Solid device

Dec 13, 2007 by chia

The Muziq is essentially a Fusic with a higher memory card capacity, internal antenna, and in an ultraslim form factor. The Fusic is an excellent device with a solid feature set, but was a tad on the bulky and heavy side. The Muziq addresses that shortcoming nicely, which results in a very good mid-range phone.

Pros: Has the Fusic's superb feature set.
One of the smaller, faster, lighter EV-DO devices.
Very compact, thin, and light.
Good UI design and performance.
Keypad is actually quite solid and responsive, especially for an ultraslim.

Cons: Tends to pick up fingerprints easily on the exterior and main display.
Mediocre onboard memory.
Flip action is a bit stiffer than most other phones.

It could have been great but only good....

I had a Katana Dluxe that I traded back for the Muziq. Couple years ago I had the Fusic. I had the fusic for about two weeks and it went back. I really liked the phone but just couldn't put up with the quirks. I was excited to get my hands on the updated version to see if they had improved it. So here's a few of my opinions....

Pro's
*Looks good (but the speculative....LOL)
*Size is just right - fits good in my pants pocket
*I really like the keypad (The numbers are straight accross instead of curved like many phones) because the buttons are big.
*Can hold 99 speed dails (is this standard on most phones?)
*4GB MicroSD card slot
*The FM transmitter actually works this time although 10 foot is a fluke. have mine 6 inches or less from my antanae on my Tivoli (using this feature with the phone opened greatlly enhances the feature). I'm using the feature as I type. Useless in a car unless someone can stand outside and hold it right up to the antanae....LOL
*Took some pics from the sideline of a football game at night time that turned out actually pretty good.
*You can set the selection disk to quick access of menus. i can get to the alarm clock with one click! Tremendous because every other phone I've ever had took about 6 clicks.

Con's
*Text messaging is made difficult when sing T9. When you type 'good' but want 'home' you have to scroll down to select the word and then have to hit the 'ok' button. Mot other phones you woul just have to scroll down to the selected word and then hit the 'space' button. LG's method adds an extra 'click'. Annoying.
*How the Muziq handles unsent text messages is so pathetic it's probably worth a few cuss words and the trip back to find another phone. Some one was smoking something when they decided to handle this this way. here's how it works. If the phone can't send a text message it migrates back to the main screen where you migrate to the 'outbox' to try and send it again.

Not bad

I have to admit that I was skeptical about purchasing this phone. I had the former version the lg fusic and was looking forward to a slimmer better designed phone. I had a samsung a900 prior to the fusic and loved the slim design, but the phone had many issues. Sprint gave me the lg fusic as a replacement. I was just never happy with the screen and the white casing. It had some interesting features like the fm transmitter, but it didn't work right at all. In any case, I choose the lg muziq over the sanyo DLX its close rival and am glad I did. The screen is larger and much more detailed than the fusic. I really like the email push feature. Getting my work emails to me all on one device such as this is a true convience and takes away using multiple devices. The battery life has been good. The fm transmitter I have to admit works well considering its such a small device. I really like the shell of this phone. The black smooth sophisticated look of it is sweet. It does show finger prints big time so just keep that in mind. I can't say that I enjoy having the power port on the side. Just more combersome to plug on and off. The volume controls on the upper hinge piece next to the screen seemed an odd choice, but I'm getting used to it. The bluetooth works fine, but really wished and find it hard to believe they went with version 1.1 for such an advanced phone. One other obsticle I have incountered is the use of the Dpad. I keep missing the ok button and hit below it. If it was raised up just a hair more it would prevent some undesired movements. In any case, I like this phone more and more.

Terrible

Being the "newer" version of the Fusic, I thought this phone would be just as amazing as the Fusic, which was my favorite sprint phone on the market.
I was sorely disappointed with this follow-up. There is a good reason this phone had little time on the market.

PROS:
-Great music store access & good sound
-Ok internet
-Ok camera

CONS:
-Terrible front control for music store [it hardly ever worked-being operated by touch]
-Terrible battery life
-Flat keyboard with no definition
-Frequently shut off

For me, what ruined it for me was the fact that the flip phone snapped at the hinge. Normally, this would just be something I would blame myself for, but my friend [who had the same phone] had the same exact fracture in the same spot with the same shape. I really doubt that this was a coincidence.
Terrible phone.

Ugh...

I have the worst luck with cell phones, and after going through numerous RAZR2's, I decided to purchase this one. Although the phone is for the most part durable, it has some problems. Here are some problems I've experienced with my UX565:

1. Text messaging sometimes just goes out and will not let you type anything at all for no reason. You have to turn the phone off and back on to get it back.

2. Terrible reception. Even in some of the places where most phones get good reception.

3. One night (strangely enough the same night my car battery died in twenty below weather), the phone just completely stopped working. Battery was full, and everything. No explanation. After a day or so it started working fine. That wasn't a good night, by the way because I was stuck at work in my freezing car.

4. A few times, the phone started going wacky and programming its own contacts with nonsense names and numbers...

--In general the phone works decently, but is very glitchy. If you are looking for something basic that you can just call/text on, stay away from this one.

Great Phone!

I've had my phone for about 4 months, and before the Muziq, I had the Fuziq. There's not much upgrade except style and some side buttons.
This phone is GREAT for music and I think some people expect the FM transmitter to work from 10 feet away, that's not going to happen! If you're in the car, you may have to find a hot spot for clear reception, if it's a radio, your phone will need to be placed no more than 3 feet away. But this is great feature to listen to your music without any cords or plug ins.
PROS: FM Transmitter
Music Player
Great camera and recording for low mega pixels
Voice Dial (without pre-recording)
Keypad is easy to use (big finger accessible)
All around great looking phone with great features (mine is pink)

Cons: I think the battery life is awful. Mine needs charged every day to day and a half
I miss the side key to voice dial on the old fusiq. The muzic, you have to go to a couple menus or set it in Fav's

LG Muziq

I have had the Muziq for about 3 months now. I love the Music transmitter it works great on just about any radio. But the speaker phone is terrible, I still have to hold it to my head to hear it while on a call. The speaker is fine if your playing music. The phone just randomly powers off even with a full battery. The phone will display full signal but when I go to make a phone call sometimes it will so no service available. Or, at times I will try to make a call and it will say Data Call in progress. I have not dropped my phone ever, and always keep a plastic cover on it and the flip on the inside is cracking. I am thinking I just got a bad phone because my sister has the same phone and is in love with hers. Lucky me...

very good

Recently got the Musiq and I don't understand some of the negative comments here. I think it's a great little phone. It is packed with features and does all of them really well. I am starting to really hate all the phones that attract all the fingerprints and the Musiq is no exception, but other than that, its great. Very good customization (probably the best Ive seen) and the screens and keypad are very good. Most importantly for me, it's a great PHONE..very reliable and clear.

Not a BAD phone, but not my favorite.

Service provider: Alltel

Reason for this phone: I used to own the AX8600, but I inadvertently submerged it in water. This is the replacement phone the insurance company provided.

Pros:
· In good lighting, the camera takes very good quality pictures.
· The ring tones are not ear-blowingly loud, but loud enough.
· Vibrate is intense enough to be felt while still quiet enough not to hear.
· The battery life is long and charging is quick.

Cons:
· The FM transmitter seems to be quite weak.
· The camera is less than optimal in low or artificial light conditions.
· On "Silence All" texts still vibrate.
· T9's 'memory' has not worked well on either of the three phones I've had--and there's no setting to turn it on and off.
· External touch buttons are so close together I often turn the alarm off when I'm trying to snooze. (bad for obvious reasons.)
· Signal strength is good, but not as good as my AX8600 or RAZR.

Overall: The phone is not my favorite. The first one I had was replaced because Alltel could not figure out why the T9 memory would not work. There is not an option in the phone to turn it on and off and it randomly stopped working. This same thing happened to my second phone so I decided to live with it. The second phone's internal screen cracked randomly in my pocket one day. I had the phone for one week and NEVER dropped it. In general, the phone feels cheap compared to my AX8600 or RAZR. If I had the option I would NOT buy the phone. However, it's not so terrible that I need to go buy a new one altogether.

Not Impressed

Aug 5, 2008 by Jewelynn24

I am not at all impressed with this phone. I have only had it for 3 months and I am going on my third phone. The sprint customer service told me that they have been having a lot of issues with this phone. Each of the 3 muziq phones I have had have all done the same things. It will say that I have no service and am roaming but my 3 sisers and mother who have sprint will be sitting next to me and have a full signal. Just go for any phone but this one, you will not be impressed... trust me!
