Love my A670 :-)

Oct 4, 2004 by jh1234

OK, i have been spending alot of time reading your comments before I bought this phone - very helpful...I finally bit the bullet yesterday and bought it - I love it! Its small enough, cute enough and has fun features such as the camera and video recorder. No speaker-phone though, but if i wanted everyone to hear my conversations i would have bought a nextel! The volume on the phone is good, not excellent like my LG but works well. Also, those who cant figure out how to turn the front display on without opening the phone - hold down the side buttons for 1 second and then let go. The light will go on for about 5 seconds! It would be nice if the front display was a little sharper but it serves its purpose! Camera is fun to play with - definitely is nice when wanting to capture pix while out with friends...its better then lugging a full size digital camera around! Lastly, people said that they were having trouble with losing calls because its all digital - I live in literally, a dead zone in my town and the reception so far is excellent! Overall I would recommend this phone to anybody!

great phone

This phone is a very good, but there are a couple pf problems on it. one is that it should have more chord ringtones, speaker phone so the ringers would be louder, and also the video does not work too goo it skips and you can not zoom in while video taping and it should record for longer time.

it is a good looking phone and works good, if it had those features above it would be a perfect phone.

Good Phone. What I expected & more.

Well, what can I say. I purchased this phone over a week ago w/ my company discount. I must admit I'm pleased as this is a few steps up from my age old Sprint Motorola 8767. I've grown very disappointed w/ Sprint as their phones are very high priced and their discounts are miniscule. Been a customer for 7 yrs.

This phone is solid. The pros are Good - Good color on displays, text msg'g, nice menu and 2nd display which also shows caller id. I'm pleased. I need to dive more into the phone as far as downloading ringtones and get into the picture msg'g. The phone takes good pictures in the light and up close.. the video is somewhat par / sub-par. What do you expect, it's a cell phone first? Besides no speakerphone, no bluetooth and no walkie talkie capability this phone is very good. I don't like the "cuteness" part of it as my girlfriends calls it.. but I can deal with it. I would recommend this phone to anyone. I like it. I'm definitely waiting for the next Samsung improvement. Peace out.

This is great!

I've had this phone for a month now and it's great. I love the blue keys. The size is so compact but it's not so small that it is difficult to use. I've read reviews of others complaining about the volume of the ringer, but I have not had that same problem.

I only have 2 cons:
First: It took awhile to get used to the changing the phone to silent (and making sure all of the alerts were on silent too). It also took some playing around with the phone to figure out how to change the alerts for voicemail and text messages.

Second: The cover for the earpiece is a pain. Like others have said, it takes a lot of work to get the rubber piece open, unless you have nails. I have to make sure my earpiece is plugged in before I start driving, otherwise there is no chance of plugging it in while I am already driving.

Overall, I love this phone. After previously having the Motorola T730, this is a definite upgrade for me. This phone feels so sturdy. Plus, gotta love those blue keys!

Good Sound! Good Camera

I just bought this little phone and am please with it. The sound is very good for this size of phone, the cam is good too.

One con... the microphone is not located in the middle of the phone (it is right corner). So, if you are right handed... the sound quality is less than good. You will have to talk with the left hand.

NOT AT ALL PLEASED

Oct 25, 2004 by LGLOVER

I was offered by my insurance carrier the Samsung A670 because my LGVX6000 was not available. I needed a phone, so I agreed. I was very disappointed! The calendar that I used as a diary on my LG is not available with the A670. I cannot go back in time to enter something I want to remember. I cannot rename speed-dial locations--I lose the whole information completely if I overwrite the location. I completely miss the Tip-Calculator on my LG. I cannot change the font size on the A670, nor can I designate ringtones for identified callers, unidentified callers, family (you get the picture). The picture resolution of the camera is very poor compared to the LGVX6000. All the Samsung A670 did for me was appreciate my LGVX6000 and will not choose any other brand! I'm definitely an LG Lover!

Flawed Phone

Been forced to be with this phone for two years now, had to get it replaced a few times.

My first phone out of nowhere had it's right hinge break for no apparent reason (I'm very careful with my phones).

The second one went into this continuous reboot, where it'd never get past the networking stage.

I also find the camera very annoying, the shutter sound will not turn off even when your phone is on silent mode. The camera is also easily activated in your pocket, so this tends to get very annoying.

This phone can get VERY hot when you use it for an extended amount of time, and the worst part about that is the lack of a speakerphone.

The phone also seems a bit slow when you have any custom wallpaper on it.

not bad, consider other options before buying

first of all, I'm on my third one. The first two had mechanical problems (stuck key, crackalie speaker connection). Yea, verizon gave me free replacements, but what a pain in the butt to switch things out.

Pros-
-Easy to navigate menus
-Bright, decent-sized screens (innner and outer)
-Large keys and display font
-Contacts are very customizeable
-Overall a kink-free phone with plenty of options and customizations for those who like to mess around with settings, etc.

Cons-
-Main complaint: speaker for ringing is on front and if in your pocket, will virtually mute it (yea, cells are obnoxious, but if im gonna have one, i wanna hear it)
-Battery life is pretty shabby
-Not reliable (to me, hence my third replacement - others will disagree)
-Camera button on right side will occasionally get pushed and camera will waste battery taking pictures of inside of your pocket.
-" of phone diminishes with use - after awhile, things seem kinda loose and ready to fall apart, but what phone doesnt do that, i suppose

Overall: I would not trash talk this phone by any means, but I have seen and used better ones and I'm switching to Motorola e815 or another slightly more complex model. Samsung just didnt impress me enough to wanna stick with it.

Its ok but lacks some key items

All in all I feel the phone is ok. I have had it for 5 days now and I know I can not stay with the phone. It does not have two features that I need in my line of work that are critical. The first being automatic silent. If I want silent I want silent. I do not want to have to go in and turn off all the messages tones etc. Any other phone I have had silent means silent no sounds what so ever. Another big factor for me is the Ignore. You can ignore and incoming call but you can not ignore an incoming call during call waiting. Which is annoying to hear the beep and interupt your conversation but it is also rude to the other person calling you. Since we all know that verizon allows the other person to know when you are on a phone call with that tone beep. Too some of you it might not be that big of a deal but to me it is I need my silent and ignore at all times...I am going to try the Motorola v70 out...

External Display Option

Oct 8, 2004 by alicia.j

After reading the other reviews I wanted to point out that there is an option to view the external display without having to remove the phone from the holster and open it. Simply hold down either up/down arrow on side of phone for 2 seconds and display is lit. Also for those concerned with battery life and the phone heating up - make sure the Keypad and LCD Backlight options in Settings menu are set to 5, 10 or 15 seconds. If either (or both) options are on "Folder Open" the battery life and temperature of equipment can be greatly affected. Overall I am very satisfied w/ this phone and would recommend it to anyone.
