Very impresseed with the phone

Mar 19, 2004 by Backtothemac

I love the phone. I am totally sold on Samsung, as I also have an a530 and an i700. This is a durable phone, and the best thing is that it isn't small. Personally at 6'6, I don't want a phone 1/2 the size of my hand. If you are tall, or have big hands, this is a great phone for you.

Pros
Voice dial system is perfect
Size
Battery Life

Cons
Wish it did have an external display for caller ID.

This is the executive phone!

Feb 14, 2004 by fish

The Samsung-a610 is the executive phone to have.

I bought mine yesterday, got the extended battery for it a few hours ago.

It seems that phone companies continue the tradition of producing smaller phones, but this phone is brave enough to say, stop!

I love it, the size is a bit wider than the newer models, but it has such a firm grip and the non-slip surface was used wisely, thus giving it a sure grip.

I feel like an executive with this gadget, it has so many features.

One of the deciding factors for me is the amazing battery life on this phone, no other color flip has this beat.

Don't just get this phone to impress your friends, nah. Get it to feel important. You deserve it.

Samsung is a fantastic company and my first Samsung product was a flat panel monitor. I'm glad to see that Samsung is providing us with a product we can count on for such innovative technology.

I am impressed!

GREAT PHONE

Apr 19, 2004 by Figment

I love this phone! I have always been a fan of Samsung, but I will admit that I was hesitant at first with it being all digital. It works everywhere I need it to work.

The cons that people talk about are just there opinion, I don't see their issues as my issues. It is a new phone and may not be as small or compact as the other phones, but you get use to it.

I do have one thing, however, I don't like how it takes so long to flash between Verizon Wireless and the time. That part drives me crazy...

Great, but it's only digital

This phone has an excellent display, very clean sound when talking. Great tones. The camera works great. It's a very attractive case. Not to mention all features are very user friendly.

The only negative it's pure digital, which means the battery lasts longer at the cost of the phone working in analog area's.

If you live in a digital area and don't travel. This phone is probably the best on the market.

A-610 is a GO!

I have had my Samsung A-610 for a few
weeks now and I am very satisfied with
it. The cons pale in comparison to the
PROS. I didn't want to get in to making
an outline of them so I thought that I
mention them while I was giving a user
description of the phone.
There are few CONS but the biggest is
the fact that I used to have a CDM9500
Audiovox and it would drop a call as a
rare instance. I have dropped 3 calls
in the last few weeks with this phone
but that is still negligent. Bragging
on the Samsung A-310 is much easier
than finding fault with it. The phone is
a great performer and has no true rival
in the market yet. I send pictures to
people and they are impressed as well
as the EMS option that I can use to harass
friends with other EMS capable phones.
This phone is worth every red cent and
with Verizon service you get a 15-day
trial. Check it out!

It's Ok

I just bought the a610 last night. And the phone is so far so good. I've had some warnings from my friends at Verizon not to buy it because it's a horrible phone. But me being me I needed to at least test out the phone. Here are some reasons why I love the phone.

1. The camera can store up many photos unlike the VX6000 which can only hold up to 20...

2. The color is decent...the camera quality is superb...but the overall display color lacks the quality from the vx6000

Here are a few reasons why the phone is definitely not worth that money...

1. The polyphonic ring tones are only 16 chords...when the GSM is standardly a 40 chord ringtone...And even the ringtone is not even that loud compared to the vx6000

2. The swivel...it was an interesting idea...People would like it...but it sorta scares me that one it's going to just swivel off.

3. The size...the Samsung v200 was a perfect size for a camera phone and compared to my v200 this phone is a brick!...but then again my theory being the v200s a more feminen phone while the new a610 a masculine phone...phones are getting smaller and smaller but when a big guy is carrying around a small phone...it does not really goo with his looks...

Overall the phone is decent...definitely not a 5...and barely not good enough for a four...but for some people who are willing to pay the money for something different...check it out...you got a few days to try it out anyways...

My wait is for the Kyocera Slider...the phone is the best i've seen the only bad part...is the 65000 screen that really looks like a 4096...

Pros
Great sound quality, great display, key pad easy to use, comes with a desk top charger, all digital,

Cons
No front display

A610 IS UNIMPRESSIVE

Feb 11, 2004 by FAUguy

The swivel screen is kind of interesting, and feels like the hinge area is made
quite well and won't snap off.
That's about the end of the good stuff on this phone.
Now for the not so good parts:

1) Flash. It might as well not be there. I've tried the cam in dark rooms,
and a match would illuminate things better for picture.

2) Display. The one and only.
It gets real annoying always having to rotate and flip the
screen to face out-wards to use it for caller ID, then turn the screen back so you can
talk on the phone.
The 65K display isn't all that good to me. Indoors, it's OK, but outside or in the
car, and you can hardly see what you're dialing.

3) RF Reception. I've used it in areas that I've use several other phones,
and this one is the worse. Sometimes get "clipping" sounds or drop-calls.
The Strartac, VX4400, and VX6000 does a better job.

4) TFT transistor sound. Like on many new phones, the TFT display makes
a high-pitch sound that emanates from it all the time the display is on or active.
All you got to do is turn the phone on and place it up to your ear like you are making a
call. You hear the high-pitch sound very easily. Even when the display's back-light
turns off, you can still hear it.

5) Battery area. On the back of the phone, there is a sleeve that the retractable
antenna goes into. This is right where the battery fits into the phone.
After having to remove and install the battery a few times, the battery started to
bend the antenna sleeve. Only way to avoid this is not to
remove and install the battery if you don't need to.

6) Menus. Horrible. I go to Picture mode and select some settings, such as
flash, file quality, and I take a picture. Then go to take another picture and
all picture settings are not back to default. Why once you make a camera setting
change, it will not stay saved?
Also, menu speed when changing any phone setting is very slow. It has also
locked up a few times.

Unbelivable

I just got the phone today, the graphics are great, the ring tone quality is unreal, and the camera quality is just REAL, u have to get this phone i use to have the vx6000, that also was an unbelievable phone but u cant beat a swivel face, and a great VGA camera that also swivels with flash... neways try and get it!

Sturdy and reliable

I have had this phone for over 2 years now. I have never had any problems with it. I have dropped is 5 or 6 times (even on asphalt and concrete!) with no problems. Initially, the swivel feature was 'neat' but that wore thin after a while and I started wishing that it had a display on the other side, but that's really not a big deal. Reception was always great...it was usually the person on the other line with the bad phone.
