nokia6101

I like this phone. Switched from PEBL.Although PEBL has great looking design and great speakerphone, Nokia more adjustable to everyday use and has clear phonebook without some a lot of bugs that we found in PEBL software.
probably the new model even more better, 6103.

Satisfied

I've had the 6101 for about 3 months now and I am pretty pleased with it. The problems I do have really don't bother me too much, but I think they could have included a few better things.

Pro's:
Battery life
Camera
FM radio
dual jack ear peace
speaker phones

con's:
Memory
software speed

The con's of the phone are only little things to me, because I've learned to deal with it. But it does become a problem sometimes. The speed of the phone is kind of slow and I've memorized the navigation in my phone enough to get to a location without even looking at the phone, and having to wait for the software to catch up. And the memory is also very limited. I text alot and find myself having to clean my messages twice a day.

The pro's of the phone definitely out weigh the con's. I use the FM radio all the time and having the dual jack headsets is great. Picture quality could be better, but i already have a digital camera for that. Speaker phone quality is great and very loud, I would recommend this phone to someone who needed the speaker phone for hearing issues. Everyone gets upset about the T9 not remembering your latest words, but its easier this way to me.

Over all, this phone has done me good. Its very reliable and easy to navigate. Looks could be better but I'm happy with it anyways.

Great Phone with Great Features

My brother recently bought this phone and I decided to see what it was like and it is an amazing Nokia phone!

Pros
-Seems to have good reception as my brother said
-Camera is great!
-Good size and pretty lightweight (definitely not heavy)
-Very stylish with the black and silver
-Changeable faceplates

Cons
-Takes awhile to get to a menu and somewhere else on the phone. There is a little delay which can be an annoyance to some people

That's pretty much it but I would recommend it and it's a good price for Cingular! Great job Nokia!

Love it!

We have had this phone for a while and I never really though anything of it until I wanted to get a new camera phone. This phone was on sale so I checked it out and ended up getting it. I love it! It is by far the best phone I have ever had.

Pros:
Looks great
Easy Menu
Decent picture quality
EDGE
Customizable external display (i love that)
Great reception
Awesome sound quality

Cons: (only 2)
Can be hard to hear at times
My ringer changes back to original Nokia on its own every once in a while

I have the 6101...

and I LOVE it. Best phone I've owned (and I've owned a dozen or so).

Pros :
Crystal clear sound reception
great battery life
good camera
good display
good menu organization
No blue tooth (yes, a PRO.. Blue tooth looks STUPID and is a waste)
IrDA
Clamshell design
NOKIA brand
Good volume (unlike prior post indicate..)
Voice dialing is nice
memory is MORE than sufficient if you get rid of unneeded stuff (games, some of the pre-loaded graphics, etc)
does its job well
ability to use MP3 ring-tones
and - most of all.. IT'S NOT A RAZR

Cons :
None that I've found so far

Great for me but for my Husband...not so much

Apr 12, 2006 by NokiaFreak

My Husband and I both got the Nokia 6102 in October and I absolutely love it! My Husband However has had to get two replacement phones since then....an additional $100.00 on top of the original $200.00 he spent. Why?... The mini screen on his first one got what appeared to be a crack under the glass of the screen that sent a spot spreading through the screen, now the replacement he got is doing the same thing on the Main display. It's to the point where he can't even read text messages or see his address book. He is very careful with his phones; keeps it in a holder on his belt so it doesn't get damaged when he's working on cars or at his auto parts job, has never dropped it or treated it roughly in any way...So Why did this happen? The rep I spoke to at our insurance company told me that "The phones can get that kind of damage simply by opening and closing them". What else do you do with a flip phone??? I treat mine with the same care so why did his do this? Twice no less? I noticed that a bunch of other people have said that the same thing has happened to their 6102. Has anyone else gotten a better explanation than "Using your phone as it was intended will break it"?

Pros: Over all good phone.Good Camera, great personalization options, easy set up for anyone familiar with Nokia, light weight, stylish.

Cons: Unexplainable, Phantom Breaking

GREAT phone if you can get it for free, expect to pay for it with repairs and replacements.

great phone

i just got the 6101 from tmobile about a week ago. It is the best phone that I have had made by Nokia. It gets good reception the camera on it is great. I also like how you have a mini display and that you can have to different pictures at the same time. Also the loudspeaker is awesome. The only thing the bugs me is how you hit the main menu takes a couple of seconds and the fact that you have to have a head phone for the radio. But overall the phone is great

Great Mid-Range

coming from v400 i bought nokia 6102 [reception, battery, design]. my other two picks at the time were rokr [music, expandable memory, nice light effects] or the sony ericsson z520 [bluetooth, interface, gaming, adequate memory]. ruling out the rokr b/c i-tunes being too tempting of a distraction, time consuming [usb 1.1] and battery consuming. edge being the determining factor between the 6102 and z520 when i google glm and mms. automatic volume control works well, though i don't know why it's turned off from factory. memory is low but i don't need a catalog of games, just a couple good ones to pass time if needed. also sending my pictures via mms helps remedy that issue some. speakerphone is very clear, small speaker so yeah it's not good for ringtones with heavy bass effects, break beats and techno work and sound cleaner compared to my friends nextel phones. the customizable GoTo feature is the best shortcut feature i've seen thus far. my only real gripe would be the lack of bluetooth but i'm not accustom to it. great phone, haven't hit a dead zone that dropped a call yet, can't wait for the next version.

Is there volume?

I owned the Motorola V180 before the Nokia 6102 and it was a great decision as far as software and camera specifications. The volume, ear control is horrible. You can hardly hear the person on the other line. The phone only allows you to go so high which isn't very high. If you have a hard time hearing, then I wouldn't get the Nokia 6102.
