AWESOME!!

Sep 12, 2005 by jenn617

Okay- first thing... this phone is awesome!!! But for the RS-MMC you HAVE to have a DUAL voltage RS-MMC. Most of the rs-mmc are only single voltage. So that's a little disappointing, but at lease you can add it.
I have sync it to my outlook and the screen is awesome- it tells me on the standby screen what I am doing that day. You can turn that off if you want- Menu-Tools-Settings-Phone-Standby mode- Active standby off :)
This phone is the best, but I still wish I had the N91- oh well someday. Until then, this will totally do!!
I recommend this phone 100%!

So much to uncover

A returning nokia buff, I had fallen into the motorola trance since xmas, when I first purchased the phone I considered it only mediocre..after playing with it for about three hours I fell deeply in love with the mulitimedia features, the only camera phone that I own that could EDIT videos right on the phone or on the pc, add backround music, speech clips etc etc etc. I loved the camera, the reception and how much I could customize the phone to do EXACTLY what I want and to LOOK exactly how I want it to look. Its perfect, the size was an issue but my new motorola h700 is the greatest headset I have ever used.
Overall this is the favourite phone of all my 18 phones!

6682

Awesome phone! Everything works well, doesn't freeze up like 6620. Camera is sweet.
100's of feature I'll never use, I love it.

But. And I'm sure brian7531 will agree with me. The phone won't read a 512mb rs-mmc and that SUCKS! I got my 1 gig mmc for my 6620 OVER A YEAR AGO. And now I have to use a 256 card? Overall bad decision by Nokia to go to rs-mmc.

Still an awesome phone though.

The 6680 (not 6680 or 6682)

Jul 30, 2005 by Ktollstam

I picked up an unlocked 6680 in Singapore and am using it with my Hong Kong based carrier (CSL). I am US based, but spend a lot of time in Asia. The 6680 is like the 668X except it is 3G and has a camera in the front. This is the best S60 product I have seen or used. It has flash version 3.04.12 which is close to the latest version (something like 3.04.57).

Pros:

1. S60 UI and features. Menus are quick. I have yet to explore all of the features.

2. Reception - classic Nokia reception that blows MOT and others away.

3. Battery life is impressive for a phone like this. Much better than the 6600.

4. Display is very nice. 1.3 MP camera works very well.

5. Form and feel is very nice.

Cons:

1. The earpiece volume seems a little low. There is a small hole at the top of the phone for the speaker. You have to position the hole just right to get maximum volume. This is a minor issue.

2. The keys are a little small (to allow for a larger screen). The 2 key is tucked under the 5 way control. As with any phone, you have to get used to the feel of the keys.

3. Hong Kong and Singapore are far more advanced than the US with regard to GSM infrastructure.

This phone's got it all...

Nokia finally made a phone with all the features that I've always wanted in a phone. They have put it all together in a format that is easy to use.

I really only have three cons:
* I set up a POP3 email account to send and receive email. I thought the phone was defective, but it turns out email sent from Yahoo.com does not open on the phone. Email sent from MSN.com does. I don't know why...
* As far as the flimsy cover over the camera, I've seen most phones don't have a cover at all. So a flimsy one is better than nothing at all. But I do suggest an improvement in this department.
* All my music is in WMA format. The player will not recognize those files. I have to convert all my music to MP3. That is going to be a real pain.

Here's what this phone is really good at:
* You can send and receive POP3 email, WITH ATTACHMENTS. You can view Word, Excel, PDF, and PPT files. (with MEdiaNet service - only $20 a month, compare with blackberry or Treo at $40 +)
* Listen to music. It seems like a very easy player to use. Since all my files are WMA, haven't really been able to test yet.
* You can view web sites. I read the news, sports, check weather, look up local phone numbers on Yahoo local. It's a very useful service (MEdiaNet), I recommend it.
* The camera works great with adequate lighting. It won't replace my 3.2 MP camera for high quality photos, but I gotta tell you, my 3.2 MP camera is big and NOT convenient. I'll always have this camera with me, because it's in the phone.
* You can sync your calendar, contacts, to-do list with Outlook. The calendar and to-do list is actually functional. You can display your daily appointments on the main screen and not have to scroll through endless menus to get to it.
* Memory. You can download files for personal or business use and take them with you. You have a call that someone is missing a file, no problem, look up the file on your phone and email it to them!
* Has video, but is low quality.

GREAT PHONE!!!

A satisfied user

I think the previous posts praising and commending the phone are accurate, and pretty much sum up my feelings on the 6681. Most important to ratify in my opinion is the overall quality of the phone (less the lens cover, as added by most posts. But, better with then without.) Its clear that Nokia did not cut back when designing and manufacturing the this model.

I had a particular grievence with Nokia though because on this phone: I dropped it while from my ear to my desk (while using it - shoulder-height to my desk while sitting - about a foot and a half drop) rendering the memory card useless. Just about any key I pressed afterwards returned an error message "unable to read memory card. Remove and reinsert". Yes, I know, I dropped it. But it wasn't a major drop, more like a tumble. and you know Nokia phones - they can generally take a good tumble. I brought it to an authorized dealer (where i bought it) and 15 days later am informed that "signs of oxidation indicate that liquid must have entered the phone voiding the warranty", and the phone was therefore "Unrepairable"! After ranting and raving and pretty much threatening to take hostages (the phone was only 2 weeks old), I realized that the phone was working normally, and quieted down. Haven't had a problem since then, so I retract my complaint...
Pros:
High quality phone. Worth the cost.
Sybian OS. There's no going back.
Reasonably good battery life, light sensor a good feature to help conserve power.
Great display, good camera quality, but doesn't replace my dig. camera.
Size: Who said bigger isn't better? Personally, I prefer a full-size phone rather than a dinky mini or flip phone.
Very flexible configurations

Cons:
2-touch unlock feature.
Voice Command button on top-left side not programmable. (As far as I know). Would be a very handy button for other features.
I don't like the ring tones. I know there are many to choose from, but a few basic tones would be great.
Oops, out of space.

Extra style

Sep 21, 2005 by linda75ny

CONS:
-Design and high-class finish
-Active standby mode (Today screen)
-1.3 MP camera (GREAT QUALITY)
-Lens protected by an active cover
-Stereophonic MP3 player
-Improved internet browser and email client
USB memory card reader, part of the standard package

CONS (they are very monor. that's why I give this phone 5 stars):
Works with RS-MMC Dual Voltage cards only
No radio (Nokia can make one)
Dictaphone's capacity limited to one minute

I love this phone.

Awesome

Well, I've only had this phone for 3 days now? But I've pretty much used it to as much as I'm going to.

I bought this phone from cellularchoices the people were really nice and all.

My mom bought the same phone so yeah. It really appealed to us because of it's compatibility with Asian networks. And we visit India every other year. I was first looking at the SE w600 since I really wanted a music player. The SLVR was absolutely out of the question just because everyone would have it and the speaker quality was really, just gross.

Speaker sound is absolutely amazing. I save my music in mp3 format so the wma DRM thing doesn't bother me at all. Camera's great. It works a lot faster and works more intuitively than my Sony Cybershot (the one in that commercial with the rock star)

The size doesn't bother me at all. I personally don't like the tiny phones because I like to have something in my hand. It's actually a lot thinner than I thought it would be. The weight of it is really nice too. It weighs a little less than an ounce more than my last flip phone which always felt like a plastic toy to me.

Reception and call clarity is awesome too.

This phone is really customizable so, extremely appealing to a young person like myself.

It's something that you're not going to get tired of quickly with all the apps out for Symbian 60.
