Not as great as it seems

Aug 31, 2010 by Karenesm

small and light
clear screen
great phone
user friendly

after 3-4 months of use, the phone's battery life cut in half.
the fact that you have to switch between QWERTY keys and symbols is really annoying.
I can't text as fast or as accurate. the keys are flat and smooth, which makes it difficult to text. I quite often miss letters and have to scroll back to correct it.
the flip from key board to regular phone was great at first - now it's just really annoying
the balance of the phone is off. it's heavier on one side.
I have dropped this phone more often than any other phone I have had.
Doesn't have a "ring and vibrate" volume option - but then again, my last phone didn't either.

I will be getting rid of this phone as quick as I possibly can. I thought I would just get used to it, but I never did.

Best phone I've had so far!

Aug 1, 2009 by 20momof3

I just got this phone yesterday, and I'm totally in love with it!

Pros :
Dual Flip is nice for me because I prefer a flip phone, but can't stand T9 texting.

Excellent Signal strength for me in the Spokane WA region.

Very easy to use (I'm a huge Samsung fan, so I was already familiar with the overall layout of menus etc.)

Cons :
I can't think of anything at this point. So far I've not found any negatives with the phone.

I know there's a TON more to list about this phone, but I'm very happy. I switched from the Glyde, and now that I have the Alias 2, I wouldn't go back!

Does NOT work with Ford Sync

May 31, 2009 by Retired_MSGT

There is a new software version that is suppose to work with the Ford Sync but I cannot get Samsung or Verizon to get me that software. I will be returning this phone.

Samsung, Verizon and Ford need to get their act together. Why advertise a feature that is not supported. In addition, Verizon needs to make sure that their sales reps know exactly what features are supported and what is not. Being lied to by several different reps before getting this phone is very annoying. The main feature I wanted is NOT supported. But all the reps I talked to before getting this phone said it was supported. I would recommend that before anyone gets this phone, they find someone who has it to make sure all the features they want are supported. Sales reps and some tech support people at both Verizon and Samsung do not know what is supported. And Just an FYI, my wife has an ENV2 and it works just fine with the Sync.

Great phone

May 16, 2009 by jskrenes

This is the first non-PDA device I've used in a year, and so far I am impressed. For the most part it's a pretty straightforward messaging phone. The design is largely uninspired (the u740 took its design cues from the RAZR, the u750 looks like it took its design cues from the a610--remember that one?), at least as far as the outside goes. But flip it open and it literally shows its stuff.

The E-ink feature is really slick: the buttons remap themselves depending on whether you're in portrait or landscape mode and whether you want numbers or texting keys. And it just works. The buttons feel a little slick, but not terribly slippery, and though it's a bit larger and heavier than the original Alias, the larger button layout it allows makes for much easier texting. Cnet's review says that VCAST is a little pxely, but works OK, and I'd have to agree.

Easy to use
E-ink works well
Good call quality and good all-around messaging phone
Hinge feels sturdy

A bit bigger and the design could be more modern-looking
No lip to flip it open in texting mode
