Great Phone

Jan 4, 2007 by Canfor

I have a Nikon DSLR for serious photography but it's not the kind of camera you constantly lug around unless you're a professional. I wanted a good phone that would also take "snapshot" (4X6) quality pictures and this is the one.

The clarity of this phone is a remarkable improvement over my previous model which, admittedly, was a rather ancient Audiovox, so it's probably not a fair comparison.

I particulary appreciate the intuitive nature of the menus. I did not need to go beyond the Quick Start Guide before I had the phone set up to my liking and was able to use it as a phone, and also take and store pictures on the mini SD card.

Suggestions for improvement?
- a better feel on the active buttons for camera and volume. They're small and flush and difficult to activate.
- a default position for storing pictures. Once you've set the camera function to store on the mini SD card, it should store there until a new setting is entered.

I Love This Phone

As an avid photographer, I want a phone that takes decent pictures without having to navigate a bunch of menus or press a lot of buttons. The Nokia has a better than average camera with flash, video capture, and is easy to employ quickly. Aside from the 2MP limitation, the pictures compare favorably with those of a half decent digital camera. I also use the phone to store and display pictures taken with my DSLR, requiring plenty of storage and a good display. The display is larger, brighter, has better resolution and better color than any of the other phones I considered. The SD expansion slot means I can store plenty of photos and mp3s.
I don't like flip phones, and the slide design allows the screen to be viewed without opening the phone. To avoid damage, I use a thin plastic film designed to protect camera and PDA screens. It's easy to apply and replace, and is invisible when applied correctly. Many of the phone's most used features can also be operated without opening the phone.
The multi media player, while nothing fancy, is versatile and easy to use either with or without a bluetooth earpiece. It has an adjustable equalizer, FM radio, and a 2.5mm jack if you don't want to shell out for a stereo bluetooth headset.
Also essential to me are good calender, note taking, and alarm functions. The Nokia's work well, are easy to use, and include a to-do list feature and a stopwatch. The voice recorder, while quick and easy to use, will only record 3 min at a time and can't be used to record calls - which seems to me to be major and puzzling deficiencies.
One review I read criticized battery life, but I use the screen a lot and talk for several hours at a time without overly depleting the battery. I don't charge it every day and have never had it run out on me.
Bluetooth makes file transfer dead easy even without using the Nokia software, which nevertheless is simple and very functional.
Quite simply, this is by far the best of the many phones I have had.

-Anything Can be used as ringtone
-Love the slide...
-Games
-Bluetooth is very good
-Awesome media player

Over All an Excellent Phone.

Great!

Pros

Great sound quality. Cool Form Factor. Very portable. Bluetooth connectivity. Great voice dialing capabilities. Amazing screen. 2.0MP camera. Apparantly it does MP3, but I have never used it.

Cons

Not so great battery life. Everything is extra when you purchase this phone. Nokia doesn't bundle earbuds, or a data cable, or a screen protector with this phone, and they should.

Bottom Line

This is an excellent phone. But buy a screen protector for it.

Don't get this from TELU$

6265i number one:

Well, I got this for Christmas. From the beginning, the software was overly slow, the battery lasted for about half a day. The battery cover fell off when I opened the slide. Obviously, I had it replaced.

6265i number two:

A number of software problems, camera would not work, and it eventually started giving question marks for icons, and then it simply wouldn't start up.

6265i number three:

Finally! One with fast software, built well. Free from software flaws.

Pros:

Strong build quality.
Nice software.
Beautiful screen.

Cons:

Not much 3rd party stuff for it.
Terrible battery life.
Nokia 6265i #1 and 2
TELUS brands the crap out of it.

Buy it unlocked for TELUS. I learned this the hard way.

Hello. I am an owner of the all black version of the Nokia 6265i. I purchased my phone and new contract from Ntelos here in West Virginia. They were the only carrier I found that sold the 6265i. Its price was approx. $130.00 with 2 year contract.

Pros are:

VERY attractive and unique looking

2 MegaPixel Camera, can take pictures while holding the phone straight up or sideways. It makes people think you are using a digital camera.

Bluetooth capabilities!

Beautiful bright screen with adjustable font colors

Every picture taken with phone can be used as wallpaper for the phones screen

Plays all MP3s and can use them as ringtones

The 24 MB internal memory can be upgraded using affordable Mini SD memory cards. The memory card slot is located at the very top of the phone. Just pop it up and insert card.

Great text messaging features, send pictures, video etc.

Calls can be answered by simply sliding the phone up, or ended by sliding back down. That feature can be turned on or off depending on the user.

Connects to computer with optional USB data cable, VERY handy if your computer is not bluetooth. Transfer all your music and pictures fast.

Call clarity is excellent with no static, even with only one bar of signal strength.
(Carrier is Ntelos. Go here to see my phone)

Some Cons:

This phone has a lot of features so your battery will not last forever. My phone has lasted me between 2 and 3 days before getting to low battery. I am frequently using the camera, changing my ringtone, etc. all which uses the battery faster.

The 6265i does not have Instant Messenger (IM) support. That is what my home computer is for.

Overall this is a near perfect phone for me. I wanted both a new phone and a new digital camera, now I have both!

I connect easily with Bluetooth to my mom's Kodak Easy Share photo printer to print beautiful pictures worthy of an any album.

This is one of the best multi-purpose CDMA phones available right now. I've had the phone for about 3 weeks now, and plan on keeping it for quite a while (this from someone who changes phones about as often as I change my clothes)

Pros:
Beautiful QVGA display
Strong reception, almost as good as the 6019i
Best camera of any phone I've had
Call quality very good
Speakerphone volume and clarity are excellent
Sliding mechanism is smooth and easy to use
Hot-swappable miniSD card, no need to remove the battery
JAVA makes this phone more versatile than many CDMA phones

Cons:
Battery life is average at best
Maximum earpiece volume a little low
Video playback quality is somewhat choppy
No option to increase the size of contact picture ids
Bluetooth profiles don't include A2DP (stereo bluetooth)

Those are all minor complaints, though. This is an excellent phone!

Awesome phone, the BEST!!!

PRO

-Big Screen
-2megaPixel Camera (takes excelling pictures)
-Mp3 player
-Video Recorder
-Slide Style (really cool)
-mini SD(up to 2gig)
-Bluetooth
-24 MB memory built-in
-good speaker
-great reception
-FM radio
Cons
You will need what an adapter of sorts (headset or something else plugged in to the phone) in order to use the radio.

This phone from TELUS is the "BEST" telephone I have ever owned. I have owned approximately 8 phones over the years. Receiving calls on a stereo headset is an amazing experience, just fantastic. Once you have tried it, you will not want to look back. I wanted an FM radio (in fact I was insisting on it), and I have not been disappointed. The sound is excellent (very clear) for radio listening and for phone reception. Sorry I cannot comment on the mp3 player (I'm waiting for a 2GB card which should arrive today).

I found the volume during reception a little low to my liking, but I was able to remedy that by activating the speaker phone (which is loud and clear). No one at the other end notices any changing in the clarity, and at my end it makes all the difference in the world (noisy areas no longer matter). By this phone!!! Absolutely Incredible!!! Thank you Nokia, and Telus.
