better than nextel

Aug 19, 2003 by antonio c

wow finally ptt has come out. i just got mine and i love it i had nextel for two years and i was just thowing money away so when this came out i just had to jump on it and where i live its only $149 so way cheaper then a $300 nextel phone. with nextel you can ptt from Chicago to LA but cant make a regular phone call across the street... so you be the judge

nice

I've using this phone for 4 days now and I noticed only few problems. 1st one is when u try to get phone out of the holster u always hit Speaker phone button and it is pretty loud sometimes. 2nd it has to be on express network in order to PTT to work so in my friend's house in Penn it doesn't work. I think that Verizon needs some time to fix it. I think that in less that a month service will get better. Definitely it is better then Nextel which didn't even worked in my house. So I say I'm pretty happy with quality this phone has been made.

Worst phone I've ever had

The V60p is quite possibly the worst phone I've ever owned. The PTT feature is nice, and I have 1X availablility just about everywhere I go (Delaware, technically the Philadelphia market). However, the phone would continually miss calls. The display wouldn't change, but the 1X network would go unavailable, so you know that somebody's calling. No vibration, no ringer. Sometimes, the display would change, but it wouldn't ring or vibrate.

The phone was replaced 8 (yes, eight) times at the local Verizon store, before I switched to a V60s. Once another PTT phone is available, I'll be getting one (hopefully the SCH-A690), but until then, I'm staying as far away as possible from the 60p.

Not a happy camper

I have had this phone for 5 months now on the verizon network. I have never been so unhappy with a cell phone, and I have had a lot of them in my life time working in sales for a communications complay. The PTT with verizon is very slow and often does not work because the network is unavailable. When it does work it drops your connection countless times during a conversation. I can have the two phones in the car and the PTT network is avail on one but not the other. Go figure. When I add up that I'm paying $480.00 per year extra for the ptt ($20 per month X's 2 phones) it's outrageous. My biggest complaint is the belt clip. It sticks out extremely far from your belt causing it to get hit with your arms, on door ways, in the car, etc and constantly falling off, and I'm a skinny guy. I have contacted Motorola and it's a known problem however they do not have a replacement clip yet. Also, I really miss the color display that my old phone had.

However all that said the speaker phone is good! I have called verizon several time and they have expressed they have getting getting a lot returned.

not impressed

i have owned a v60 prior to the v60p and thought it was one of the best phones i owned, and was very excited to get the v60p. i was not as excited when i got it.

cons: battery life is AWEFUL (i have to rotate 2 batteries to avoid going dead), the PTT is aweful (time it takes to connect i could have sent a carrier pigeon with the message) also i do not feel VZW has not marketed or advertised this feature enough, some calls go directly to VM, sometimes have problems dialing out (takes a while, and sometimes i just have to redial), and signal going from full to nothing has been a problem (this could be due to my area)

pros: speakerphone is GREAT, ringers are loud, sound quality is very good.

overall, i am a huge fan of VZW and have been with them for quite some time (thats why i went with there PTT over nextel). however, i would not recommend this phone until VZW can get the PTT and battery life to respectable level. and with number portability, i am actually on the fence about going over to nextel

Push to Talk review

Jan 4, 2004 by JoeyStyles

I have had this phone for about 3 months now I like the push to talk feature and I love the clarity of the speakerphone. But, OH MY GOD if you use the speakerphone to much the battery is gone. That is the biggest complaint I have with this phone. It's a nice looking phone and I like the size of it. One other big complaint I have with this phone is the fact that the phone won't pick up service anywhere and when people call me quite frequently the call goes right to voice mail. Get it now lol yeah ok I wish lol.
But the things that I will applaude Motorola about are the loudness of the ringer and the speaker. I'm definately liking the stud antenna because so many people come into my store daily looking for a replacement antenna for a v60 because the way the old antenna was is ridiculous. Just like any product there are downsides but I think that the upsides out weigh the downsides

v60s a great speaker phone

Dec 31, 2003 by jdc

I traded in a lg4400b for the v60s the day after Christmas.

pros: what a great speakerphone..loud..good quality audio, intuitive menus...a nice selection of vibe alerts to choose from, voice commands for many different functions...good battery life..very solid construction, built like my old motorola pager, which I dropped many times without hurting it.

cons: dim screen; can't change the fonts to make them larger, though there is a zoom-in feature. The leather case does not fit very well on top, seems to be a bit too small.

On balance I like the phone.

The Monopoly Is Over! VIVA!!!VERIZON!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Phone! I have always wanted a V60 phone and always bad timing, But I'm glad I waited to upgrade to the PTT service. I am still awaiting my wifes phone in the mail so I can begin to use the PTT feature. I have no real complaints. I have worked in cellular communications for the last 5 and a half years and I'm very familiar with the quarks experienced when purchasing a new phone with new capabilities. As mentioned in other post here a little time and a software upgrade or two and VERIZON will well on it's way to being the #1 cellular and push to talk provider period.

Thats why I love RadioShack They don't Lie!!!!!!

I bought the V60P phone about two weeks ago for me and my wife and this phone is awesome and the speaker phone is great. Everyone I talk to on the speaker phone says that they can hear me great. The only thing is that The battery doesn't last as Long but that doesn't matter when your phone works great and it is the best. I recommend this phone to everyone.
