Panasonic G50 - small package - weak phone

Sep 21, 2003 by Terence Dittman

The G50 was a hotly anticipated phone, and when I received them, I was disappointed. The keys are confusing, and I often dialled the wrong number. The styling is excellent, and the price is great, however, many versions are from Asia, which lack the GPRS capability. As with the GD55, the speakerphone is weak when compared to other phones with a speakerphone. Call quality is decent. The menu is typical Panasonic, functional, but not up to the quality of Nokia or Sony Ericsson. Our customers have complained of the poor battery life, it often fails to last one day, with reasonable call usage. It is a phone I would recommed to those who are not very heavy users of cellular phones, and whom are conscious about their image. As a workhorse phone, you can do better

this phone is small, cute, gets TONS of attention and has GPRS!! i get great reception anywhere with this phone and the battery life is excellent. Well worth the $150 i paid for it. would recommend any fashion-conscious cell phone user to pick one of these up!!

CUTEST PHONE EVER!!

WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THIS PHONE, I LOVED IT TO DEATH.. IT WAS A REAL EYE CATCHER.

THEN ONLY HAVING IT FOR 4 MONTHS, THE PHONE WOULD TURN ON AND OFF, THE COLOR WOULD FREEZE, THE SCREEN WAS FUZZY AND DARK. THE VOLUME WAS TOO LOW, AND I COULD NOT SEE MY NUMBERS B/C THE SCREEN WOULD BLACK OUT AND I COULDNT GET A HOLD OF ANYONE.

I LIKED THE PHONE AT FIRST BUT I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT THIS PHONE IS A PIECE OF JUNK.

I ONLY LIKED THE PHONE B/C OF THE SIZE.

Panasonic G50-Big Bang in a Mini Package

Moved up from GD55. Great choice. Colors and sounds are very nice over the B/W GD55. Call clarity and reception very good in weak signal areas. Keypad works very well after some adjustment to key markings but keys are very easily accessible for such a tiny dashboard to work with. Call quality is excellent with very loud speaker phone and volume for ring-tones are as loud as you need them to be. Vibrate mode will definitely wake you up in a meeting. Typing must be done quickly as delay before next letter generates is short. Menu layout is very functional and easy on the eyes. Very sexy phone for all users. Long nails not a problem to use the keys. Shortcut menu very handy item. Call features and notifications are very easy to see and understand with over sized bold font for phone numbers. Battery life seems very good overall. Very Classy look for a very cheap price including a well designed external antennae. Too bad the G51 is the only GPRS model so cannot download into available memory of phone for ringers or wallpapers. Would love to hear other ring-tones from this great sound board inside as well as the nice colors for wallpapers available. Battery latch fixed over the weak one on the GD55. Accessories are great prices at around $5 for faceplate's, batteries, cases etc... Scores high marks with me for price, product features and overall sex appeal.

G50...small phone with a BANG of options

This phone was ordered from Hong Kong...and I gave it to my wife...she loved the size, color, and most of all it was a girly phone...so she said. I like the smallness of it as well as the 4063 color screen. The buttons are very nice but for my wife..she has nails and had to learn to get the keys just right. Overall its awesome with GPRS and its triband. But like all good things...there is something bad...and its the battery...its weak!! I charged it and it can only last about a day or less and that is with minimal use. The case can scratch easy and the menu is hard to learn at first. Sometimes the coverage is low but hey its NOT that bad. Over all its a great phone with some good options...so enjoy!!
