LG Shine Not worth money

Jun 12, 2008 by pattydangel

I purchased a LG Shine CU720. It is not worth the money I paid for it. It is a pretty phone but, I cannot hear the phone ring. I have missed so many calls. I sent the first one back and got another and still it is the same. I am not happy with it at all. I am trying to get a new one but, it is very difficult to do. I have insurance but, so the AT&T tells me I have to call my insurance because it is an insurance claim. I call my insurance and they tell me it is a warranty claim. So, now I'm stuck with a phone that I don't use half the time because I can't hear it ring.

i have never owned an lg phone before due to some complaints i had heard from friends, and i was hesitant to upgrade to it , but since i loved the design and phone i went for it, and now i love it, i love the camera the multi function button where you can multi task. and i actually text alot and talk alot on my lg shine and i charge it every 3 days like i would with my old razr!!!

Very stylish and sleek slider.

For starters LG hit home with design. With a nice sleek shiny metal design, it definitely won't disappoint in the design department. This phone supports AT&T's 3G Data, so Cellular Video and all of the standard features are there.

The keypad is very similar to that found on the Moto RAZR, which isnt a bad thing. Call quality was average for the most part. The user interface was pretty simple, which made it pretty user friendly but I felt there was a lot more that could be done with it. I didnt like the little joystick(if you will) at the top of the keypad. It made things a little cumbersome, and playing games with it was awkward. It was also pretty unresponsive.

Battery life was kind of poor in my opinion, since I'm a very heavy user, this was a big con for me. The camera is 2mp, and stills look great on it. It also has flash, but ultimately wasnt very flashy if you will. Has a micro SD slot for up to 4GB. Music and video player were pretty average as well.

So the design is very nice, there are two other Shine phones, one is a slider without the joystick, and the other a bar style phone.

If your looking for a simple phone with a good camera and great design that rivals even samsung phones, you may want to give this one a look.

LG Shine

Fairly nice phone... but

PROS:
Feels like it is solid.
Easy to open
Good reception
Menus can be operated by # keys
Nice camera

CONS:
Lots of finger prints (if you care)
Joy stick is difficult for big fingers
BIGGY... sounded like people calling were in a can or small room.

I returned it after a week because while I could hear people were talking, but I couldn't make out what they were saying. Unacceptable. I'd keep the phone if I could make out the words people say. Maybe another one will be better...

LG Shine is a Super-dooper Phone!

Feb 8, 2008 by DTB2008

The LG Shine is a great phone no doubt but there are a few things that one might find unsatisfactory about the Shine. Let me start with the things I am annoyed by with the phone and then we can review the things that make this phone Super-Dooper!

*CONS*

#1- The phone is hard to type on but after about a day or two of texting on it, you will get use to it. Also the joystick takes some getting use to but once you get use to navigating it, it's really nifty!

#2- If you are one of those people who likes locking your messages on your phone (application lock) so that you have to enter a password to be able to read them...SORRY! this phone DOES NOT have that feature on it!

#3- Yes, The phone is a little bit...(just a LITTLE bit) bulky & heavy but it still looks VERY expensive & beautiful!

#4- This device DOES NOT allow you to set ringtones as message alerts so you will have 10 standard message alert tones to pick from. One of those is really cute thou, it says ..."One New Message."

#5- The menu structure really isn't the "souped-up" like Sony Ericssons menus, but if you go under settings and change it from icon view to LIST VIEW, it is MUCH prettier!!!

#6- No themes- :(

Ok...now for the GOOD things about the phone-

*PROS*
#1- THE SCREEN IS REALLY BIG! :)

#2- The volume while you are talking on the phone is really great.

#3- There are 3 different skins on the device to choose from - black, white, or pink! (Maybe able to download more, not sure)

#4- The internet is FAST -

#5- ITS JUST ABSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL!!! (Well I own the red one and its pretty- not sure about the silver one- have not seen it!

#6- The Camera and Camcorder is AWESOME! Picture Quality is VERY clear and THIS IS ONE OF THE ONLY PHONES WITH A FLASH!!! Looking at the phone from the back, it looks just exactly like a camera!!!!

I would recommend this phone to anyone! Its very stylish and absolutly stunning! 4 Starz to the LG Shine!!!

LG is Shining

pros- 2Mp camera
- XM radio (requires a lot of data)
- fast internet
- nice silver metallic finish(may want a case for the phone cause it will pick up finger prints)
- takes good videos
- you can multitask meaning you can talk and surf at the same time.

Cons - when you unlock the keypad without opening it, the keypad will lock within a few seconds, but other than that nothing major.
Its a great phone.

Louder Ringtone

Put your phone in outdoor mode and it will increase the volume of the ringtone; however, it will also increase the volume of everything else too!!! lol

One of the Top Phones in the Store(12/1/07)

The Look:
The LG shine is a very attractive phones for all my customers whether they are kids or grown adults. The metallic silver look is very awesome and has a little bit of a verizon phone look to it. There are some talk about that the display is very hard to read out in the sun, that statement is false, I have no problems what so ever. Slider phones are a definate ++ too.

The Features and reception:
The LG shine is getting very popular for its 2.0 mega pixel camera. Not because of the pixels, but because u can work it just like a digital camera or camcorder and even looks like one when active. It has flash and also the flash can be left on the whole time your recording or taking a picture which is unique compared to other phones. It has the basics, mp3 player, music ID, sms, mms. The reception is great on it and LG has fixed its MMS sending problems it previously had with other phones in border line 3G areas.

The Bad:
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO LEAVE THE PLASTIC COVER ON THE PHONE WHEN PURCHASING! The phone does get many finger prints rather easy and the plastic will prevent the display from getting dirty. Texting needs some getting used to as the buttons are smaller than most phones and are close together, but nothing u cant get used to in a couple days. Some people may mind that its a little heavy.

Overall:
It is one of our best phones to date (12/1/07) and the only other phones to choose from(besides data devices) would be the Sony Erriccson W580i or the Motorola Razr2 V9.

AT&T LG Shine Cu720

I have this phone for about two weeks now and have been very please with it. I have read a lot of reviews before buying this phone; so I knew exactly what I was getting.

Pro:

1. It's a beautiful phone.

2. I like sliders because it's easier to open and generally better looking. All sliders have little buttons and not the best text msg. 10 speed dials is enough for me.

3. Battery life: I had a Samsung D600 before this one. I didn't charge my phone for more than 3 days. I made a few phone calls, took a few shots and play with it's features. It last longer than the Samsung I had for sure.

4. It's solid and feels expensive. Someone complainted that it's heavy; well, it's not cheap plastic. You can't have both, lol.

5. Great camera with a flash. As far as I know this is the only AT&T phone with a flash and 2 Meg.

Con:

1. It's AT&T, my biggest problem after signing up and getting this phone.

2. I wish the phone is a little smaller
3. That little scroll button is annoying, wish they use 4 arrows and a center button instead.

Conclusion:

If you are looking for a great looking phone with a great camera, and you don't make text much, this is the best phone AT&T offers. I have consider SE W580 but it doesn't have a flash.
I had a AT&T account that was not under contract and got this from Amazon for $50. Then I found out that AT&T would not transfer my old number to the new account because I was holding two accounts. They gave me a dozen reasons why I should not get an account from Amazon or any third parties. AT&T had this phone for $150; I would pay $150 for this phone if I was getting a new account. It's a very good phone but not $150 better than some free phones they offered.

Nice Looking But Dosn't Sound Great

Nov 26, 2007 by BMWobsession

I purchased this phone at an AT&T store over the weekend for 49.99 after the $50.00 rebate. An awesome price id have to say for such a nice looking phone. The camera is very nice, the flash is a nice touch too as its hard to find on at&t phones at the moment. The steel finish is impressive but the biggest issue i have with the phone is that it has horrible sound. You can barely hear it ring on the loudest volume. Playing music through the phone is not really possible unless the rooms silent. The other downfall is the battery. Lasts not even a day for me.
