LG-7000 Average at best

Jul 13, 2005 by gopack0304

I have had the LG 7000 for about 6 months now. The phone is very user-friendly nice size and good battery life. Since I purchased the phone I had questioned its signal strength and the fourth of July weekend confirmed it. The LG 7000 has always had minimal signal strength to no service at my house, and when I spoke with Verizon they said I was the furthest point b/n 2 towers which is why I had a minimal signal at my house. Needless to say, during my fourth of July party a friend of mine had just purchased the Motorola V710 and was with Verizon as well. He consistently had 2-3 bars of signal strength compared to no signal strength with my LG. That Tuesday I called Verizon explained the situation and switched out my LG for the V710. The signal strength is twice as good, I can now use my cell phone at home.
If you are in a fringe coverage area do not go with LG. The V710 is just a better phone.

Too bad about the speaker!

Dec 2, 2004 by extremedave

Verizon service, had a V60 for years. Wanted better browser capability, color, and a camera. Incredibly pleased with the user input, phone book, and text messaging. As a hardcore text message user, I do agree with other reviewers that the clear and camera buttons could be reversed, but the T9 input rocks. Little bit cumbersome to setup speed dials. Keypad well laid out and buttons decent sized. Very nice, quality feel to phone even though it's all plastic.

Screen is gorgeous to look at, never thought using my phone as a browser could be this nice. Pics are fine, video is fun but limited. It is a phone, after all. So far no problems with digital-only service, but haven't really traveled with it yet. Overall, I really, really like this phone but for the lack of a speaker. Even if I do switch to something else to get the speaker I would really miss this one.

Pros:
Display is excellent, I love looking at this thing.
Menu, especially intuitive. Few roadblocks.
Sound quality is very nice.
Voice dial works impeccably once setup.
Appearance is great to me, mileage may vary.
Charges quickly.

Cons:
Battery life is somewhat suspect.
NO SPEAKERPHONE!!
External display should display time, missed calls and waiting messages without opening.
No vibe/then ring setting.

Another Great LG Phone

Nov 10, 2004 by J.Stallion

I've had the LG 7000 phone for about 2 weeks now and have the following comments about it. Keep in mind that I previously owned the LG 6000 and was extremely happy with that phone, so most of my comments are in comparison to the LG 6000.

It's also safe to say that there may be software updates to this phone in the near future which may address some or all of the "con's" listed below.

Pro's:
- Video Capabilities -- the cool thing is you can email them to any email address and with a free quicktime download, anyone can view the attachment.
- Camera Resolution is better than the 6000
- The inside LCD display is noticeably larger and brighter
- W/Verizon you get MobileWeb 2.0 so now you get a more graphic web browser than w/MobileWeb 1.0. A much better internet experience w/this phone as compared to the 6000.
- The storage capacity for pictures is doubled.
- Rotating Camera Lens, so you can be in the picture if you want.
- Sound quality is excellent and ringers are very loud if on highest setting.

Con's:
- Unable to change ringer volume using volume buttons on the side of the phone (useful in placing the phone in Vibrate mode without opening the phone). Again the 6000 had this feature.
- No Voice Memo feature which I used quite a bit with the 6000
- Unable to advance thru text messages while viewing them. You have to close the message you are viewing to open another. With the 6000 you could quickly cycle thru all your text msg's.
- No vibe & ring setting.
- Poor Flash performance with camera
- when replying to text messages, no option to include text from the message you have just read (again unlike the 6000)
- When opening the flip to take a call, there is a bit of a delay so you have to wait a second or two after opening phone before saying "hello". If you don't pause, the other person never hears you answer usually resulting in you having to say "hello" again.

The pro's far outweigh the con's for this model phone. Highly recommended.

Great Phone, Worth the Money

I was wondering whether I should wait or not for the Lx8000. I got tired of waiting and just bought the Lx7000. This phone is great. I got it one week ago and it has everything I suspected that would be on it. The only reason why I didnt give it five stars is because it has a few things that could be better. Here is what you want to here:
Pros:
Nice video recording.
Really loud and great ringtones.
Ability to have vibrate and ring at the same time.
Nice L.E.D lights that flash.
Cool Picture ID.
Ability to record your own ringtones.
Really nice main screen with lots of color. Big.
External screen with o.k color.
Full rotation camera with cool features, flash, black and white, and more.
Lots of storage space.
Cons:
Not able to put banner on external screen unless you have no service for the Verizon Wireless banner to not show.
Never really understood what the "themes" are for the phone.
Big and long.
Not that much of a clear camera with not alot of zoom.
No speakerphone.

The cons I just wrote dont matter at all to me I was just saying how the phone could be better. I was being really picky. Anyways no phone is perfect that is why i gave it a 4.5 instead of a 5.

PS: Go buy the phone.

Great Phone

Just got my vx7000 a week ago and I love it, it's way better than my Moto t720. The Moto was so buggy and the extended battery would last less than 2 days on a full charge. I'm definitely glad I chose an LG.

Pros:
-beautiful color screen
-great battery life
-menus easy to navigate
-good reception (comparable to other phones I have had in the same service area)
-good camera functions
-comes in black now instead of only blue/purple

Cons:
-a little on the large side (but not ridiculous)
-no extendable antenna
-no speakerphone (wait for vx8000 if this is important)

AWESOME PHONE

This is one fantastic device. I have had almost every phone imaginable from both Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile. Only 3 of which i have really liked. This is def. one of those three.

The Sound Quality is amazing! Screen clarity is uncanny! Reception is great but again that is usually effected by the carrier. Camera beats the hell out of the Motorola V710 (Which I Had). There is a great array of accessories for this phone. No bluetooth...but not a biggie.

All in all practically a great unit. Way to go LG!

Wonderful Change

Sep 22, 2004 by vcurry01

I have had Verizon service for 3 years. I recently upgraded from the Samsung A-310 to the LG 7000. Because I wanted to get a camera phone. I have had LG-7000 now for 30 days and I love it. I was a little worried about the size of the phone but it is great.

Pros.
The volume is super clear you can hear everything.
I like the rotating camera.
The camera has a lot of functions.
The caller Id picture is nice.
I like the EZ tip helper.
It has 3 alarm clocks with a snooze. I use this all the time.
The voice dialing works with any type voice.
I suggest the phone to anyone.

I use this web site every time my family want to buy a new phone. And I like the reviews people give it helps.

Cons: None who cares about a speaker phone use your ear piece. :)

Simply the Best

LG has hit the mark w/the VX7K. This phone is awesome. Easily beats the comparison hands down.

PROS:
- Screen resolution is incredible (check it out for yourself)
- Amazing sound quality
- Multiple options
- Swivel camera comes in real handy
- Sturdy and not cheap feeling like other phones

CONS:
- Flashing LED light during incoming calls can be excessive at times (good for finding your phone in the dark though)
- Menu style cannot be changed around from the default format

I had an old LG and upgraded to the Audiovox 8900. I took the 8900 back after 1 day. It was worth about as much as a doo-doo flavored popsicle at a kids b-day party!!! I picked up the VX7K and have loved it ever since. I strayed away from LG for a minute and paid the price...

Check out the VX7K for yourself, you won't be disappointed!

Very pleased with the VX-7000

SIZE
The size is not bad at all! I was a bit worried about it being too big before I saw the phone in person but it's a really nice, comfortable size. I like that the microphone is close to my mouth when using the phone (as opposed to my old bar-shaped phone). Does not feel too big or bulky.

APPEARANCE
I like the blue case. It's not as dark as the pictures show it to be, & it's metallic. Love the two LCD screens. The outer one illuminates when you open the phone, then it goes to a very soft backlighting, then it goes blank on powersave. I don't mind this because all you have to do is open the phone to turn it back on. The inner screen works the same way. The inner display is *gorgeous*. Very sharp & clear display, even on the dim backlighting. There are also small lights above the external display that flash colors when you get an incoming call, but it's fairly subtle - they don't go all the way around the phone!

CAMERA
I actually didn't get this phone because of the camera. I'm neutral about camera phones, but this phone seemed to be the best option for my New Every 2 (NE2) phone. I must say the camera is rather nice - it's not a megapixel but the photo quality is good. I like having a flash, too.

SOUND
Had the phone for a day, so I haven't talked on it much. However, I like the sound quality - it has a "full" sound (in Portland, OR). The biggest con here are the ringtones - only one actually sounds like a phone, and that's what I wanted! Few options here.

OVERALL CON
I don't like that it doesn't have analog mode. My car once broke down in a mountain area & I was glad to have the analog service on my old Verizon phone to call for help. With an all-digital phone, I'd be stuck. This is more a problem that companies are focusing on being all-digital. If you don't need analog, it's a fantastic phone.

PRICE
If you're eligible for NE2, I strongly recommend this phone (about $70 after the rebate). Worth every penny and then some!
