera, speaker phone, calculator. All these work fine, but can be improved. The recorder needs more storage, the camera is very low-rez, and the speaker phone needs more volume. I Don't know about I'net connections, games, etc. - I don't have use for them.

Pros:
Great general purpose phone with extras.
Light weight.
Bright easy to read screen & simple buttons.
Good quality and durability.
Highly recommend.

Cons:
Battery charge could be longer.
Needs more storage for voice recording/pics.

Awesome !!!

Phone:6102i (AT&T)

Pros:
+Design
+Internal Screen Size
+Speaker
+Signal Strenght (AT&T)
+Battery Life (4 days)
+Bluetooth
+Packet Data Conection
+MMS
+Free Ringtones, Wallpapers, and more (Iknowthe web site but i dont know if i should put it here since i cant advertise any thing but e-mail me and ill give it to you)

Average:
+Camera (Not good under low light conditions but above average under good light conditions)
+External Screen (Could off had more color support)
+Cheap Feel (Feels like its going to break if you drop it)
+Video recording (Could be better)

Cons:
+Kinda Slow Menu (Not that slow either but its noticeable)
+Memory (if you think it comes with 4.Xmb memory it doesnt it only has about 2.2mb and some of the 2.2mb its allready used by the ringtones that come with it youll have to erase some tones and graphics so far i have erased tones and graphics and I can take 28 pics and record for 1 minute and 23 secs. but you decide if you want to erase more things to have more available memory phone numbers can be stored in the SIM card)

Issues:
+It Attracts Finger Prints
+Some what Confusing Menu

Worst phone I've EVER had!!

Jul 5, 2007 by seanbrownsr

I had to get a new phone since I had busted my RAZR while with Cingular, so I got the 6102i. That was a huge MISTAKE!! I should've just paid a lil more and gotten something that would work the way I wanted it to. I will never get a NOKIA again. I am on my second 6102i within the year because the first was turning on and off by itself. I'm starting to have the same problem now and more. The memory stinks on this phone as well. You have to delete pics and ringtones in order to take more pics after about 5 pics are saved on the phone. Very little memory. Sometimes when I close the phone, It'll tell me "Insert Smartchip". In order to get that off, I have to restart the phone. In a nut shell, this was a total waste of money and time, I don't recommend this phone to ANYONE!!!!!

6102i Is The Best Phone Ever Made...

Dec 6, 2006 by g0fr888

Nokia is my brand name, I wont buy another brand of phone ever. I've had a Nokia 3595, Nokia 6010, Samsung X497, Nokia 6030, Samsung E335, and now a Nokia 6102i, my first Nokia camera flip. I love the keys and bluetooth is great! Kinda skimpy on memory, my 6030 had the same as this phone!
