Motorola RAZR V3 is awesome !!!

Aug 5, 2005 by godzilla

I've had this phone for almost a month now.I have always had Nokia phones in the past, except the last 2 phones. The phone prior to the Razor was the Motorola V551.It was an excellent phone. My wifes phone broke, she wanted the V551.I let her use the V551.She liked it alot.I bought the Razor.Very impressive phone.I waited a month to do the review.I wanted to give it a good workout. The reception is really good.Depending on where your signal is coming from will depend on how strong of a signal you get.All the features are great.I've read some reviews about how wide it is.It's a little wider than most phones, but it's not a problem. It's so thin that you don't notice in your pocket.I feel that a phones thickness is the biggest problem while in your pocket. The glass is really durable,it doesn't scratch. The looks of the phone is what is most compelling.I'm a lettercarrier.I'm on the phone alot while working.I get more compliments from my customers about how sharp looking this phone is.The battery life is very good too.I'm on this constantly and the battery will last a solid 3 days. The camera is good too.I've seen better.I don't get a phone for the pictures. The menu items are good too.Over all the phone is one you will be proud to answer in front of your friends.Be the envey of your work....buy this phone !!!

Do not join Cingular (.5) for Network (2.0) for RAZR

Jun 21, 2005 by jexner325

I was on the Verizon network and joined Cingular, hoping to find the RAZR one of the best phones available. At first, the phone was wonderful. Great looks, long battery, no problems, okay reception. But after about 1 week, everything changed. Dropped calls became the norm. Infact in several conversations, it was normal to have calls dropped atleast twice in the middle of a conversation!

I called Cingular, they denied that it was the service, saying it was the RAZR. They indicated that the RAZR's antenna was not up to par, and that they experience "lots" of dropped calls and bad reception problems with that particular phone.

I tried two different RAZR's and the problems persisted and in some cases became worse. At some points, dead air was all you would hear! Granted, i blame a lot of this on Cingular's network, but if you are joining the network, know that this phone will NOT mitigate the problems with Cingular. I took the phone back and bought a Nokia 3120 and have had minor problems with that phone-making me beleive that the RAZR was certainly not worth the cost. The network is still terrible; reception is bad and dropped calls are routine.

As for the phone, the keypad is terible, the screen works 50% of the time, the software is outdated and extremely slow, and blutooth is a joke. By the time you have connected to the headset, the conversation is over!

If you like a great looking paper weight, the RAZR is for you. If you are looking for the worst service available, Cingular has an excellent deal on two year contracts! On a serious note, stay with Verizon, and if you don't have Verizon, get it!

I would like to give you the Pro's and Con's of this phone but i think i have summarized most of the points of the phone. If Motorola decided to put the phone out on a CDMA network like Verizon, this review might be totally different. It is a wonderful idea by Motorola, but a terrible choice to go with Cingular and poorly developed.

All you really need

Pros:
Very fashionable phone.
Great reception in my area everywhere I go (Cingular Orange Customer).
Very thin - main attraction.
Metal alloys look great, especially the keypad.
The camera is great quality for a phone.
The internal screen is excellent displaying 262k colors.
The external display is okay and displays only 4k colors.
Great Bluetooth connections.

Cons:
Finger prints, finger prints, finger prints. But oh well, right?
At first glance, the outer LCD seems huge but in reality is pretty small.
No video recording (without flashing and flexing it) which is a major drawback since it is such a high-class phone.

All-in-all I believe that the pros far outweight the cons for the Motorola RAZR and reccommend it to anyone that can afford it.

Very Impressed! :)

All I can say is wow! Have had quite a few phones in the last year or so: Verizon Kyocera Slider, Verizon LGVX6000, Verizon Motorola v710 (very disappointed in this one!), Cingular Nokia 6230 and a Cingular Motorola MPX220.

I has hesitant to get this phone after reading many positive and negative reviews. Anyway - had a lot of trouble (mostly software) with my MPX220 and went to cingular to buy the new Sony Erisscon S710a but it hasn't quite arrived in my area yet so I started looking at the RAZR. The girl at the booth had one and I messed around with it for a bit and was sold on the RAZR.

Two thumbs up to Motorola and Cingular on this one! No software bugs as of yet, features are perfect for what I use it for - The MPX220 just seemed "junked up" with stuff I would never use as I already own a PDA (Sony PEG-UX40) and I should have known with the MPX220 running a microsoft product, I would need to "Reboot" it at least once a day just like my PC :)

I was very uneasy about buying another motorola product as the V710 (Verizon) was a complete disaster! The V710 probably had more software bugs than any other phone I have ever owned - The darn things wouldn't even ring with a BT headset connected!?! What is up with that - Verizon taking out the OBEX (object exchange) from the BT was what made me go with a company that supports open standards. Got the phone but didn't buy a data cable - hmmm - was thinking about how to get my mp3 ring tones on the phone with what I had at the house. Took the memory card out my Nokia 6230, put my ringers and pictures on it with my laptop and transferred them via BT to my RAZR!!!

Only con is when you set a custom ringtone for someone - it plays the first part of it when they text you, not that big of a deal considering everything else works fine!

Pros: good signal quality in Western North Carolina, software seems stable enough and just the right amount of features for me!

I am Out of room, hope this helps

a few facts:
1. i love it when i got my first one.
2. after 6 hours the screen was a mess of lines and waves.
3. got it replaced with a new one.
4. loved it.
5. after 3 days the keypad died.
6. still love it and waiting for the replacement/
7. don't know if i'll be able to "survive" another dissapointment...
8. the MPT (mobile phone tools" is the worse piece of soft i ever met. i tried (buyed) the "deluxe" version and upgraded to 3.19e. still you have to rape the soft, the pc and the phone to make them work together. after many hours i got my laptop to work with the phone (USB and BT) but the desktop still refuse to open the applications (phone book and media center)

Don't waste your money on a phone just based on looks. For the $500 price they want for this phone, you might as well put that towards the MPx220, which actually does something, like sync with outlook and keep track of your contacts & schedule. Also, it has an SD/IO card slot for extra storage. The RAZR has the same old, lame, Motorola O/S that has been recycled over and over again. For example, if you have a contact with three numbers, it shows up three times in the contact list instead of once, like most other decent phones out there.
Motorola really needs to get it's act together when it comes to their operating systems. They need to look at Sanyo and Samsung for examples of how to program a phone.

Hope you don't break it.

I'm surprised no one has talked about how you can NOT get insurance on this phone through Cingular. Yes, the phone looks cool and what it does it does rather well. But having to pay retail for this phone to replace it if it breaks would be a serious bummer.
I work for Cingular, and while the phone looks cool, I believe it to be over-rated. Yes it's thin, but I'm not paying five hundred for a phone unless I can ride it to work. And then if it busts, nine hundred to replace it? Yes you can probably get it a little cheaper off of Ebay or something, but you're still going to be out of quite a bit of money, and for what? It's not features. If you have the money to spend on a cool looking phone, go for it. I'm sticking with my V551.

it "OK"

i had this phone for 6 months. at first i was like, "cool! i got a razr!" and i enjoyed it. but after about a month, i started finding out some bad things about it. like for example, my screen cracked within in 3 months.

pros:
-slim
-cool looking
-bluetooth
-light weight

cons:
-sometimes couldn't hear through the earpiece very well
-weak durability
-easy to get dust or water under the screen (doesnt mess up phone, but cant see screen as good)

I love it!

I am a phone junkie, I have been with Sprint, then Nextel and recently moved to T-Mobile because I wanted the Sidekick II, after having the Sidekick for less than 2 months I switched to the Razr and I LOVE it! I have had several other Motorolas thru Nextel and this one is by far the best I have ever had. I got this phone as an upgrade so I only paid 150.00 for it and I consider it money well spent!

Pros:
-GREAT design, so thin, fits in all the tiny pockets in my purses!
-SEXY! The phone is HOT!
-Bluetooth, of course this feature is awesome.
-Camera is great for a phone, automatically adjusts to light conditions, WAY better than the Sidekick.
-Mp3 compatible so you can convert songs in to ring tones with the right software.
-Reception is SO much better than my Sidekick, haven't had a dropped call yet.
-Alarm clock, my other Motorolas did not have this.
-Text features are great, I text much more than I actually talk on the phone and I find the Razr's texting features to be better than any other phone I have owned.

Now for the cons:
NONE!

I adore this phone! For the price I paid I couldn't have asked for anything more.
