Not a Bad Phone

Jul 17, 2005 by dschmelzle99

Pros
I love the fact that I have an awesome camera phone.
I also love that the screen is nice & colorful, the keys are easy to push.

Cons....
I use text messaging a lot and it doesnt have a date & time on the text messages that come in.

I dont like that when I open the phone it is set to whatever I left on the last time. Some people like privacy!!!!

I havent tried the Blue tooth headset so I cant say....but I hope it works like they say it will.

I dont know if it is my carrier or my phone but many many dropped calls.

I recently had a LG and it was awesome!!!!

BTW Someone said you cant have a ringer for each contact...you can but it has to be one of the groups...it would be nice that you can have 1 different ring for each contact...if that means 80 different ringers than so be it but not on this phone!!!

I think Nokia needs to hire me to try their phones out...heck I would do it for free but this phone is not a bad choice but just all the features arent there.

oh that reminds me the menu is not numbered. ON my LG I could just go to Menu 7,3,1 and all my text messages were erased. This is not fun to fumble thru the menus.

Not all that

ive had this phone for a week.so far not too impressed with it.speaker phone sounds real crappy and i found out you can't use mp3s' as ringtones.another thing that has gotten under my skin is the camera flash, its too bright or reflects off the sides and creates a glare.im having a heck of a time with the software ,getting pictures to the phone to use as wallpaper.the ext display has the time and blends in with most darker wallpapers.
On the upside my wife got the LG VX8100 and that phone rocks. Its soaring in all the the places the Nokia lacks.Oh well as long as shes happy .... lol!

Great phone! The best phone i ever had!

I love the nokia brand. You can drop this phone 50 times and it will still work better than when you first bought it! you can customize ringtones and it also has a great mp3 player and radio. It was worth every penny i paid for it!

Kind of a Disappointment

After hearing much hype about the Nokia 6255i for the past year, I finally got to try one out. I was so looking forward to this phone thinking it was going to be the phone to judge all others by. I wasn't very impressed. Nokia has been very hesitant to make a flip phone, so I thought they would have put more effort into this phone. I guess I'll start out with the cons since there seems to be more of them then pros.

Cons:
-Ugly square design.

-Absolute cheap build and feel to the phone. It makes noises every time you touch it. Noises like it's cheaply built. This wasn't just with my phone, I know someone else who has a 6255 and it makes the same noises. The Nokia doesn't have replaceable face covers, so I don't know why it squeaks like it does.

-The hinge feels completely cheap. It's so flimsy. You can open and shut the hinge by just barely moving your hand. I have never seen a flip phone with such a flimsy hinge.

-Call quality from the earpiece. It gives people I'm talking to a deeper bass tone. I prefer a higher tone to people's voices. I just don't care for the sound this gives.

-Speaker phone has kind of a fuzzy sound to it. It's fairly loud, but it's also somewhat distorted sounding.

-You can't play the radio through the speaker without having a headset plugged in. That kind of defeats the purpose I think. I don't know why it can't use the phone antenna.

-Icons are kind of cheesy looking.

-The select button is pretty hard to operate because it's so small.

-The menu system is the same as older model Nokias. It's good, but kind of getting dated. LG seems to have better menu operation.

Pros:
-Can add memory expansion.

-Outside display is color.

-Has a pull up antenna for when you need it.

-Has an FM radio built in.

-Can take several 15 second video clips, but the video is kind of fuzzy.

-Has a decent camera.

-Has Bluetooth built in.

-Has large # buttons.

Overall I wasn't very impressed with this phone.

Still looking for the perfect phone....

I am trying to find a phone to replace my trusty VX4400. This is the 3rd phone I've tried and I'm still not satisified.

Pros-
- Camera is out on the end of the flip and not up next to the hinge. You will take far fewer pictures of your fingers this way.
-Big internal and external displays that are quite customizable.
- The menus are set up the same way Nokias have been for years. For some people this would be a con, but I like that continuity as I've used several Nokias in the past and appreicate that I don't have to re-learn everything.
- Phone feels solid and well- built.
- Good voice quality.
- Rings very loud.

Cons-
- The keys on this phone are bad. The Menu button is TINY!! I have big fingers and after playing a game on this phone for 5 minutes I had a sore spot on my thumb. The rest of the keys are too smooth to text or do much of anything else without acutally looking at the keypad.
-For the size of the displays the quality should be better. Check out a Samsung and you will see what I mean.
- The phone is huge. Even with an extended battery my VX4400 is way smaller than the 6255.
- You have to use a headset to listen to the radio.
- Should have more internal memory for all the features it has. What good is an Mp3 player that only saves 2 songs?

Overall, this isn't a terrible phone, but I don't think it's worth the money. Maybe when the price drops I'll reconcider it.

WOW

I don't have alot of time to tell you everything I like and dislike(which is maybe 1 or 2 things..nothing major) But I have owned a lot of phones and worked in the wireless community for a while, and by far this is the best phone Ive had. The camera on this thing is unreal, of course it could be better. But with a little help from photoshop or fireworks....You will have a great picture.

I give this my highest review...Its definitely worth it.

The Greatest Phone, I Have Owed Yet...

Oct 28, 2005 by TheWickedClown

I Can Say, I Have Just About Gutted This Phone Out.. I've Played With Every Thing That This Phone Has To Offer And Looked Up A Lot Of Reviews.. Before Got This Phone And I Have To Say That I'm Glad To Recomend It To My Freinds.

It's Easyier For Me To Discribe What I Don't Like.. Then All The Good I Like About It.

This One This Is My Second Phone Of The Same Model(6266i).. I Had A Problem With The Phone Shutting Off When The Flip Closed Fast & Hard.. It Only Happend On The First Phone.. Other Then That, Anything That Was Inculeded With It. Was Just About More Then One Could Expect Out Of A Compact Flip Phone..

Great Phone While it lasted

I bought the phone for the great features It had..but after just ten days it failed(every time I closed the phone it would shut down)
it has now been in nokia's repair center for over a month!
Pros..
excellent reception, good camera, fair video,
super easy to use bluetooth, exelent compatablity with outlook via bluetooth
fair color displays
CONS..
poor design (ala moto720)this phone is ugly
does not return to main screen when closed
the most disappointing thing about this phone has been that it is poorly built and the ROTTON customer service for Nokia's Repair center and Customer service. I know all companies have lemons but a man can only drink so much lemonade..

It'd be great if it had better quality...

I loved this phone @ first. I hate those little phones with the tiny buttons that are hard to push. I got my 6255i 2 months ago and have had to get it replaced twice. Both had the same problem, they stopped charging. My wireless provider said other 6255i's they were selling were having the same problem. The first one was completely fried, and I had only had it a week. The second one last a month and a half, but just stopped charging. The phone has great features, and takes great photos, but who has the time and money to keep getting it replaced or repaired? Nokia support was no help either. This is a huge disappointment from Nokia.

Why all the hate?

Granted, this wasn't the best phone of it's time. When we got this, we got three of them (with Alltel).

They worked great for us. Reception was okay in the bigger parts of our city, but we still didn't get some signal in certain areas. That was to be expected though because of where we lived at the time, so I don't completely blame the phone, either.

Surprisingly enough the battery life was great. I didn't do a lot with the phone so I didn't ever really need to charge for about a week. Sometimes I charged it just to be safe - went to school way out in the middle of no where, so we needed a phone on the "just in case", worst case scenario.

I don't know if it was nationwide, but in our area the phones got recalled shortly after we got them (and alltel conveniently forgot to tell us), and they didn't sell them again after that. Something was wrong in the wiring or something, I don't recall.

It had bluetooth and excellent call quality, though a little bit of an echo, up until December of 07 (when my mother stepped up and decided to finally get a better phone). It worked pretty good until then. The ringer was loud, too.

I don't like the way Nokias are set up, with the ringer profiles and everything, and this one wouldn't let you set a different ringtone to different people. Unless I missed it after two years of trying to find it. I never found a way, so.

Of course, now it's a paper weight, but still usable as a backup at least. It could've been a lot worse! It went through a lot and was still holding up, so I can't really complain. I did get a green cover to go on mine, so now it just looks like a giant jolly rancher. Go figure!

All in all, 3 out of 5 because it's not the worse there is, but needed a lot of room for improvement. Since Nokias aren't made for Alltel anymore, I guess there won't be a chance to find out.
