GARBAGE!!!!

May 7, 2005 by short27cake

First of all I want to start off by commending Motorola for packing all these features (similar to the V400) into this toy they call a phone.

Pros:
-Great reception
-Great battery power
-Speakerphone works before other party answers (unlike the V400)
-Multiple names per #

Cons:
-Screen is as big as a CHEEZ-IT cracker
-Camera is blurry, not a good image/looks like the picture was taken under water
-Contrast is horrible and you can barely see. The ink in an etch-a-sketch is much better
-Only Barbie can dial #s on this keypad
-Volume is not loud enough, sounds muffled when phone is laying down
-Backlights are white and ink is grey, looks like the generic phone displays at the store
or the toy cell phones with bubblegum

I can see why this phone is free. Cingular should reconsider using Motorola phones, its obvious that after the V400 everyone was laid off and monkeys took over. I wouldn't even recommend this phone to Barbie, she's way too high maintenance for such a piece of junk. This phone should be considered an entry level flip that was considered to be up to par in 1995. I don't know what Motorola was thinking, I'm even ashamed to say that I actually accepted this model as an upgrade from the V400. I'll be returning it faster than you can read this review.
TIP: Instead of discontinuing the V400 and making these crappy models Motorola should STOP, and THINK ABOUT IT. For if they continue to make this type of crap, NOKIA will always and forever be the #1 manufacturer that you can depend on. Everyone knows that Nokia's don't have the best looking phones, but you can drop them in a pool of water, down a flight of stairs, run over it with a car, and it will still work afterward.

V220...not worth it

Okay, so I got this phone in July.
When I first got it, it worked fine...the screen had good quality, the camera was pretty decent, and I could hear fine on it. The only apparent problem was the clicking when I opened & closed it.
Over the past 9 months I've had this phone, I now realize how much it really sucks.
Now that I've had it, it clicks ALOT when you open and close it.
I can't hear out of the ear piece anymore, I HAVE to put it on speaker phone to hear it, and even with that, it still sucks.
The camera is fuzzy and there's no flash, so it has to be in perfect light to even remotely see the picture.
I've had to replace the faceplate 3 times because the area around the camera turns a funny color. [Once blue, once black, and once white]
And it also scratches VERY easily.

Pros
Easy texting
Good ringtone sound
Good background LCD quality
Okay features

Cons
Crappy camera
Bad ear piece sound
1 game, and it's a demo?
Not enough good ringtones...only 2-3 decent ones, the rest are so pointless
Not much of a looker
Bad reception almost everywhere [I live close to Indianapolis, Indiana and have Cingular]

So I suggest...if you're looking to buy a new phone, DO NOT buy the Motorola V220.

not the best choice...

Well, I had received this phone back in October of 2004, and I was extremely excited to have a camera phone. My parents had just switched us to Cingular (from Verizon) and it seemed as if I got a good new service and phone. However, most people are right when they say that the camera is very disappointing. The lighting is terrible, and the picture is blurry. Also, the antenna comes off very easily, which is never good. However, this phone never completely broke down on me. The screen would sometimes get cut and the colors would reverse, but the phone never wouldn't make a call for me. And I always got service (but I suppose that's because I live in DC). So no, I would not recommend this phone to anyone because my sister got it as well, and her screen and front monitor broke without her even touching it. As a result, I am now using a Nokia 6102 which I am happy with.

wow..is all i can say

the reception sucks. my crappy company doesn't help either though. but this phone doesn't have a very good camera, the sound sucks and its kinda confusing...

Not really good

The Motorola v220 is a good phone for the price. Just communicating and talking with people..is all you want to do then this phone is for you. The v220 screen is tiny..and has a fuzzy look, the VGA camera is the worst camera ever, motorola should'nt have added this feature because the pic's are really bad, and because of that I have used it like 3 times only. Playing games on the phone is also useless because ..the screen is small and fuzzy looking, and not very attracting.

Pros:
Nice Look
Good Communication
MP3 Ring tones
USB Data Cable (which kinda takes a million years to work)

Cons:
Bad Camera
Small Screen
Low Volume
Bad Battery life

THIS SUCKS!!

I got the Motorola V220 thru an insurance claim. When I first laid eyes on it, I thought it was so cute because it's so small. Then I realized that the camera has horrible resolution, the speaker phone sucks, it comes with hardly any ring tones, and the screen is the smallest I've seen on any phone!!
well, there is some good things about this phone: the camera colors can be changed to sepia, black & white, red, blue, and green and that's pretty cool. And the mp3's are a plus even tho the speaker is crappy. it's weird that when your phones ringing you can actually feel the speaker moving inside and that can't be good. you can even feel the speaker moving when you tap on your phone.
so, if you're looking for a good phone...don't get this one.

Don't Waste Your Time and Money

I was sent this phone from Cingular as a replacement for my LG L1200. What a mistake! Very 'plastic' feeling, you can feel the clamshell closing spring wiggle after I closed the phone.

Camera quality was what sent me over the edge. Screen is dark and small. Couldn't even see the pictures. Not even comparable to the LG. When I called Cingular the guy said they've gotten loads of calls on this and the 400. Too bad, appears to have nice features, speakerphone, etc. Software is confusing on this one, and I'm not really a novice by now.

Overall quality is just POOR.

worst piece of s|-|it ever

What a POS

This phone is crap. This is my third (they keep sending me the same crap after it breaks under my insurance agreement), and I have several friends with them. They are all crap. My wife has one, it is crap. Cingular could care less, and will not let me upgrade until my initial contract period is up. If I want a new phone, I pay full retail to get one, more than Joe off the street that isn't a current customer...and I have FOUR phones with these pricks. Between this phone and Cingular, I'm not sure who to be more PO'd about. Cingular personnel should be wearing hoods and ski-masks to work. The government should step in and fine these crooks. If I ran my business like this I'd be bankrupt. However, Cingular has the great advantage of being able to mess up your credit score if you don't 'agree' with them. Unbelievable.
