Not to impressed

Apr 11, 2004 by jatest102984

At first I thought this phone was absolutely amazing. Ive now had it for 4 months, and Ive been without it for 2.5 of the months. Upon getting my phone it functioned fine for the first month and a half. Then the phone would not power on. So I took it in and it was sent off and i was given a loaner. I finally after 2 long months got it back and I had it for about 2 days and it was broken again and would not power up. I had not dropped the phone or anything. So in conclusion as far as style and looks this phone is top of the line, but if your like me and need a phone you can rely on and is durable this phone just will not cut it.

Don't Buy This Phone!

Jan 26, 2006 by janey312

I was buying my second cell phone after mine broke and the slider looked really cool but when i got it and started using it I hated it. The battery life is horrible. If I'm talking to my friend on the phone the battery will die after half an hour. I'm a fast text messenger and I use EZ-mode. It's impossible to text fast on this phone using predictive text because it goes to slow. and the buttons are too small so often times letters get mixed up or don't get pressed at all. My antenna broke off easily and the screen got scratched up since there is no cover for it. The only good thing I like is the speakerphone, but if it's too loud it is scratchy. If you're thinking of buying this phone then DON'T! instead try the Samsung A670. That was my first phone before I dropped it and it was great!

bad bad bad.

this phone is terrible! i've had it since early august, so in the past 5 or so months, it has been nothing but trouble!

pros-
-games (i LOVE tetris, so it gets some points there)
-menu is easy to use
-okay selection of ringtones
-unique sliding
-calculator and tip calculator are handy

cons-
-extremely small buttons, works for me because i have small hands but definitely would make text messaging difficult if otherwise
-antenna breaks off very easily
-i get poor reception, but that is probably more because of my carrier, not the phone itself..or the fact that my antenna snapped off!
-scheduler is pretty difficult to use
-the BATTERY LIFE of this phone is TERRIBLE. i will charge the phone while i am sleeping at night, and wake up, use it for 15 minutes, and it dies.
-with such poor battery life, i have to constantly change my phone. well GUESS WHAT? you can not charge the phone while it is in use. so if you're on the phone (for you know, about 15 minutes) and it dies, you can not even plug it in, and call your friend back. you have to let it charge for at least an hour, and THEN call your friend back to talk for 15 minutes. extremely annoying and really not acceptable.

this is a GREAT phone if you want poor battery life and small buttons.
i am getting a new phone tomorrow, and plan on running this over with my jeep afterwards.

Okay.....

the phone was okay. at first i was obsessed... well here are the pros and cons, because i don't want to talk all day. haha okay here.

Pros:
~Easy to open
~Attention getter at first
~Pretty cool ScreenSaver and Wallpapers
~A hole to put in string and decorations. like those beady things i make. its a hole and you can hang stuff from it.
~Speaker

Cons:
~People try to open your phone like a clam phone and it worries me if it'll get broken.
~Randomly has weird problems 45% of the time.
~Sliding ring gets annoying
~bad ringers.... the good ones you have to buy
~no games.... you have to buy those too.
~OKAY battery
~makes mark easily; scratches easy
~Hard to text message
~Speaker loud but hard to understand; too loud you can't hear it very well.

I love it, but i'm thinking of getting a new KYOCERA KX2, for all of these reasons. i mean i don't mind it, i'm not a perfectionist, i hoped i helped you decide if you wanted it or not!

Fun

I first got this phone in March soon after it became available where I live. I was the first person I knew to have it. Although it was my frist cell phone my family has had several that we shared. My phone is the one which I got through Verizon, (reception is good customer service and billing leave A LOT to be desired) When I first got the Phone I really enjoyed it, it was differant and fun. One of my friends liked it so much she wanted to get one from Verizon, however the people at the Verizon store informed her they were no longer going to carry the phone because it was junky! for the first few months I would have dissagreed 8 months later...the phone is now just another phone without a lot of options and the buttons are small the arrow pad is annoying you can't find faceplates...my phone doesn't have this problem but some people say their phone slides shut easily during conversations, mine still clicks but I'm sure it will need to be replaced before my 2 years is up...this phone is a waste of money!

Cute phone but very poor quality

Oct 27, 2004 by markie11

This is a very cute phone, which is why I purchased it. There's no denying that it's one of the nicest non-camera phones Verizon sold at the time. In terms of looks and features. I'm on my second warranty replacement, unfortunately. Third phone. First due to audio problems and second due to bad buttons on the top half. This phone should not be sold, and is not anymore. In addition the screen is poor quality and hard to read. I'm probably going to end up buying a new one at full retail within a few months. I'm thinking of picking up a VX4600 for $130. Buying this phone is a great regret and I will not buy or consider buying a Kyocera phone again.

Not for men

If I had to dial 911 in an emergency, I couldn't on this phone. The keys are flat and close together. I have large hand/fingers. I frequently misdial with this phone.

The menu jog dial is not for someone of my size.

Great sound quality and background noise compensation.

half good half bad, unacceptable

First, nobody at VZW knows how to really operate this phone, kyocera cust. serv. has problems as well. Kyocera told me that VZW is shipping with a defective and early OS version. VZW parrots tell me that their phone like all of their other products is perfect. The phone bood does not allow alpha dialing, only their fast dial mode (which is useful, but not working properly on the VZW version of the OS - it works on the OS that they're using at the kyocera cust. serv. - it is 3 upgrades more recent.) or you can scroll through your list of 60 names beginning with s (alpha dialing only goes to the first of that letter)

otherwise, the case is compact, but still easy to use, the speaker phone comical (speaker on the bottom, microphone on the top - placed on a car seat you can either hear your friend or talk to them, not both!) Voice quality & reception seemed good (brief trial) but tinny. Manual incomplete - so what's new?)
