Screen is dust collector...

Jan 28, 2006 by AKT6168

This phone is terrible! Well what I mean to say is the dust getting under the screen is terrible. I am on my 2nd t809 and the screen is nothing but a dust collector. I get dust under the screen after only 5 days. I kept it in a Oakley sunglasses microfiber pouch in my pocket and it still didn't help. I am taking this one back for good and picking something else. I'll probably end up getting the RAZR since T-Mobile has no other good phones in the store. I would consider the PEBL but you can only get that one online. I think Samsung quality control should be shot on site for letting this phone get out to the public like this.

SAMSUNG T809 NOT AS GOOD AS D500

Dec 17, 2005 by ZHIAN6310

Good

Samsung t809 is a very nice looking phone it feels much better in my hand compare to the Nokia 6111 it has very easy key board, well balanced and large screen, camera and the video work great, USB cable and memory card was a very nice touch done by Samsung and T-mobile, great reception, due to the 850 being added to the band selection, my coverage increased by 20%, over all if I carried this phone as a statues symbol, it would get some serious attention. Looks better then the ever popular V3.

Bad

T-mobile has locked the features on this phone so you cant load any mp3 ring tones from any other site as ring tones or from the data cable, phone gets extremely hot after about 3 to 5 min of use, I always hated using CDMA phones, for that reason the slide of the phone is not as great as the d500 or d600, it feels like a e635 on steroids, I have used 7 Samsung phones in the past from T-mobile, I have more respect for Samsung r225 then this one, This phone is over priced by $200.00 and T-mobile will be getting this one back tomorrow, by the way if any one has used a Samsung p207 then you would know, to stay away from this one.

Love the phone, hate the sync

I just switched to T-Mobile yesterday and got the two new Samsung T809s for my husband and I.

The phone looks great! The screen is very sharp and the menus are easy to use.

The part that I'm having the most problems with though is syncing the phone to my Mac at home and my PC at work.

I kind of expected that phone not to sync right with my Mac. The phone isn't on Apples iSync compatibility list. But I did expect it to sync correctly with my PC. It comes with the cable and software needed for this.

When I launch the Samsung PC Studio software, the Sync option is grayed out. I'm able to transfer individual files, but not actually sync my contacts and calendar. Very annoying.

t809 review

i'm giving this phone such a bad review because this phone killed my expectations from it. the only thing good about it is the graphics. if you dont care for the bluetooth and mp3 player, you might as well go for the e635 which is even smaller. i expected the talk time to be atleast 7 to 8 hours, but its only 4. anyways, point is, donr waste your money on this phone. i don't like motorola usually, but i will recommend PEBL over this one. if you want to spend that kind of money just buy the PEBL.

Impressed!

It took a while to get this phone, but when I did I was very impressed. Do not go by the phone they have out for everyone to look at, ask to see a working phone and you will realize the sliding feature, though a gimmick, is very smooth and the buttons underneath are very well constructed. I'm one of many who have had problems with the USB Sync, but with bluetooth in both the phone and my PC, I only need the USB to charge the phone. The MP3 player is pretty cool, and the sound quality is decent enough to jam out while on the go. It does suck that the earphone hook-up is not the normal 2.5mm earphone jack but rather an unique-to-Samsung USB-like port (which allows the earbuds the phone comes with to be the only ones that will work for it), but I can look past that.

Also, TM locks the feature to use your downloaded MP3s as ringtones, but by changing the Song.mp3 to Song.3gp, you can work around that just fine.

The first thing you will notice about this phone is it is the same size as the Razr but the feel is much lighter despite being .34 ounces heavier.

The games are high quality, just like the camera, and with 70MB of memory (that's what the phone comes with out of the box), there's plenty of room to download more games and take lots of 1280x1024 sized pictures.

Cons?

I would say my only beef with this phone is there is no quick feature to switch from Vibrate to Loud Ring to Vibrate & Loud Ring like the Razr.

However, the main thing that made me buy this phone is that I don't have to slide open the phone everytime I wanna call someone or do something within the menus. That was my only hesitation in buying the phone and now that I have it I am very happy with the decision to buy.

Best Of the best T-mobile has done it again

Jan 30, 2006 by Byrd

Come on T-mobile has the best customer service in the Country ( as ranked by J.D. powers) ... And why not a good phone to go wit the great service.... Better than a Razr Better than the sprint blade... Micro SD makes the difference... The speakers are very loud and the screen is very big. The t809 is the best phone yet that Tmobile has.... There are not many flaws in this phone...

Pros
Big screen
Mp3 player
1.3 megapixel cam/ Vid
swivel Cam
Loud speakers
Easy pc sync
Mico SD

Cons
Cant get ring tones( can be fixed by changing into 3gp
Gets finger prints easy
No flash so cam is useless in to low light but exellent in light.
Dont get no better than this from the best customer service in the USA..

The Best U.S samsung Available!!

Jan 26, 2006 by ejnc930

As a true cellphone user and supplier I have been using this phone since the day of it's launch 12th of Dec. Now i can definitly say this has to be the best Samsung phone branded for US in a while. It covers the bluetooth and 1.3 MP capabilities. Large Screen and lots of memory!! Not only do I watch my favorite videos and listen to my favorite tunes!!! Family guy only uses 25 Megs an episode. And for those who complain about the battery, compare this battery to a razor's, tha razor cannot do mp3s and doesn't have a screen quality of 252k colors!! you gotta understand these specs, this phone is powerful and awesome any more battery life than you take away the slim sized feature!! If you decide to get this phone make sure a Car charger is purchased because if you utilize the phone to the fullest you will need it!!!
8 years in the Cellphone business and worked for all US carriers at least in one point in my life and this is my first SAMSUNG EVER and am extremely happ with results. I love Nokia but gotta give credit to Samsung for there effort on this phone!!

Now A Recap On This Phone I Understand About Dust And All Get A Cloth From Your Glasses Or A CD player Wipe It Works Wonders For Me No Dust Under The Screen Also Mp3s Could Work If You Convert Them Into 3gp It Will Sound Just The Same As Mp3s Knowing Its Locked For Ringtones For Any Other Non Tmobile Web Sites It Hurts When You Want An Mp3 As Ringtones Only For Tzones Would Work But If You Have A PC You Could Convert Any Mp3 To 3gps This Is How It Works Get Any Song From Your PC Press File And Save As The name Of The Song right after then press.3gp trust Me It Will Work And Will Sound Exactly Like An Mp3 Also The Bluetooh And Camera And Video Is Great So I Hope This Could Solve Some Problems.

Possible Defect in Screen

Jan 19, 2006 by Kingston773

Be careful with this phone and if you notice any dust or debris under the screen don't brush it off as nothing. I've had my T809 for less than 2 weeks. Upon taking it out of the box I noticed what I thought was a tiny, tiny amount of dust under the upper left corner of the screen. I ignored it because it was such a small amount and most phones get stuff under the screen at some point. Well the alleged dust has now become a one inch crack in the screen. I have not mishandled the phone in any way so I'm now wondering if it's a manufacturing defect or possibly due to UPS manhandling it during delivery. I'll be pissed if I have to shell out another $275 for a new phone.
