Back and Better after the recall

Nov 27, 2004 by jkingry

This phone is amazing and if you are like me you are glad that there if finally a smartphone that is a flip phone. So far ther is nothing not to like. After the recall of the phone, and being put back out, every glitch is fixed. Yes even the volume. My only problems with this phone is that the windows OS still does not allow you to use the mp3's as ringtones. Also, there is not enough space to put mp3's on right away, you have to go out and buy a mini sd card. (Email me and let me know where you can get those.) Otherwise sweet phone, bigger than I am used to, but a really sweet phone. All you could ever need

Great phone. Can't wait for the MP300.

One note: All inventory is being shipped back for new software flash. Was released prematurely. If you own one, would be a good idea to return it, and wait for new ones to arrive.

Good but can be better

Expandable memory
Windows Mobile 2003!
Quad-band antenna

Cons:

Ear piece volume*
Speakerphone volume*[* Motorola's possibly trying to push their bluetooth devices more?]

New Info on MPX220

First of all what is up with this? " If you are a Mac user, don't bother with this phone." from hatingmotonow. You bought a windows phone and you have a mac did you not even think of what you were doing before you bought the phone, you shouldn't have even been allowed to post here. Any way I own a MPX 220 and these cons that have been posted are true the good news motorola is fixing them, mine is actually getting repaired right now. they did pause the production of this phone to fix the stuff that is wrong with them but they are now going back out on the market b/c they are now "fixed".

This Bites a Big one!!!!!

Hi,

I had bought my phone on Thursday and I must say that it is the worse and I mean...the worse phone ever. The only thing that's cool about this phone is the(shell) cover.

This phone is not worth the money that Motorola is asking for. It's a total rip off and a disaster, I would think that Motorola would have people with creative minds but no, they've put weaklings to design their product.

Pros:

There is none, because I am highly upset with this device and with Motorola.

The Camera/Video..bites, the quality is poor, poor as in Disgusting!!!

The Volume for the ear piece is horrible and the ringer volume is also poor.

The features (all) of this phone is cheap and it's cheesey. I've could of sworn I purchased an OGO device which I may add is the worse ever created device in the whole universe.

The web browsing for this phone stinks like the sewers.

I will tell you this much anyone who purchased this phone and say that they'd like it, is lying!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Phone...Packed with features...

This is my first Windows Mobile device and I'm loving it so far. There are so many applications available for this platform that it's dizzying. The MPx220 is a great phone packed with a multitude features and is a solid performer with a few quirks.

Pros:
**It's a smartphone (there are so many useful and fun apps available for WM2003 devices)
**Can play mp3's, wma's, movies, games, etc.
**Variety of connectivity options - bluetooth, IR, USB
**Decent RF performance
**Stylish design (I'm a sucker for clamshells)
**Nice and bright main display
**Expandable memory
**Great Battery Life
**Voice recognition feature
**Syncs with Outlook

Cons:
**Earpiece volume is decent enough for me (using asian 3.46 ROM), however the speaker is another story. Distortion at higher volume levels.
**No EDGE...No point of using IE at GPRS speeds
**No Wi-Fi
**Would've been nice if you could upgrade to WM5
**Megapixel camera? I don't think so...

Solid Performer

I bought this phone to accomplish many tasks not really believing that it would accomplish everything that I wanted. I was very surprised....
I needed a phone that would work here in the USA and in Brazil. I contacted Cingular about getting an unlock code for the phone to utilize it in Brazil, and within 3 days that was provided. Went down to Brazil, bought a SIM Chip from TIM, had the code for the phone from Cingular to unlock it after installing the phone, but to may surprise, the phone powered up with the new SIM Chip installed and NO Problems !!! WOW!! Phone Syncs just fine, everything works, does not drop signal or calls (this is in Los Angeles, Atlanta in the US and Sao Paulo, Sao Jose dos Campos in Brazil)... I am very happy with the phone. I am not concerned with the camera; in fact I wish they would have offered this phone without a camera so that I could use it at work, instead of sitting outside in the car. I would say the only con to the phone is the speaker phone and the tinny sound through the ear piece (which when you adjust the sound level down goes away).

MPX220 nice on the outside, nothing on the inside

Don't get me wrong, cool looking phone...but thats about it.

Pros-
-small flip phone
-bluetooth
-windows mobile 2003 SE

Cons-
-horrible camera, practically useless
-phone quality, whats the point of a phone if you can't talk/hear people on it
-price

overall, i think motorola rushed this one out, too buggy, and it was recalled...so thats can't be good

there are acouple of things you must understand... this phone as far as a phone is solid... there are firmware updates you may need to get for the phone.. there are no issues and you have to remember this is more pda then phone so you have to treat it as such or at least think that way as far as battery life... smartphones will never have 16 days standby or 10 hours talk time cause they do 2 much... also phones that are unbranded seem to run better.. i am sure you can ask manufactuer to unbrand it and it should be better however you will have to reprogram for your carriers settings... but should run smoother... its a weird quark i have found in most phones... like my v600 i unbranded it and it works 10 times better then any other v600 out there... i recommend you update... the phone with moto... the phone is a great phone and i will recommend it to anyone
