Sanyo VM 4500

Feb 15, 2004 by jammin

This is the best phone that i have ever used for sprint, or any other cell phone company. If you are even remotely thinking about getting this phone... GET IT!! I got it thinking that i would use the video camera once in a blue moon, but i use it all the time. The phone is very easy to use and the Menu's are superbly easy to navigate. This is by far the best phone out on the market. Everything on the phone is a pro except for the battery, which is just a bit short, but still good. I can not say anything about the Ready Link feature b/c i do not know anyone who has the service yet, but i do have the ability, just waiting for friends to get it too. Other than that, the phone is great, get it and you won't be disappointed.

Great Phone!

VERDICT
I'm delighted so far with this phone on the Sprint PCS service. I will be able to get rid of my land-line! I don't work for either company :-)

RECEPTION
Crisp, clear, full. I'm getting 4 bars with the Sanyo in my house where I'd gotten only 2-3 bars with the Cingular GSM Siemens S56 and 2 bars with the TMobile GSM Motorola V300. I also get 4 bars here with the Cingular TDMA Motorola 331t and 3-4 bars with Verizon CDMA Motorola Timeport 270c. The Sanyo is the best. I haven't driven or traveled much with it yet, but reception on the road so far has been very good. I'm in a Philadelphia suburb.

SPEAKERPHONE
It is really and truly a "hands-free" speakerphone, comparable in quality to the excellent speaker on the Motorola Timeport 270c. The phone can be sitting on the desk (e.g. while you type) and you can hear clearly what the person on the other end is saying and vice-versa. Volume is adjustable. A separate [SPEAKER] button located between the [Talk] and [End] buttons on the keypad turns it on/off, and you can use it with the phone closed.

ERGONOMICS
This is a beautifully engineered phone with a solid, quality feel. Easy-to-read backlit buttons with good tactile response. High-res display.

BATTERY LIFE
At this point, I haven't had the phone long enough to know, although an Editor's Review on Amazon.com said it was fantastic: twelve (12) days on standy and it was able to hold a call for 4 hrs 15 minutes. There's also an extended battery available.

MENUING
Well laid out and easy to use.

OTHER FEATURES
Abundant: Camera. Mini camcorder. Voice-activated dial. Voice-memo. Etc.
