lg vx 9800

Mar 22, 2006 by DeeDerT

i've had the phone for about 3 weeks now and its perfect for anyone who is young, fly, and flashy.

pros-overall look, mp3's (no need for an ipod), vcast (if in ur area) nice camera, miniSD capabilities.

cons-no aim, no msn, no yahoo no messengers at all. for all the money and no messengers. you can't save sounds as ringtones.

if this phone had aim, yahoo, or msn it would totally kill the sidekick.

Phone is great...check provider

Dec 21, 2005 by cmar

The phone is great as an upgrade from a regular clamshell LG. But I was disappointed by the fact that LG has property rights to limit ringtone downloads. Your only option is to purchase additional ringtones as "Uses" through your provider. Verizon's Web Apps..Sony, Modtones or Xtones all require USE fees. Check your provider, because Verizon's network isn't supported by WAP, so you won't be able to access SSL either with the WebMail 2.0 as I was led to believe. You'll need sign up for the additional websyncmail for $19.99 per month on top of your normal fees. I like the phone, but the service and capabilities aren't what I expected for the price I paid.

G.O.A.T

I have to call this phone a GOAT. It is the Greatest of all Time. This is Verizon top of the line phone. Call quality is excellent, camera and video are great. The keyboard, which takes some time to get use to is excellent. And I love showing off the BIG screen TV.

Pros: Big Screen TV, Keyboard, loud speaker phone, excellent battery and how it reads your text messages out loud

Cons: Outside screen to small, cost of wireless sync

But overall, excellent phone!

Best Phone I've Ever Owned

Apr 27, 2006 by Jayj2k1

Whats going on ya'll. I've had the LG-VX9800 for about 2 weeks now. I was previously with Nextel and I've owned a lot of phones with them. I formerly owned the i870, which was a decent phone. However, I wasn't satisfied with the slow text messaging and no roaming with Nextel. So, I had to make a switch and now I'm with Verizon. Anyway, let's get down to the nitty gritty!

Pros
- Excellent Reception! Haven't had any problems dropping calls as of yet
- EVDO Network which is fast for browsing the net
- QVGA 320 X 256 screen that is CRYSTAL CLEAR!
- Loud Speakerphone and Earpiece
- QWERTY keyboard. I've been doing a lot of text messaging lately so this is good for me
- 1.3 Megapixel Camera that is very nice for a mobile phone
- MP3 Player with equalizer. BTW, the headphones that come with the LG Music Essentials Kit works well with the MP3 Player
- Bluetooth. Using the Jabra BT250 and it works wonderfully
- Can upload my own ringers, wallapers, etc. using BitPim
- MiniSD card slot. Definitely helps for extra storage. I have a lot of videos and pictures on the card as we speak.
- VCast which is only $15 with unlimited browsing works well in my area. Video clips are also in good quality
- Voice Command features that work flawless including Voice Dialing, Text to Speech, etc.
- Videos can be played back as an internal or external wallpaper
- Ringer & Picture ID

It is so many more that I can't even think of for the moment.

Cons
- Syncing Wireless Email cost $20 a month on top of the VCast package which is $15
- MP3 Ringers can be kind of low with the phone closed
- Verizon UI Interface which not changeable but not really a big deal

Anyway, if you have Verizon and you don't have this phone, something is wrong with you. If you don't have Verizon, you need to get with them because this phone does everything that you need it to do if you are a multimedia junkie (which I am).

Like I said before, this is the best phone I've had and I've been through a lot of phones lol

BY FAR THE BEST VERIZON PHONE IN A WHILE!

Apr 1, 2006 by Hooper999

I have had about 11-12 different phones since I've signed up with Verizon and I can tell you that this is THE BEST phone I've ever owned. Reception is just as good or better than the Moto E815 (for me) and the resolution on both screens is impressive. Not only does it do everything that I need it to, but it's also a beautiful looking phone, very sturdy and well built.

I am able to convert movies to 3gp and play them in full length (wide screen)on this phone with excellent resolution. LG, in my opinion, did an outstanding job designing this phone, I am very pleased.

Yeah, it's a little bulky and a little heavy but so what, I actually like the size, at least it's not a sissy girly phone like the Razr (no offense to those who own the razr). This phone fits good in my hand and it doesn't feel like its going to slip out and fall. I don't see myself buying another Verizon phone for a while, unless it another vx-9800.

I've had the phone for about a week now. I can say that I have had no problems at all with this phone. Having previously the 8100 and had to exchange it 4 times to get a good one that didn't freeze up or fluctuate in any way.

PROS
-Super loud earpeice
-Reception kicks butt
-Very fast texting
-Super bright main screen
-1 gigabyte mini sd slot
-Battery life
-Feels very sturdy in my hands

CONS
-No evdo reception in my area
-No support for bitpim yet
-Barely any getitnow choices of ring tones

Awesome Phone!!!!

Oct 5, 2005 by JENI729

I waited for the LG 9800 to be released and it was definately worth the wait!!! I recieved it yesterday! I love the bar style and I love the QWERTY keyboard inside. I have had great reception so far (and the reception in my area isn't too great) which was surprising with the internal entena. My previous phone was a Moto E815 which I liked but so far this phone blows the 815 out of the water.
PRO'S:
Great external/internal display
Great camera
Great reception
Nice keyboard
Awesome features
Bluetooth
V Cast
Great speakerphone
Well built phone

Cons:
The Display stays red. You can't change it. (like the 7000)
And so far thats the only con which is minor.

LG has made another great phone!! I would definately recommend this phone to anyone who like features and text messages a lot!!! Its by far worth the money!!!! All around great phone. I can't say enough good about it. Can't you tell!!! :-)

Ridiculous Man Best Cellular Telephone Device Ever Man So Good It's Great Man!

This phone is so kickin like kick a$$ it's not funny. I'm coming from the audivox 9900 and I thought that phones couldn't get any better than that until now.

Pros:
texting is cool as a breeze with keyboard takes me a minute to send a 160 character txt while in class! and when I'm not in class it reads my messages to me although it has trouble sounding out some four letter words it still rocks!

Camera I thought cameras couldnt get any better than the 9900 but guess what this one takes just as good pictures as my old 2.2mp camera and the videos are so clear it's like having a camcorder

At first I thought I would hate the bar phone but when I don't have a head set I can hold it on my shoulder just fine A+ so I don't miss the flip that much at all

Signal I hated lg after the 6000 signal the signal was the worst on that phone and most of the time it would tell me I was roaming. Now I can lay my head on the phone and still hold a perfect conversation no cutting out A+

Screens both screens are highly detailed and perfectly clear to read.

Speakerphone it very loud and clear I can actually hear it in my noisy Jeep perfectly

Extra SD memory for movies, mp3's and Pictures come on that's unheard of A+

I don't use bluetooth but if I ever need it well I got that covered.

menu's are so easy to navigate, Phone does not feel fragile at all very sturdy. I never use voice commands cause they never work but guess what on this phone it works flawlessly Kewl Beans! The phone has 3 alarms which I use constantly, world clock, loud ringers strong vibrate, and well lit up keypad It's just ridiculous.

Cons:
The cons of this phone are none other than maybe price but fish don't fry in the kitchen now does it A+ sell your soul or your children to get this phone you wont regret it!

Best of 2005

Oct 15, 2005 by sfo

If you don't mind bulky, this phone has everything.
Picture clarity is amazing, Verizon CDMA makes calls sharp, keyboard makes texting a pleasure.
mp3s sound good (though Sanyo MM-5600 may be a tad better in that department) and if you have patience, this unit delivers more tricks every day. Highly recommended.

PROS
..best keyboard anywhere
..quality/well-built
..EV-DO connections make everything fast and clear

CONS
..bulky
..master sound could be louder

Apples To Apples Not Oranges

Have had this phone for a week now.

Crystal clear calls
even with bluetooth on a lot of battery time
(about 3 hrs talk time with bluetooth on)

Have not had any dropped calls.

Text messaging is great, even though the keyboard looks too small it works just fine.

Bluetooth handset (Motorola with the boom maybe the 850?) is great. a little static at times, but far superior than earlier versions of bluetooth headsets

Only cons is I wish the get it now vendors would get in gear. I had the LG 8000 3 months after verizon got it and there were apps galore. The vendors seem to be dragging feet on this one for some reason as there are not a lot of apps yet.
For the people bashing this phone because it is not a palmtop computer get a life.

THIS IS NOT A PALMTOP COMPUTER. It is for making calls, text messaging, and lite internet surfing. If you wanted something to surf the internet, get a samsung, blackberry, or the pc card.

Stop comparing phones that are different.

BOTTOM LINE:

If you need a phone that makes great calls, does great text messaging, and some lite internet then this phone is for you.

If you need more umph then get a palmtop or the pc card.
