Samsung wins me back...

Jan 20, 2004 by Pet Rock

You would be hard-pressed to find a better value flip phone anywhere. In Austin,TX I've found that I have better coverage and call quality with this GSM than with 2 prior TDMA Nokia's (Not that nokia's are bad; I love them... it's a testament to the Samsung) The menus are very intuitive, the screen is easily readable and the back-light doubles as a flashlight! I have been able to get about 5 days between charges with approx 30 min - 1 hour per day on the phone (mMode and voice). The included ring tones are cheesy at best, but that's what 3gupload and other similar sites are for. The size is downright mindbogglingly (?) small and the corresponding weight makes it disappear in your pocket. The organizer features are well rounded and simple enough to make good use of. Obviously everyone's mileage may vary, but that's why ATTWS gives you 30 days to try it out. Try it, love it, and smile knowing that you spent half as much for a phone that is twice as solid as your neighbor's!

Decent phone, poor headset

Feb 21, 2004 by sdgeiger

Overall I like this phone, but my biggest problem is:

1. There is a humming sound when using the headset. My family owns two phones, and both phones experience the same problem, so this is not the case of a damaged device.

In addition, I wish there was an infared option so I could beam my addresses from my Palm handheld to the phone. I could do that with my Nokia phone. It takes forever to enter phone numbers.

Not as good as the e105 suprisingly

I sell these, as well as own them and an E105. it lacks a couple things that the e105 does but is still a very nice phone.....especially for the money. Samsung is by far my favorite brand. The menus are simple (not hard at all for those of you who said they are.) Also the ringers are insanely loud....louder than any other phone i can think of. Keep in mind that these ringers are polyphonic so they aren't gonna be high pitched shrieking noises like the nokias, whom people seem to say have louder ringers. In volume Samsung all day long, but if you want a phone that will blister your eardrums then you want nokia.

Very nice color display, easily functionable, very customizable, blah blah blah.

I will admit that the mouthpiece is a tad sensitive. My friend has the phone and i have to tell him to get off the Mic so i can understand him. All you have to do is pull it away from your mouth and you're golden. The ear piece is very loud as well....and you have the side buttons to adjust the volume very easily.

Now for being crappy signalwise.........It has nothing to do with the phone. It may be a minute difference if any. AT&T GSM is terrible and cingulars isn't so hot either (compared to Tmobile) I get so irritated when people blame the phone for service with any carrier, unless the antennae is broken or something of course.

All around good phone for the price (about $100 less than the E105) but you always get what you pay for.

It's okay..

the samsung x427m is an ok phone. with all the cingular cell phones i've been through, i have had good reception. with this phone the reception is good. I really can't tell you if it's a good idea to get it really. because it's up to you. you have to decide and judge it for yourself.

pros:
-good reception (area dependent)
-ok games
-loud-enough-to-be-heard ringtones
-decent internet service
-good text messaging

cons:
-easy to get damaged
-and that's all i can really say about the phone. because i like it

BIG things come in small packages!

SAMSUNG X426 IS AWESOME!
I've had this phone for 2+ yrs and I love it. Except for not having external caller ID and more ring tones, this phone is the best.
It is the best design of a cell. It fits perfect in your hand, pocket, against your ear-perfect!

Unfortunately, Suncom tricked me into up-grading for their network, (Greensboro, NC), what a mistake. They gave me THE worst cell I've ever owned, the NEC232 camera phone. DON'T GO NEAR IT! And now I can't go back :(

Mediocre Phone

I've used the Samsung x426 for about a year and a half. It's passable but does leave a lot to be desired. First off, battery life is not what it's claimed to be by Samsung. The battery charge lasts 3 - 5 days and a max of 2.5 hours of talk time. Also, I've had many disconnects when first dialing a number and reception is sometimes poor; both these problems could be the ATT/Cingular service, but friends with the same service don't have as many of these problems as I do. I'm looking to change the phone and possibly the service provider.

Nice First Samsung!

Just got this phone, and already I like it. It's my first Sammy.

PROS:

--Reception is very good.
--Call quality is clear.
--Nice compact size.
--Ringtone volume is good.
--Clamshell design.

CONS:

--Can't seem to find a way to keep text messaging from defaulting to T9, but I'll have to read the manual :-)
--No external caller ID, but this is remedied by setting it on answering delay.
--Included ringtones are strange, but there are a couple of actual rings on there, and you can download others.

This is a nice basic phone if all you do is call, message, and occasionally use wireless internet. Don't slam it for no camera or bluetooth--it's not in that price category. Rate it for what is--a good entry-level phone!

I thought this phone was cool at first!

Ok, I had only gotten this phone for two reasons 1. My old trusty LG L1200 was beginning to have problems, like it would go black for no reason and stuff, and battery was beginning to suck. 2. I saw my friend with this phone and I told myself I have to have it. You get what you pay for though.

PROS:
-The phone is small and lightweight, it didn't even look like i had the phone on me when it was in my pocket.
-1000 contacts plus 250 sim is good too, the phone even allowed you to put multiple sim contacts under one name not individually.
-Battery life is the bomb on this phone!! I could go at least a week without recharging it.
-Menu's were somewhat easy to understand, but i'm an old nokia user and I was just spoiled by nokia.
-and I really like the plug on the bottom of the phone for the battery.

CONS:
-Reception was really good when I first got it, then it started cutting out.
-the phone was very slippery when you got sweaty.
-The phone accumulates a lot of scratches on it and I only had the phone for about 5 months. I wonder what it would've looked like in 10 months.
-I slowly began to get tired of the flip phone style so pretty much only bar phones for me now on.
-You can't see the display very well in very bright or somewhat dim lighting.
-and it's not totally customizable like nokias.

Not Bad not bad at all

I got this phone about 4 months ago and don't regret getting it that much. It's a great phone able to download the best of wallpaper and ringtones i've gotten my phone so tricked out that i'm making friends with phones that cost 3 times as much jealous the simple menu design is great for text messaging and setting up customizable features even for the most illiterate cell phone user the voice quality is second to none the only problems is the volume is a little tricky and can easily go from audible to ear shattering to audible again it's a little finicky with coverage don't get full signal strength all the time usually between 2-4 bars when my friends azre getting full strength with the same company however even at 2 bars you don't even notice it the voice quality comes through clear as a bell and the best part of all i still have not had a single dropped call even when i was making calls with only 1 bar of signal strength all in all i found this phone to be great except for a litlle quirk or 2 but i would highly recommend it to monetary disabled people like myself who want their phone to stand out with a nice shape good ringtones and awesome wallpaper( i got girls in bikinis on mine)
