well i bought the phone about a week ago and when i saw it i said " mr. i got to have that phones" it look sleek and sexy but don't let looks fool you

pros:

the best battery life i've ever seen (and trust me i've owned a lot of phones)

come with 2 games

always maximum reception

screens are easy to see even in the sun

best pictures i've ever seen for a vga camera (i'm comparing to the sonyericsson z500)

cool ringtones and for you business ppl. yes! it comes with those boring ringtones

CONS:

WHILE taking a picture you can't zoom in on them but you can zoom after you take the picture

thats about it so go out and test this phone if you like it buy it if you don't look for another phones but don't judge on looks

Great phone - despite T-mobile's attempts to cripple it

Mar 1, 2006 by floodcasso2

I recently upgraded from a Sharp TM-150, and before that, from a Samsung E715. I have been a T-mobile customer for quite a while, and I must say this is one of the nicest phones ive ever owned. However T-mobile has crippled some features on the phone, and I will now have to send it back to Nokia to get it flashed with better firmware. (ill get into that in a minute)

-Pros:

Beautiful Look to the phone, very nice trim and materials used. Doesnt feel cheap at all. Almost Ipod like in its design sensibility.

Beautiful and big external screen. Gorgeous internal screen.

GREAT key layout on the phone. Absoutely awesome for text messaging. The keys are all square, and the same size, and have a great click feel when you press them.

Awesome reception, much better than my last two phones. But that is Nokia's specialty, so no surprise there.

Nice loud distortion free speakerphone. The default volume for it is low, remember to turn it up the first time you use it.

Great menu set up, very simple and easy to use. Great use of the shortcut keys.

Pretty decent camera for a VGA cameraphone. Works pretty well in low light. Pictures tend to come out better than they look in the viewfinder before you take them.

-Cons:

Would have liked an internal antenna since nokia has been doing this on thier candybars for years, but you cant have everything.

Cant set the main wallpaper to be a calendar like my last two phones

No date is shown on the external screen, just the time.

Crappy default ringtones, wallpapers and games. Though I imagine this is T-Mobiles doing.

And the biggest problem of all

I can't load the Opera Mini web browser onto the phone. T-mobile has crippled the use of any java e-mail apps or web browsers. This is unacceptible. Now i have to send it to Nokia to have them unlock/ flash it with the newest firmware to get what i was supposed to have originally. T-mobile needs to stop crippling phones like this.

In closing,GREAT phone! Absolutely!

Nokia 6101

This is a great phone for everday, common uses. I love the text messaging and camera. When I am hanging with friends I can always snap a quick pic to remember the time later on. The text messaging is super easy to use and quick enough I can text during classes when no one is looking. I also like that you can use recorded songs as your ringtones. They might not sound as good as purchased ones, but its free. I also like the sleek small design. I can carry it in my pocket all day long and not even remember its there. I am very pleased with the nokia 6101

The only thing I dont like about this phone is that it doesnt have blue tooth.

So far great...except one thing...

Like everyone says...it's a great phone...i'm not going to list the pros or cons because everyone's is the same and i even looked at these reviews about this phone before i bought it...

everything is great except for one thing...

i've only had this phone for less than two days...and now...the front mini screen is already cracked. I don't think this was the greatest well made phone, feels a bit "cheap"...check it out...

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d93/meebethie/stupidphone002.jpg

and what's sad is that it was the first time it ever dropped, and it only fell like no more than 2-3 inches from the floor...plus i have always been very careful about not dropping my phone, my friends know how crazy i get when i do...

i think after this phone, i'm done with nokias. I had the 6230i before this one and that was a great phone except that it kept on freezing so many times a day on me.

the 6101 is a phone i would have hoped to enjoyed, but if you want a more sturdy phone...i think you should try to find another one

Great Phone

I have this phone for about 3 weeks now. I dropped my Phone accidentally but everythings is doing fine. I've never experience any problem at all.

I love the way it looks. This is my 3rd Nokia Cellphones. Based on my experience having this brand I would like to say, its very durable brand and the money you pay for it, its worth it.

One of the Best

I have been selling phones for over 3 years now, and have used/still use over a dozen phones. The Nokia 6101 ranks at the top of my list of favorites. The 6101 seems to carry great sounding calls with very very little reception. When on 1 bar out of the 4, I hear no static or garbling of any kind. My battery lasts much longer than the quoted 4 hours of talk time; I see around 6.5 hours with a good signal. The EDGE data is alot faster than the gprs I have on my other phones. Overall I am very pleased with this phone and recommend it to every customer. As a side note, activating the automatic volume control will cure the low earpiece volume issue some users have been having.

Pros:
Excellent reception
Longer than average battery life
Large screen
Color exterior screen
EDGE performs well with my carrier
Very loud ringers

Cons:
Outer shell scratches easily
Uses different charger than most other Nokias- must buy different CLA or the adapter
I would like to see more memory for storing games, ringtones, wallpapers etc.

Oh I miss Nokia so much

Nokia was my foundation for cellular phones. They have always lead the way for quality phones, intuitive menus, and of course, reception and sound quality. My last two phones were three treo 650, samsung x495, and the Razr (eww). It is sooo nice going back to Nokia.

Pro
-Solid Reception, nothing but a weight w/o it
-Fast!, Menu as well as the Internet
-Stable, I didn't know phones crash&freeze until I tried others i.e. infamous Treo 650
-Nice form factor, ambiguous in looks and in size; great for men and women
-Ahead of its time! EDGE & PPT, get it together TMO!

Cons- (these are more opinions than cons)
-Camera, I just don't like them in general so until the day it can actually replace a real digicam, I wont feel differently.
-I prefer bar over flip, I find flipping it open more difficult than the razr.

Just got the 6102

I just got this phone on 10/4 after checking around Houston for days. FInally found a place that had a few left. Seems like this phone is being sold like hot cakes!

It's a very nice phone, with a lot of good features. I've read about the low volume on the phone. It does seem a bit lower than most phones, but not much. I think it depends on the reception and area where calls are made.

Other than that, I don't have any problems with the phone yet. Nice rich colors, some limited ringtones, but you can download any tones you want anyway.

Talk time and stand by time is really good and the NOKIA quality is definitely there.

Considering this is Nokia's first flip phone for Cingular and the U.S. market, I think they did well.

I simply love this phone. Nokia is the brand I have had the best luck with. I have tried many others the worst being Motorola. I would agree that the headset volume is low considering you can turn it up 8 notches on the phone. The Speakerphone volume is low while ringing but once talking it is great. As far as having to go through 4 menus to get to the camera, you can make a shortcut. On the ride side of my phone there is a dedicated camera button just press and hold.

About the only complaint I have about the phone is that you cannot zoom before taking the picture. Other then that the picture quality is excellent.

I have seen this on many sanyo phones and would like to see more companies put LEDs on their phones so you can actually take a picture at night.

I am very glad I bought this phone. I have been waiting very patiently for it to be released in my area.

Nice phone

i just bought the nokia 6102 for cingular 9/19/05. Cingular is now selling them. I live in the NY/NJ area

pros
1. nice sleek sturdy strong phone
2. camera is nice
3. vibrate (not that strong though)
4. EDGE
5. customizable features throughout the phone
6. speaker phone
7. good reception
8. cheap
9. its kool that the mini screen can be animated

cons
1. not loud. its hard to hear the other person on the other line b/c its so low.
2. does not tell me how many bytes are used once i finish from the web
3. u have to zoom after u take a picture

i like the phone, but i want it to be louder. it's a little confusing with trying to set graphics and images. everything else is solid it seems
