This is the absolute BEST phone that I have ever had in my life!!!! The camera is AWSOME! and the picture messaging is off the chain!

Great Upgrade for Nextel

Aug 3, 2005 by Jayj2k1

I have to admit that I was just a little skeptical about upgrading to the i860 because Nextel is pretty high in terms of service and I am only 17. However, I figured what the heck and I upgraded from the i730 to the i860. What a big difference people!!!!

Pros:
- Large color display (great resolution)
- Huge storage space for pics, videos, ringers
- Still maintains a loud speaker
- Large External display
- MMS
- Can forget about the cam and video cam. Even though they are not the greatest, they do get the job done.
-Small Design and must say very sexy compared to the plain silver phones.
- The same menu setup as other newer nextels which makes using your phone, easy.

Cons:
- Short battery life, but all nextels have a short battery life compared to other providers because they always have their network available for walkie talkie service.

To conclude , if you know that Nextel is pretty good in your area, grab the i860. I live in Baltimore, MD and I have no problem with service. I luv this phone.

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT

GO TO CINGULAR AND GET V551. MUCH NICER PHONE FOR LESS, PLUS YOU WILL ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO TALK ON IT.

I just switched to nextel & from the reviews I though the phone would be good but I would be in my truck showing full reception on phone, would be breaking up & drop calls, I hope I did not make a bad move

Wow... $300... What. A. Rip off!!

All I can really say about this expensive device, is that it is just so not worth it.
I've been with Nextel for only 4 months and and the service has been nothing but terrible every single day. Since I've been with Nextel, I started off with the i830 because i could not afford the i860 and everyday until I got the i860, I've been wanting it. Anyway, I went from the i830...broke. Bought an i730... broke. Went back to the i830 and had it for a couple of weeks until I was able to afford the i860. The only reason I wanted it so bad was because all my friends had it and it has a camera built in, which by the way takes the worst pictures I have ever seen. I got it and as I was buying it, believe it or not, the guy selling it to me was even telling me that it was a piece of garbage, but I had been in love with it ever since I layed eyes on it so I didn't care what he was saying, but I should have listened to him. That day, when I got home, I was getting to know it better like all my phones and as I was looking at it, I noticed how badly it's put together and it looked like it had been in a pool or the ocean by a previous owner or something even though I bought it new...Anyway, the point I am trying to make to you all is that if you are a current Nextel costumer or not one yet and are switching to Nextel, the absolute best phone, by my opinion and a whole bunch other peoples', would have to be indeed the i530.
I'm telling you. It won't break on you,for no reason anyway like my other nextel's, and it will hold up for a long long long time...
And the good part about the i530 is that if you upgrade to it (or downgrade) it is only a cost to you of $50. My advice, Don't waste your money of a whopping $300 on a phone that is junk. Buy an i530 or if you like the new i560 that came out with the color screen, get that one. It's all up to you. Do what you think is best!!

This phone is horriable I have had it for 2 weeks an reception is worst than the i730. The camera is grainy and edges in the pics are runny. I have finally have had enought of so so phones and constant reception problems with nextel phones. I have switched carriers. AT&T has better coverage yeah I know AT&T is better than nextel.

Great Camera Phone

Nov 16, 2005 by ajtish

I have had this phone for about 9 months now, and all I can say is I love this phone.

Many people may say that the camera isn't worth anything, but think about it, would you rather have a great camera, and a sub par phone, or a good phone and a sub par camera. Personally I want phone before a camera. That said, lets talk about the phone.

PROS
-Dual Color Screens
-Large Internal Screen, great color and readability
-Intuitive Menus
-MP3 and Wave Ringtones
-Great Size, not too big, not too small
-Durable, within reason
-I am tough on phones, and this phone has held up pretty well over time
-Loud and clear speakerphone
-Push-to-Open is a nice feature
-It can get annoying because of the clicks when you open and close the flip. Kind of funny when friends think that they are breaking you phone.

CONS
-Low-Resolution Outer Screen
-OK Battery Life (I usually get about a day of light to average use)

Nice but not 100%

After being with Cingular for 12 years, my wife and I finally left Cingular for Nextel. I always wanted a Nextel phone but heard too many bad stories about the service. We just moved to St. Louis (where Cingular really sucks and Nextel is fantastic) from Chicago (where Cingular was really great and Nextel was only okay). I bought an i860 for myself and an i830 for my wife. We purchased the phones through www.buy.com (if you're switching to Nextel from another carrier, they're BY FAR the cheapest place to buy the phones b/c they rebate all of them - including the i860.

The i860 was awesome out of the box, but after about a week I kept coming home from work and wanting to use the i830. The i860 has an unbelievable screen, but that's about it. The button to flip the phone open automatically is really cool, but as some others have commented, it's already starting to get a little rattley sounding after the first week. The phone is nicely sized when compared to the previous Nextel flip phones, but it's a little too big to fit comfortable in one's pants pocket. As a business owner, I don't have time to monkey around with a phone's camera, or download games or any time wasting crap. I like the Motorola phones from Nextel b/c they're good, solid phones, period. If you want to waste your time and take pictures, then buy a digital camera. To sum this up, the i860 is being returned for another i830 for myself.

Great phone for the most part.

I have been a Nextel customer since they were called fleetcall (LONG TIME). I have a a ton of phones. This phone all in all is a great phone. Good resolution on the screens, audio on both speaker and ear piece is crisp and clear. Signal is the same as my i730 which is good. Solid built phone. I have two problems with it. 1. the screen fades to a solid white and the camera is sub-mega pixel. But the phone is awesome and one of the best camera phones I have ever played with. Good job to Motorola!
