V60s is a great phone!!!!!!!!!!!

This an underrated phone. This phone is very sturdy and reliable. Speakerphone is great, only thing missing is color screen, but does not take anything away from the phone.

V60s is not what I thought it might be.

I read the reviews and still took a leap of faith because I really liked the design of the phone. Well, the software seemed to be very buggy on mine. I went to the Verizon store to have it updated to the latest software and now it turns on in Speakerphone mode all the time. I found out this is a normal function of the software update. So, I can pretty much say that I won't give many points for the software. The reception bars are almost always at full but yet I get choppy and static like conversations.Once in a while it's clear but most of the time just choppy. Now on to the battery. I've owned 11 cell phone and by far, this is the worst battery I've ever had in terms of how long it lasts. The one that came with my phone was only a 700 mAH battery and the next one up they offer at the store was only a 800 one which hardly makes a dent to me. Oh, if you do find a larger battery you also have to find a larger door for the back because this one only comes with the slim battery door. I tried the speaker on the phone and I really wasn't all that impressed. It does sound better than others but everyone has told me that they have a hard time hearing me when I use it. All in all I would say that this is the worst phone, in my opinion, that I ever spent money on. I ended up selling it to someone else that was geeked about it even after I told them all about it.

v60s an excellent speakerphone

when i first saw this phone, i thought it was crazy thick. at that time i owned a v60i and then wanted to check out the color phones. i upgraded to a samsung a530s, since i was big samsung fan at that time. the a530s was a great small phone, but it has a crappy rubber keypad and the keypad heated up like there was no tomorrow. i missed the moto v60 series and i started to check out the v60s. from all the reviews i read, it was an excellent speakerphone. i bought it the next day and it was difficult, since it was a discontinued phone and my radio shack has one left. i LOVE the phone!! speakerphone was loud and clear and the user interface was has improved from the v60i, it was faster. the weight was nice on the hand, it was like driving a new bmw or a lexus. finding out that i could make calls with the flap closed got me even more excited. yes, i know the battery life could be better, but i highly recommend this phone if you want the best of the best. motorola makes good quality phones.

Fantastic phone, very underated

Ok, here's the deal. I have tried many cellphones and I keep coming back to this one. No problems whatsoever except for average battery life. Do this as a test when walking about town. I'll bet you can say that the v60 is used by more people by at least 5 to 1. In my town, that is all I see. V60's everywhere.

Why do I like it. Call quality is superb! Speakerphone is second to none. Look and feel is classic. Very functional features, little bells and whistles. Want a camera, buy one at Circuit City. A phone is a phone. Price is right. Forgot to mention..great performance overall. I just don't understand some of the negative feedback that I have read. Makes no sense to me and there is no consistency to the complaints. I also have the updated firmware that came out the other day. Phone is magic. Clearly an underated and very classy design that doesn't lose it's appeal.

Pro's: Call quality, great reception. Speakerphone, shortcuts, easy keypad touch, voice dialing is the best. Replaceable front and back covers.

Con's: Battery is average even with the extended. I use the speakerphone quite a bit so maybe I am asking too much. Extended battery is a must. It's a tad big but compared to a Nextel phone, it's tiny.

dropped calls!

stay away from this phone if you plan to use it in low signal area often.

i used to have bias for motorola phones. so about 9 months ago when my startac died, i replaced it with v60s.

at work, where i have full signal strength, v60s is great. i like its more durable metal shell. the speaker phone feature comes in handy.

however, at home, where the signal strength is limited to 2-3 bars, the phone drops calls about 70% of the time. even more often, the calls will break up and degrade to a point that it becomes useless to try to carry on the conversation.

then one day at home, i tried my sister-in-law's samsung a650 (also verizon). its signal strength meter showed 2-3 bars as well, but none of the calls dropped or even degraded. the sound quality was better than my landline. what a revelation!

immediately after, i tried the same numbers with my v60s, and, as usual, i had to stay put at one spot with my head pointed in one particular direction to barely maintain a conversation.

motorola v60s is worthless in low signal areas. if you live, work or visit often such locations, go get a samsung phone. although i really dislike its painted on silver finish which scratches up after few months, its typically smaller, more feature packed, and much better call quality in much broader areas.

It's Okay at Best

I have owned this phone for six months. It is okay at best.

Pros:
Speakerphone comes in handy
small size
loud ringers
tri-mode

Cons:
Speakerphone drains the battery quickly
analog will kill the battery in 30 mins or less
no color screen
battery performance is very short
Almost unusable in analog
side buttons are active even with the phone closed

I would not recommend this phone based on the battery life.

this phone isn't all that bad guys!!

The motorola v60s is a pretty good phone. The only problems I have personally had with it were not "phone" related. They were switch related. As far as delayed voicemails and delayed txt messages, which are switch related, I have not had a problem with this phone. One great speaker phone might I add.

V60s Compared to Timeport 270c

Aug 15, 2004 by DKstef

After my old trusty Motorola Timeport 270c ( Verizon Service in Richmond, VA) got damaged, I bought an Motorola V60s.at the local Verizon store, they told me that that phone was the closest in features to the 270c
as the 270c is no longer available.
First of all I had to use the 1400 MA battery from the 270c in order to have enough power to last for the day. Phone worked great in area's with strong signals, But I travel a lot in rural areas, with somewhat leak signals, lost calls all the time or was unable to make calls ! At home it was the same, lots of lost calls, in the same places, I newer had any problems with the 270c. also I did not like the Key's, no "Click", very easy to use the wrong key.
Battery life is very poor.
Speaker phone works great in area with good signal.
After using the phone for a few weeks, I finally fount a 270C on Ebay and now I can talk where ever i am in my travels, To bad that Motorola can't continue to build a phone like the Timeport 270c.

Good for just a phone.

Great phone, but the casing is weak and creaky.

Stay Away from this phone!!!!!

After owning a V60c for almost 3 years, I decide to "upgrade" to this phone. It has been a nightmare!!! The reception is AWFUL!!The V60c was OK recption wise,(I am in NYC)but this one keeps dropping calls, switches the ringer from vibe/ring to silent, volume control has to be increased on EVERY call!I have only had this phone for 17 days Verizon didnt want to accomodate me but after many many calls to their customer service, I finally got some satisfaction. Also now Verizon has stopped carrying this model so I am going to be getting the V710.My final word is STAY AWAY FROM THIS TERRIBLE PHONE!!!!!
