Easy to Use

Aug 25, 2006 by Chair

Pros: The MP3 player works great. (Buy a mini-sd for it so it can hold lots of music) the miniSD card allows great advanced functions. Everything that phone techs will love this. It has a decent camera, very good for snapshots. Brilliant front display and crystal clear photo-caller-id settings. I get wonderful reception and the phone is fairly easy to use. All in all I love the phone.

Cons: short battery life

Phone sucks

Well it was with much anticipation we bought new phones last Christmas, VX8100, VX 5200, WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT BOTH THESE PHONES HAVE BEEN, they drop calls like hot potatoes coming from the kitchen stove. You have to stand perfectly still to talk, walk around the house and you will drop the call, turn your head and the call just fades away, we kept a record of the dropped calls and informed Verizon, they just made excuses about being in a weak area and that there are no plans to add any new cell towers in this area. What a crock of B.S. I had Nokias before and they DID NOT DROP CALLS LIKE THESE PHONES DO, we figured new phones better technology, WRONG. Dont buy these phones , they are junk and we are stuck with them now. SATISFACTION ZERO

Honest Review

+NO CONS FOUND YET (Based on phone not Verizon)

When I got the phone I had to upgrade it to get V-Cast Music. The phone can replace your iPod Shuffle and other flash-based mp3 players. The screen is the best. The phone looks good and its small enough to hold but big enough to know you have it. Bluetooth works great on it. As for the ringtone problems, that was Verizon but go to howardforums.com as get your own for free. Makes good calls and gets excellent reception. It's was with the LG VX8000, the fastest gaming performance on the Verizon phone line-up. Its enabled for Bluetooth Dial-Up and VZ Navigator most likely will not work with this phone because of the gps version on it. Way better than the Motorola RAZR V3m and Samsung a950 and maybe the Motorola e815. I can keep this for the rest of my 2-year contract. Also I got 2 Simpsons shows on here. Video is one of the best V-Cast Video clarity on the line-up. You cant go wrong with this phone if you can find it.

AWSOME

Please read ^_^

Ok this is AWSOME, once you get a mini SD card for it!!! MP3, I don't care much for, eventhough its easy to enable with #00000. Just use WMP to covert your mp3s to WMA at 96kbs, which you will not notice the difference between quality of the two. Videos on this thig are crazy!!! Get ImTOO 3GP converter, and you easily covert movies to the .3gp format!

So far I got three 30 minute TV shows on my phone, to watch!!! They work in nice quailty and sound. But trust me, get a 512mb to 1gig stick of MiniSD and you can load this phone with awsome movies or mp3s!!!!

People say you can only watch like 2mins of video or whatever blah blah lol! You can only record up to 15seconds of video, but you can put hours of your videos on it with no problem ^_^

The biggest video I have on my phone right now is 20megs, and is 23minutes long!!! When you convert it to the .3GP video, the video shrinks to a nice small number in megs! So if a 1 hour video is like 45megs, thats about 12 videos on 512meg MiniSD card, or 24 vids on 1 gig card! XD

Takes GIFS, MPEGS, .3GP videos, etc. I just need a pair of headphones now to listen to my movies without other people hearing them lol

Awsome phone!

Custom mp3 ringtones lol, doesn't have that, but they do sell a link cable on Ebay that will let you put your own custom ring tones in it. I dont care to much for that lol =p If you dont have the cable it'll cost you on VCAST .

Great Phone

I have had my phone for about four days. Though it is not perfect, it is probably as close as you can get. I can only find two CONS to this phone. One is that you have to do a back door trick to play WMA and MP3s depending on the version of software you have. Second, It would be nice to have the flash available for use during the taking of a video. Other than that, it is great. I have SW Version 7.

VX8100 Nicer Than SCH-A950

Feb 24, 2006 by tyito2000

I have used the LG VX8100 for over two months and can say that it is much better than the Samsung SCH-A950. One of the most important differences is that the VX8100 has software version 7. With version 7, you can go to the service menu (menu button then six zeros) and still activate the MP3 player to play MP3 files. You can enjoy the dual advantage of V Cast Music (WMA music files) and a feature laden MP3 player (MP3 music files).

Other significant advantages over the SCH-A950 include:
-Much louder and fuller stereo speakers
-One touch vibrate key
-No restriction on Picture ID sizes
-Zoom feature w/ previously taken pics
-Higher resolution front screen
-Much easier to use number keys
-2 meg of ringtone space
-Better reception strength

Overall, after testing both phones side by side, I ended up selling the SCH-950. The deciding factor was the louder and fuller speakers and the zoom feature w/ previously taken pics. Also, the build quality seems more solid and is more aesthetically pleasing.

Great Phone

I think this phone is great! I have had every phone known to man and had every service provider. Verizon is the best network. I always get my calls and this phone is great in reception and quality! I only wish it would have more memory for storing songs. I don't know if the card you can buy will improve this , but over all this phone is great!

Good phone

Feb 21, 2006 by lanicusmaximus

So all in all I say this a feature packed phone!

Pros:
EVDO capabilities
I can surf to alot of websites from my
phone with Mobile Web 2.0
VCast Capabilities
I just love VCast and the awesome
games that I can now play
1.3 megapixle camera
not as good as the a950 but still great
MP3 Player
Yeah, um don't need an ipod anymore!!

Cons:
The only things I find wrong is the reception is just ok, not great but not bad and when people send you sound files you can't use them as ringtones at all.

Overall great phone. One of the funnest phones I've ever had. I work for Verizon so I had my pick and this was it. So I'm happy with the choice that I made! It's a great phone and I recommend to people that aren't in low-lying reception areas to try this phone out.
