Nicey

Love the phone.
Easy to Load mp3 ringtones through Bitpim 7.35 off. using bluetooth usb adaptor. No need to purchase songs from verizon just rip you favorite song off CD and Use bitpim to transfer either a clip that you choose or the whole song. Memory card slot is excellent for expansion but must have large format and usb 2.0 transfer reader , which cost big $$$. After that you can use SUPER software to format mpegs and watch small screen videos up whatever length on your phone. Feels like it has a solid design.

Pro's -
-VX-6000 with everything you wish it had.
-Mp3 player with great sound quality
-Twin stereo speakers
-No iTunes loading software with its license crap
-Video wallpaper on both screens(front and inside)
-Mp3's as ringtones, for free
-Speaker phone is audible and loud
-Full-length videos are possible to play with pricey memory card.
-Video or "Fullscreen Pics" for caller id's
-Better service! (Boston, Ma, Verizon)
-Gps capable! Dial 922 for longitude and latitude!(a few more steps required)
-Watch Comedy Central show clips and other stuff, with good clarity.
-Big an Tough, dropped many times and its cool.

Cons-
-Slow bluetooth 1.1
-Pay for Bluetooth adaptor on computer $60-
-Pay for miniSD card, 1 gig $110-
-VCast $15 a month
-Definite Fluctuating Volume during calls Software version "eri 4"

Overall-
Better than the rest for its price, "Free"
(after two years with VX 6000 , New every two deal and 2 year extension with Verizon)

Great phone, Great features. A little better than the e815.

Pros Compared to the moto e815:
Camera quality so much better.
Speaker phone is louder (not as crisp as e815)
A lot more solid, good hinges doesnt feel like its gonna break.
A more unique style.
SD mini card is cheaper than a transflash card
Easier to use.

Best bang for the buck!!

I have seen alot of mixed reviews for this phone. It seems everyone is between this an the E815 at the moment. However I chose the 8100 for reasons such as it feels much more strong, it has 512mb of space, has better sound quality (mp3) and it is smaller. One problem people have is that the Mp3 is apparently "disabled", disco lights, and dropped calls. I had these too, however 2 days after having the phone I took it to Verizon for the update that is availible. Now with this update, I have not dropped 1 call, you have the option to turn the disco or as they call it "status" lights completley off, the shutter speed has improved greatly and Now there is a pacific file for "My Mp3s". Since this update the only thing that someone may complain about is the blue color, which late sept early oct. faceplates will be availible. However dont buy a phone for its look. This phone is solid, has great sound qaulity for the speaker and the video/picture is great. Not to mention the giant amount of space for your files. ANd you cannot beat the current price $99.00. I highly reccomned this phone over an E815. Reason I did not give this phone a 5 because although its great its not PERFECT and i've owned 10+ phone and not one has been perfect.

I've owned the LG 8100 and the Motorola E815 both for about 2 weeks. I've been trying them both out and I like the LG 8100 much better since the software upgrade.

Pro's:
Clear display
MP3 player controls on the outside of the phone.
Text messages can be read from the outside of the phone.
Large size mini SD card availability

Con's:
Phone is kind of thick
No play lists

mp3s and sounds

I just bought the VX 8100 and I love it the MP3 player is great (just buy a memory card down load MP3 files no folders to card put it in phone and play.) Cool video player(download free Shakira vid.) Mini boom box speakers.(sound fine for 1/4 inch speakers) Nice sharp camera (just a slite hesitation before it takes the shot.) Fun buttons on front (just push down the center one hold for a second and your on.) And a speaker phone (Not the loudest but it works great.) My last phone was th VX 7000 I loved it but the extra features and the smaller size makes this phone worth the upgrade.

CONS:I called Verizon and asked how I could use the train sound from the sound file for a ring tone (That was my daughters ring on my VX 7000.) they said "The phone has the capability to use the sound folder for ring tones including make your own sounds and MP3 songs but they sell ring tones so they disabled it they need every penny out of us.) I added that last part.

All and all the VX 8100 is a fantastic phone I Love it!!!!!!

Great Phone

I upgraded to this phone from an LG VX-6000 on the day it was released and it is definitely a much improved. At first i was mad that the mp3 player did not work, but i got the update a week ago and it works really good. I get clear reception no matter where I am, and the quality of phone conversations has definitely been much improved. The camera on this phone takes some really good pictures. Some pictures look like digital camera pictures as far a the quality of the picture. But the best part of all is the expandable memory which is needed in order to use the mp3 player. All in all the phone is awesome, I would recommend the phone to anyone, especially people eligible with new every two cause the phone will cost you $50 which is an amazing price for a phone of this caliber.

very happy few cons

i just recieved the lgvx8100 after researching phones.

Pros:

1. design
2. I love how you can read and view text/pix messages without even opening the phone
3. you can use the camera without opening the phone
4. loud speakers
5. flashy light show when a call is recieved or a text is recieved
6. high quality camera
7. voice dialing easily recognizes commands
8. ****my favorite part is how the inside and outside screen can each be customized**** (banners, backgrounds, clock type)

Cons:

1. Speakerphone not the highest quality when driving
2.slow when using get it now and vcast but i think thats based on service ability(denver co)
3. unable to mp3's at the time so front buttons dont have a purspoe other than reading texts
4.unable to use mp3's recorded as ringtone
5. battery life not very long prepare to charge everynight if you use your phone alot

you NEED this phone

This is simply a great phone. I did a lot of research before I bought it last night through Verizon.

When I went into the store, I looked around a bit, but settled on the LG VX 8100. When I talked to the Sales Rep., he told me that LG is the best brand out there (the Moto's are dead), and I would have to agree.

This phone has it all.

Pros:
*Neat outer screen - you can answer text messages from there without opening the phone
*Large, clear and colorful main screen
*Great camera quality for a cell phone (includes zoom)
*Ringers sound awesome on this phone
*LOUD ring
*Bluetooth Technology included
*Fast data upload and download

Cons:
* It's a bigger phone, though not nearly as big as the 8000 (yikes!)
* Known Software problem with downloading wallpapers through Get It Now. Verizon told me that they know about the problem, and it can be fixed if I take it to the store for a software upgrade (let's hope)
* menus are slightly confusing (take some getting used to)

There is really nothing wrong with this phone that can't be overlooked. It's awesome....it's pretty much a cool toy that makes phone calls. I would give it a 5 if it were smaller.

lg does it again

theres only one con to this phone as far as im cocerned. the ear piece is not loud enough. i dont care about mp3 players and blutooth extended capabilitys. i use the headset and its flawless! great range no dropped calls exellent menu very easy to navagate. battery could be a little stronger
but is tolerable. but the phone itself is very nice and no way ill ever go back to moto!!!!!!

Best phone i've owned!!!!!

Aug 2, 2005 by imacG5

This has been one of the best phones I've owned (so far)!!! I've came from the 7000 (great phone), which has the same menu layout which is so simple and easy to navigate through! The size has been improved which is good ( easier to get out of pocket) and its not to small and not too big which is good.

Pros: Look, feel in hands, stereo speakers, call quality, reception, voice commands, miniSD card slot, easy to access txt and pix messages when phone is closed, TO MANY MORE TO LIST!!!!!!

Cons: Camera, temporally disabled MP3 player.

Hopefully all of the cons will be fixed in a upcoming software update!! Otherwise this is a great phone that I highly recommend!!!!!
