Great Phone

Mar 3, 2004 by sneak16

When I was new to Sprint, I decided to stick with the sleek-looking Samsung SPH-a500. Well, I went through about 3 of 'em in about 4 months. Decided on a Sanyo. Best choice I've made in a while.

Pros:
EXCELLENT reception / RF. I get -64 dBm in my room, and I don't have a tower next door or anything.

Nice design. Of course a bit larger than the a500, but neat design.

Mi Amigo. Dunno why Sanyo keeps adding animated characters to their phones, but this lil' green alien dances on your phone when you open it. Gets annoying, but does keep your background interesting.

Web browser. The NetFront 3.0 browser is AWESOME and supports 30 bookmarks (I use EVERY one).

Camera. Didn't buy it for a camera, but hey, it works well. Little jerky, but image quality is good.

Two Charge Inputs. Lets me use my Sanyo charger OR my old Samsung one. Sprint's universal one (Samsung) works well and is smaller. I prefer this one.

Antenna. Not a breakable antenna by any means. No "fixed" parts visible to break.

Cons:
No zoom / flash. More of a picky thing than anything else.

Menus. Not bad, but bland-looking.

Thick. Just a thick phone. Nothin' else.

That about sums it up. Gonna be going on clearance in May or so, so if ya got some money, pick one up before the more expensive (likely) 8200 comes out. Hope you like this phone; I have no major complaints.

I don't like this phone...

I don't like this phone at all and I can't wait until my contract expires in 6 months! First, you only get a vibration alert if you put up the volume on high or no volume at all. There's no in between. I also don't like the white screen. It's a bit bright for me and when I tried to download cool screensavers, it would only show up like really tiny w/ the white screen still in the background. A few weeks ago, my phone would completely shut off when I closed the flip. I now have to close the flip very lightly and look at my sub screen to make sure it didn't turn off just by me closing the flip. Ahh, I'm so frusterated w/ this phone and would not purchase it again!

Awesome phone!

This is a great phone. Especially with the new price ($99). It's very addictive. My only gripe is that some of the ringers I liked at myPhoneFiles.com sound a bit quiet. But I heard it's just how the ringer was made and others sounded great anyway. I spent the entire day on myphonefiles getting new pictures and ringtones. I love it!

Awesome Phone!I Great Deal

I purchased this phone right away when I heard it was coming to Sprint. I use to have the LG 5350,and that phone is like a lemon compared to this phone. For under $100.00 you can get a Sprint PCS vision phone with 65,000 color and a built in camera. The only thing it is lacking is the flash.

Pros:
Good service
Good browser
Great camera
Loads up fast

Cons:
Antenna, i wish the sprint phones didn't have antennas.
No flash on the camera

Thats really it, all in all it is a great phone and it is set at a fair price...

Sweet Phone!!!

This phone is a real nice one from sprint. The only thing I wish it had was a flash and a zoom on it. But that's ok, still a really awesome phone!!!

I love this phone

This phone is the best! Every body is talking about the new samsung phone that swirls. Let me tell you the sanyo is the best phone i ever had. The camera is great its not hard to use, its only 100 dollars, you can listen to voicemails while they are being recorded with the screen call option. If you are looking for a good camera phone sanyo 8100 is the one to get trust me.

The perfect camera phone at the right price.

This is a very nice phone. As compared to the 5100, the size makes it easier to use, and it is much lighter, which makes using it a breeze. The updated camera functions are awesome, incorperating ways to play with the picture to having the software to send to other vision phones built in. Not a bad combination. The signal is a bit lower than than the 5100, but it still serves its purpose for its price. The features of the phone work perfectly with the main feature, the camera. The animated ringtones are a nice addtion as well, adding a bit more customization per consumer into the mix, so nobody will have the same setup as you. The battery life is topnotch, and the phone doesnt have the problems the 5100 had with its cases. No wasted battery life. Its good stuff, buy it. If you dont need the camera, get a 4900 if you can find one, if not, keep it. Its better than the n200 by a LONGSHOT, and its slightly better than the 5100, which it should be, since its a newer phone. Enjoy!

Awesome Sanyo Phone !!

Sanyo 8100 is awesome!! This phone is my third Sanyo phone and it's much more improving than previous models. Awesome color main and sub display, clear ringer tone, enough receiver vlume, great signal strength, and easy to use, etc...

I admit that hard to see display in sunlight, but it's con's for the color display (NOT only this phone's problem).

It's much better and great if the camera had a flash and zoom, but I can't complain it because I knew and accepted this phone has no flash and zoom when I bought it... No flash and zoom, but picture resolution is still great. Just taking pictures and easy to send it anybody. I just love it.

Some user complain about signal strength for this phone, but I never see this problem in my area (San Diego, CA). I thinks the signal strength is defferent depends on the area. Many of my friends use Samsong phone here and they complain about the signal strength. We compared dfference about catching the signal between Samsong phone and Sanyo phone in the same place and Sanyo is much stronger for catching the signals than Samsong phone. I am happy!!

I really recommended this phone anybody!!

The Hotest Phone around SCP 8100

Sep 16, 2003 by Jackie Concepcion

This phone is by far the neatest technology today. I purchased this unit from ebay and I am totally satisfied with it. There is one down fall though, when using the camera, the battery dies fast. Other than that, I highly recommend this unit. Have fun and snap on.
