Great phone, but..........

Apr 29, 2006 by justinu

I've owned this phone for 3 days now. It's the unlocked European version I purchased on ebay. The whole reason for me buying this phone was because it's thin like the RAZR and it wasn't a flip phone. I have nothing against flip phones I just wanted to try a bar phone again. So far this phone has been great, I get a lot of compliments from all my friends on how nice it looks. One of 2 things that bug me about this phone is how quiet the speaker is. Prior to this I've been using the V620. Both speaker and speaker phone was very loud at max volume. The second thing that bugs me is that I can't transfer anything from my itunes onto the phone. It shouldn't really matter though since I have an ipod anyway. Other than those 2 concerns this phone is fantastic.

I LOVE THE SLVR

Apr 3, 2006 by RMonson

I had the RAZR and it was ok, but then one of my good buddies RJ1 bought it. From the moment I saw it I new I had to have it. The Itune option, the way it dominated the RAZR to the hand held dialing options. There wasn't a flaw about it. I always joke to my friend that the RAZR is better cuz I don't want him to know that I made a mistake buying it instead of the SLVR. I now know the errors of my ways and purchased the SLVR... I LOVE IT!

Very nice

SLVR, Will You Marry Me?

Mar 28, 2006 by Anxiovert

I am so in love with this phone; I wish I could marry it!
I was always skeptical about a bar phone at first, because I always used flip phones before. As soon as I held it in my hand I knew it was a keeper. I love the fact that I can put it in my pocket without any annoyance (I hate having things in my pockets) but sometimes this phone scares me -I don't feel it in my pocket sometimes, and I think I left it somewhere.

Pros:
-Nice size
-Keypad won't dial numbers while in my pocket (that easily) I have no need to lock my keypad, as a matter of fact I haven't even bothered to learn how to do it, because I don't feel the need for it.
-Beautiful color screen.
-iTunes.
-Bluetooth works like a dream.
-Airplane mode.
-Battery: OMG this thing keeps going and going and going...
-Quad-band.
-Reception.
-Cingular service in the state of Fl -even though not completely integrated- is terrific.
-Keypad easier to use than that on the RAZR.
-Screen has a film -or something similar- to protect it from scratches.

Cons:
-The ear piece could be a little louder. It's not as loud as my v551 (a software update should fix this) so I'm not sweating it.
-Videos are a bit choppy, but this is normal on all VGA cameras.
-Headphones won't stay in my ears :(

One Mistake in the Phone Info Section

Mar 27, 2006 by cwosigns

I've owned this phone for a few days. Bought it from Cingular. I do want to point out that it DOES support IMAP4 email accounts. I almost didn't buy it because of the misinformation on this site. But I went to the store and checked it out, and it will retreive your IMAP4 email.

Pros:

Syncs PIM data with my Mac flawlessly
iTunes is easy to use and load
Great battery life.
Great reception
Style is second to none

Cons:

Should have EDGE data
Should have at least a 1 MP camera
Keyboard is a little funky - odd positioning of keys

Overall a good phone. I'm taking mine back as I just ordered a V3i to use.

L7 Review

Mar 24, 2006 by bob.m

At&t user on the Cingular network.

This is an unlocked Spanish phone (from Ebay), I assume there there are minor differences with the official Cingular Slvr.

That said, it's an interesting phone. Very light, great battery life, good volume.

The Cons - (this is why I'm dumping the phone):

Display - can't see the display in direct sunlight

Setup - the phone doesn't autolock when the display times out, this is a pain.

No Headphone jack - very strange and since I use the built in mp3 player I'm forced to use their headphones.

Software nits: the mp3 player doesn't remember where it was and you can't fast forward a song.

The Pros:

Size is great

Battery life is great

Speakerphone works well for me

The display is quite nice indoors

that's about it.

good luck,
bob

very good phone !!

hey everyone... i live in canada and just bought this phone off of a seller on eBay. after owning the motorola v180 and RAZR, i figured this would be a nice upgrade to suit my technological needs. first impression was it was very sleek looking, had a good feel to it, and everything ran smoothly. The one i purchased however did not have the iTunes standard on it, seeing as how it wasn't a cingular phone.

PROS:
- transflash card
- darker blue keypad (then the RAZR)
- good sound
- video camera and 1.3 megapixel camera
- sleek design
- apparently iTunes and motorola restricted the amount of songs you could have so that the ROKR/SLVR wouldn't compete with the iPod... so maybe with this Motorola Digital Audio Player you can hold as much as your TransFlash card can hold??

CONS:
- motorola digital audio player (much different then iTunes)
- my service provider (Rogers Wireless) does not have PushToTalk, so therefore the idea is useless
- buttons are harder to move around because they are closer together (harder to text message)
- could have the ROKR speakers, but doesn't

overall this is a good phone... if you live in canada just wait till it comes out on rogers, that way you can get the iTunes program... otherwise no problems. the only question is, does anyone know how to install iTunes on a cell phone? :P

have a good one.

"The new,flat Razr"

Mar 19, 2006 by Krazors001

This phone is great! I have had many phones in the past from Cingular(Nokia 6620,3120,6230, Motorola V3 Razr, V551, Sony Ericsson Z520a and W600, Blackberry 7100g)and this is by far my favorite. The size, the Itunes, and all the other features. It is perfect for everything I needed. I use this as a phone and wanted the Music for my rides into NYC from CT and this is just the right amount of music for the commute back and forth

Pros
-Itunes-100 songs is perfect for my use
-Size-Flat design fits great in pocket and excellent for texting during classes.(A lot sleeker than pulling out a flip phone)
-Style-this phone looks amazing. It always grabs peoples' attention.

Cons
-Volume is low(expected from Motorola)
-Camera(not really a con as this is a phone, not a digital camera!)
-Cingular doesn't offer insurance yet
-Memory is not shared with phone(can't use Itunes as ringers, unlike my 6230)
-Motorola's always seem to cause a little more interference with electronics as do other manufacturers.(I have to stand twice the distance from my phone and alarm clock when on the phone)

Nice to look at....

This phone is great if you don't do any talking. I bought two of these phones and with both the volume when connected to bluetooth is barely audible. I have adjusted the gain table with some success; however when bluetooth is disconnected the other volumes are too loud. Another complaint with this phone is the microphone. If you are not speaking directly into it you become garbled. (can't talk using you shoulder). The issue that make me the maddest is that the voice quality is terrible! I find my self asking people to repeat their sentences 2 and 3 times. iTunes is fairly stable but dose need some work. Over all it is a feature rich phone with a few to many bugs for my taste. I am going to Cingular tomorrow to get a 2125.

Nice phone

Mar 14, 2006 by Hoodog

I had my phone for about 3 days now and really like the features on it. I had a LG before from Spint.

Pros: Itunes is easy to load
Speaker is nice for music
good size
good reception
Easy to pair Bluetooth

Cons: Ear piece volumn is very low
Blue tooth needs to be reconnected everytime the device is turned off, does not automatically reset.

Overall I am very satisfied with this phone.
