Well Put Together but Have a Few Issues

Aug 27, 2008 by wootham

The K850i is a nice phone. The camera is defintely what you would expect. The slideshow options and other features for the camera are above and beyond considering this is also a phone. The picture quality is great. The battery life on the other hand could be better(at least in my opinion). Sony claims the battery life on this phone is 9 hrs talk time. That being said you should be able to get two days of light usage(talk and text only) easily. But I have found(with Push, internet, bluetooth and all extras off along with not using camera or music/media player at all) it to last from morning(about 8 A.M.) to evening(about midnight) at which point I will have about 10 percent battery power left. I use the phone in the U.S. on T-mobile's network using EDGE. Another note on the battery is that it is Lithim Polymer, not Lithium Ion which means when it is plugged into the charger and it reaches a full charge charging will stop and the battery will begin to decrease. You have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it charging again. This, of course is not a big deal but when you look at your batt power in the morning you will notice it to be at about 98 percent. I absolutely do not like the fact that Sony provides no way to lock the phone other than on power up. even with the power-up lock on if someone grabs your phone they can get at everything if it is on when they grab it. The OS is very nice. Not bad speed-wise and the menu interface is nice as well. It is worth noting that the phone has position sensoring for games and looking at pictures and what not. Push mail works well but I have it turned off to get the most out of the battery. I do like the phone but would rather have purchased Sony Ericsson's smartphone. Whenever I open the battery compartment the phone shuts off. Could just be mine though.

Short Battery Life

PROS: Completely Awesome phone. Functions perfectly in all aspects.

CONS: This has been advertised as the flagship phone for Sony & this phone has a 3.5 hour battery life....what happened?
The W810i & the 580i have a solid 8 hr battery life which can continue for up to 9 hrs. Sony NEEDS to put out a 8hr battery for this on and then it "will be" perfect!
