One of the better phones on the market!!

Mar 13, 2005 by awashi

The LG L1400 is a fantastic phone. The screen is extremely bright and sharp, one of the best available. After hours of research I settled on the L1400. I am a T-Mobile customer and T-Zones were flawlessly! There are so many pros I will begin with the ringtones:Loud and clear. Other reviewers claim low rings-not true. Earpiece volume more than adequate. The external display is bright and useful. Reception is outstanding. Signal strength like Nokia. Voice dialing works excellent, especially since this is my first phone with this feature. 3 numbers and email for each contact. Text messaging works as one would expect. Camera has lighting features and takes pictures that one would expect from a 640 x 480 camera. Overall picture quality is good. (above average)
Recent calls, missed, dialed etc can store more than 20-take that Motorola! No problems with crashing, freezing etc.
Cons: Only 2-very minor-Menu layout is different, but not hard to get used to. Things like alarm, calendar etc are in an odd place. Only has 1 game-no biggie.
I have downloaded ringtones and they sound great. Very good handset for the $$. I bought mine brand new on ebay for $175 and do not regret spending this money. This is my 15th phone in 3 years and so far my favorite. Hope this helps. Keep up the good work LG.

PROS:
~good selection of downloadable ring tones from cingular
~good clarity on the outer and iner faces
~camera has ok zoom

CONS:
~no flash on camera
~no face paltes to be offered

Great, but not the best out there

Pros: excellent display, nice camera, easy to navigate, seems to hold a strong signal whether i'm on 800 or 1900 towers.

Cons: You can only take a handful of pictures on the best quality setting (640x480). Battery life is not good. Make sure you have a charger with you at all times because it will not hold nearly as long as the box tells you it will (even if you're on standby).

The Cingular logos all over the wallpapers and displays are a little annoying too.

I love this phone!

I love this phone! Had it since September and it's the best phone I've ever had. The photo quality awesome. It's so much better than the Motorola V220. If cingular had been offering it for free again when my husband got his phone, we'd ordered another one. No complaints for this phone! It's great!

Great phone, very satisfied.

I just received this phone from Cingular yesterday, and I received the phone for free on a 2-day sale. So far I am very satisfied and have had no problems at all. The only two things that keep me from giving it a 5 is the fact that the wallpaper for the external display can only be set to the factory installed wallpapers, custom wallpapers can only be used for the internal display, also the factory installed ringtones leave some to be desired making custom ringtone downloads almost necessary. I receive good signal in my area and calls are clear and very audible. The camera quality is better than previous LG's I have had experience with (VX-6000 and 1150).

Pros: Large display, clear and crisp graphics, excellent reception, easy-to-navigate menus.

Cons: Cheesy factory ringtones, factory wallpapers plastered with the "Cingular Jack" logo.

i thought it was good until...

I just got this phone yesterday, and I loved it at first. I mustve played with it for 6 hours straight. Out of the box, it needs a lot of editing to really peronalize it. I downloaded 6 ringones, a graphic, and 3 games. Set one succesful photo caller id, set up caller groups, etc etc. Then today, while playing with the camera and shooting some more caller id photos, my photo gallery completely froze up. I couldnt access any of my pictures or delete them or do anything. It was terribly frustrating. I called cingular, and all they could do was say they would have someone look into it and call me back. Now, i've lost all of the pictures I had taken.

I really like this phone, and just want it to work properly! It was a huge disapointment to have this happen on the 2nd day of ownership.

Great Phone

I have been using the L1400 for about a week now, and I must say that it is a very nice phone in terms of quality and features. I was previously using the Motorola v220. Although it was an ok phone, it had alot of problems. After reading the reviews from this site as well as a few others, I was able to settle on the L1400 as a replacement. No regrets here!

Pros: Call quality is great. Sound is clear. Features are nice, has everything I need. High speed data access is a great plus. Yet to have any dropped or interrupted calls.

Cons: Ringer could be a little louder, but when vibrate and ring are set together I find it works out fine.

Carrier: Cingular Wireless
Area: Southeast Louisiana (Houma)

Great phone... with a few kinks...

Beofore I got this phone, I used this site's user reviews to make up my mind. I got the phone, a little hesitant because of what people said about ring volume, ring tones, battery life, and other things. I am VERY pleased with this phone now that I got it!!! I'll mention pros and cons, but first here are some things that people listed as cons that shouldn't be labeled as such.

MISUNDERSTANDINGS:
~ "The external display stays on for a short amount of time..." ~ If you push either of the side buttons, the screen turns right back on.
~ "Bad ringtones and games..." ~ You can download amazing MP3 quality ringtones from Cingular.com to replace the boring ones it comes with. As for the standard game, I think it's fun! It's just like Snake!
~ "Memory size is too small..." ~ I've had this phone for a week now and I have taken lots of pictures that are saved to my phone and so far I have plenty of room left. Just make sure you set the picture quality low so you can do this. I don't care about picture quality on a cell phone, and I don't think that should be a reason to buy a phone. I have a digital camera for that.

PROS:
+ light-weight & good size
+ great screen resolution/quality on both the inside and outside screens
+ sturdy
+ clear sound (during calls)
+ easy-to-navigate menu [I'm a former Nokia owner, and it didn't take long for me to get the hang of the menu style.]
+ camera quality and features are extremely nice
+ picture caller ID

CONS:
- ringer volume is quiet when the phone is closed, so don't be fooled when you hear your ring tones as being loud while testing them when the phone is open.
- battery life is the biggest negative. Charge it as often as possible.
- lack of available acessories

Overall, the pros outweigh the cons by far! Get this phone!!!

The Best Phone Ive had

Feb 16, 2005 by cingularman0968

this is simply the best phone i have had in quite a while! The onlly reason i gave this phone a 4.5 is because the camera has no flash.
Cingular carries more of the better phones than any other company. I had alltel and Verizon and they both did not have the service that cingular has! Cingular is simply the best company so far because of the service and because of such nice people that work there. I never have to wait in line when i go to the Cingular store or never have to wait on the phone when i call coustmer service!

CINGULAR IS THE BEST
