It's OK

Dec 20, 2002 by rexyblue

I don't think the battery life is all that great for starters and, I do not like the polyphonic ringers at all. LG phones have a menu system and user interface logic that is almost bizarre. I have to constantly refer to the manual (which also needs help) to navigate them, and I'm pretty gadget-savvy. The phone does get warm on a long call, such as a recent 50 minute one I made, but not uncomfortably so. The reception is very good. The display is clear. The earpiece sound is loud--something lacking in many wireless phones these days--and clear, but not as rich and full as some others, the Motorola V60i for example. The form factor and size are excellent. It's an "OKAY" cellphone. Not horrible, but nothing particularly outstanding either.

I love this phone!

This is an EXCELLENT phone, I can't recommend it enough. The calls sound nice and clear and it is very easy to use. The phone book takes a little getting used to not as user friendly as Kyocera 2235 but it is OK when you get used to it. The ringers sound a little low but the ones that you download are nice and loud. Battery life is also good, LG outdid themselves with the VX10

Great basic phone for first time mobile phone users

Oct 10, 2014 by clutchxpfirefox

Back in the early 2000s, when I had Verizon Wireless, I used to have this phone. It was my very first cell phone. During the time I had it, it suited my needs pretty. It was a quick messaging phone. Listed below are the pros and cons I noticed when I had this phone.

PROS:

- flip phone
- loud ringtones
- good call quality
- physical buttons
- external caller ID
- good reception

CONS:

- no wi-fi
- no camera
- not a world phone

I gave the camera a rating of useless because there is no camera on this phone. I recommend this phone to anyone looking for a basic phone.

No, I wouldnt

This phone was a little bit better then the 3100 I owned. This was the phone I owned before the 3100 and OWNED again after awhile. While the battery was suckish in this phone, the phone never dropped calls like the 3100 ALWAYS did. I wouldn't consider this. I would get the LG accolade

breaks often

Jul 11, 2006 by midnightmarvin05

I have had 3 of these phones. Worked each worked fine at first but then...
The software started doing weird thing, so i had to reset the phone about once per week. This was not the end of the world but after this starts happening either
1) The LCD display broke (I never dropped any of the phones)
2) The phone would not turn on
3) The plastic started coming apart so the wiring started going bad, it would turn off at random times and audio quality started going down hill.

All have broken within 6 months of getting it. I am not generally picky about phones, but this one was not sturdy or reliable at all.

Horrible phone

I realize this is a pointless review, but what the heck. We changed our contract with Verizon a little over two years ago, and got a pair of VX10 phones based on the theory they were like VX1 phones. At the time, I worked in a Verizon dead zone(270 and Bellfontaine rd in St. Louis County), and my boss's VX1 only had one signal bar, but it never dropped calls. The phone I had at the time, an Audiovox of some sort, wasn't reliable here. Anyway, I got the VX10, and it didn't work any better than the Audiovox, not only that, a row of pixels on the outer display didn't work, making it hard to read. My boss later got a VX10 because he destroyed his VX1, and his didn't get good reception, either. After getting the new phones, all hell broke loose. Not only did it take several phone calls to Verizon before someone actually sent me a replacement, instead of just saying they would, the replacement was a defective refurbish/return. The ringer wasn't reliable, and eventually, totally died. Verizon also screwed up our billing, and I had to figure out what they did wrong when they changed plans, because they couldn't. Got it fixed, but it took two billing cycles, and several phone calls to get it fixed, and get our money refunded that they overcharged us. When the 2nd phone died on me, I was too frustrated to go through more BS, and got a Samsung a310, which was better, but I have issues with that phone, as well. Also, my brother's VX10's outer screen died after about a year.
We have a pair of Motorola V276's due later today, so I'm hoping for the best.

Good phone

As ladodger34 states (way back on July 4, 2004), "the service carriers don't sell this phone anymore..." I feel the same way, though, and want to give my $0.02.

My first phone was a Qualcomm/Kyocera 2035a brick phone, which I found horrible - no signal, battery eventually turned to mush and I couldn't make one call without it dying.

Then we renewed with Verizon (they still have the best coverage in this area, so...), and I picked up the VX-10 with the "deal." One of the guys with whom I worked had this phone, and I felt I found my next phone.

Battery life was horrible within four months; I recharged per recommendations (or so I thought), and it got to the point that I couldn't make a call without the phone dying (like the 2035a). Verizon didn't fight too much when my wife told them to give us a new battery.

Since the battery change, I have found the phone to be pretty good. It doesn't have the bells and whistles (or any games for the "down times"), but it *is* a good all-around phone. I'll admit coverage still has its blanks, but it is better than the 2035a which was really poor.

The address book is strange, and there seems to be only one number per name (no hierarchy), so you have to enter a name multiple times to cover multiple numbers. I can live with this.

The ringer seems low, even at higher volumes, and my wife complains that I don't answer her calls (no, not selective hearing in this case). But I catch most of them.

Signal is usually at least two bars, and often full up. The phone does have issues with stone-type buildings (brick/concrete block), but I hear that is common.

One complaint I have is that the outside display has had blank lines running through it for the better part of the last year, making reading the display very difficult. And it's getting worse. Oh, and the holster is difficult to use.

Other than that, this is a sound phone. It's only my second phone, so I'm still new to this, but if I keep getting better phones, life will be good.

Good phone - I'm happy with it

I've had my VX-10 with Verizon for about two years and have had absolutely no problems with it. Call quality has been excellent and I rarely drop calls. This has been one dependable phone. My wife and I got ours at the same time and we're both pleased. However, by today's standards it does seem a little behind the times. There's no color screen, no pictures, no wallpaper, no speaker phone, and the ring tones are kind of lame. However, I guess there's get-it-now if you're interested in more ring tones. The phone is small, light weight and works great. My wife complains about the battery life but I think that's because she never turns it off. I use my phone a lot and charge it two to three times a week. Time between charges has been more than acceptable. Although I'm not crazy about the desk top charger. The outside menu can easily be read anytime and menu navigation is simple once you get used to it. You can probably file this under who cares now, but for it's worth LG makes great phones IMHO.

Chronically Broke

This phone worked well for me early on. However, after a few months the battery life became terrible and I started experiencing many dropped calls. Verizon told me to update the software in the phone to fix this. WRONG. After tons of arguing with Verizon I got a different phone of the same model. This phone worked well for several months until a short time ago when the same symptoms started to appear. Verizon again says to upgrade the system software. STILL WRONG. I am convinced the phone is defective. However, I am now out of the warranty period. I won't be getting another VX-10 and probably not another LG phone. Geez, I wish Ma Bell was still in business. They were expensive, but at least it WORKED

WEAK-ling

Mar 27, 2004 by lexarenee

I owned this phone for approximately 10 months before I started having problems. There were several dropped calls, which may or may not be the phone (Verizon forgot "can you hear me now" in Iowa) The clarity was good. It was very small. My biggest complaint was the durability of the case. This phone cracked at the "flip" in approximately 6 months. From then on out it went down hill and finally ended up catching on itself and falling apart in the middle. I think that if LG figured out a more durable phone construction, they would have a far better product. They just need to think about the fact that Flip phones need stronger plastic than a non-flip phone. If you're super gentle with your phone. It's a great phone. If you USE your phone more than once a day and are carrying it around with you, this isn't the phone for you.
