Sanyo 5300

Nov 18, 2002 by Tom Baker

I've had my Sanyo 5300 for a week and I'm amazed with it. However one major problem is the receiver VOLUME. If you have this phone and having problems with the volume call Sanyo 1-818-998-7322 ext 433 exsplain that you have read reveiws of other usses having problems. Also do the same thing with Sprint. I called Sanyo today and they said if Sprint complains to them Sanyo would determine if it's a software or mechanical problem and possible fix it.
Can't believe Sanyo messed up on this. Don't expect to here very good when in the car, at the bar or any loud place. A Sprint store manager said when they get some more in and that I can swap it out and try another. But after finding out about this site and reading other users having the same problem I probally will just return it and go back to my crapy Samsung N-200 and wait untill next batch of 3G phones come out. Or Sanyo can fix the problem and I will keep it. Some people probally can live with it but I don't think I can. Even with all the cool features it has. I have to be able to here well.

Cool Phone

I have only been using the sanyo 5300 for a day, so time will tell, but so far it does everything it is supposed to do. The quality of the pictures is probably my biggest complaint. The pictures are good but could be sharper. My only other negative is the text and color bars behind the main picture look a little tacky. Overall a very cool phone with lots of goodies.

Ahh finally here...

Well haven't got the phone yet, but being a Sprint Employee I've been able to see how the phone works and play around with it a little.

First off, the color screens are awesome. Great brilliance, and the beginning menu is slick. The camera is really sharp too, much better than the one you can purchase for the Samsung models. I was hoping for a 40 chord polyphonic ringer, but oh well...

The thing that impressed me most was the web browser. Very very fast compared to our other 3G phones. The only other phone that is about the same speed is the A500.

Gripes : The volume is a bit of a problem, but sanyo has always had that problem with their flip series phones, not something that will make this phone totally unbuyable.
Same boring menu, the menu screens after the first one are the same ol Sanyo menus, which are not bad but compared to the startup one on this phone and the 4900 something alot cooler could of been done.
Price, woo this phone really will tear a chunk outta your pocketbook. I suggest unless you can't live without the camera, wait around for the Samsung I330 because you get a PDA for a 100 bucks more and you can always send photos from your computer to any vision phone with this site:

Overall, a good phone but really IMO not worth the price. Wait til it drops about a hundred bucks, or get a PDA/Smartphone.

Sanyo 5300 nice phone

Nov 13, 2002 by Wayne Posner

Got the phone last night and immediately began playing around with it. Nice quality phone. Good construction like the 5150. Call quality seems to be up to par.

My gripes: Ear piece volume does need to be louder. The volume buttons are located in an extremely awkward place. Also, the color screen on the cover tends to be hard to read.l Maybe it's just the way my phone is configured at the moment--not sure, but out of the box, it's hard to read.

Cool Phone and it has good features. However, it lacks the same feel as the Sanyo 5150.
5300 closes better than any other phone on the market besides its older brother (5150).

Two months ago I would have given this phone 5 stars, but now I have to mark the score down because of its size.

Its a new day for cell phones. Smaller is better.

I Love this phone but I have a few gripes. 1) no speaker phone) The INTERNET reception is not so good. The most unfortunate thing is that Sprint Pcs is the carrier. I think Sprint Pcs is absolutely the worst company in the world.

I had the Sanyo 5300 for 5 days and took it back because the receiver audio is to low to hear when turned up all the way. But every other feature on it is great. It takes great pictures ect.

TIME HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!!

Nov 15, 2002 by John Dyer

A lot of people have been waiting for this phone and it is finally here. The camera is totally awesome, it's like having a web cam from your computer to your phone. I am sure to have fun with it. It also has different resolutions-low, med, high so you have a choice if you want better clarity. It holds many more pictures then the A500 and the best part is it's all one piece not two. Anyone who has had the Sanyo 5150 will be accustomed to the phone since they are both identical except for the brilliant colored screen on the 5300. Every Sanyo flip phone has had a low ear volume. So, Sanyo flip buyers know what they are getting into as well with the 5300. The price is up there but it's worth it.

My Initial Review Of the Sanyo 5300

Nov 12, 2002 by rjmoose

I have been playing around with the Sanyo 5300 for the past couple of hours
and so far, it is a very impressive phone. The color on the screen and
external LCD are very sharp, the camera takes very good quality pictures
considering it's built into a phone, and everything else is basically the
same as previous Sanyo phones. My only gripe is the earpiece volume is not
very loud at all. Either:

A. I am old and I need a hearing aid.

B. The phone is either defective or has bug in it.

OR

C. Sanyo phones do not have a very loud earpiece volume.

It's kind of a bummer, because I REALLY like the phone and the built in
camera concept. I am looking forward to hearing other people's opinions of
this phone and the earpiece volume.
