Sanyo Sanyo Sanyo

Ok Sanyo, when are you going to get it right? I love your reception and UI but you have to stop going backwards.

Pros
Reception is awesome
loudness A++
Menu features very nice
Nice click when opened and closed
External memory very nice

Cons
Flip design, horrible
Small internal screen, way to small
keypad horrible keys to small and to hard to push.
Camera has no flash... Grrrr
Texting setup is horrible, no next button to go to next word in T9.... makes it a pain to text!

All in all its a ok phone, but I think Sanyo and LG need to get together to come up with a Great Mp3 player phone!!

Awsome!!!! phone

i just got this phone about 1 week ago (switching from a razr v3) and i am very pleased with it. I am going to compare it with the razr since most people have used one.

Form factor/body:
Great yet reminiscent of the razr but the katana is much sturdier and feels less "cheap" than the razr, also it it doesn't chip any where near as much as the razr

Screen/keypad:
though the screen is a little small on the katana it beats the razr and most other phones in resolution it very bright and clear easy to read. The keypad is a little close together but is separate keys do it is easy to dial on. Unlike the razrs "one large key"

Internal/features:
The user-face of the katana is more interesting and a lot more fun than the razr i had (cingular) it is more customizable. Also when i bought mine i got a free micro sd card which you can use.

Fun Stuff:
the katana is so much more fun than the razr v3. first off the camera options are better you can change your pic. it to black and white and colors. Also it is a music phone!! you can buy it from the sprint music store right on your phone!! Though the games are not good because they are only demos as usual.

Battery life/Performance:
the battery life on the katana was actually better than the razr. the fist day i got the razr i charged it and it died in less than 8 hours!! the katana is doing better with a 3-4 day life. Also the calls on the katana are better you can actually hear the person you are talking to. unlike the razr!

Bottom line if you want a phone to beat out your old razr or any other phone this is a great choice from sprint!!

Good Phone... I guess.

I was given this phone as an insurance replacement for my Blade. I love the phone itself, it's fast and the battery lasts a good time, but here are some things that i can't stand about it.

PROS

Slim
Fast interface
Sanyo's hinge is always a good thing
It's loud and the reception is excellent.

CONS

Volume buttons on top half of phone
No voice to text for text messaging
The rubber covers for the charge port, headphone jack, and data card are... let's just say after using the phone, the covers stretch and do not fit the phone properly anymore, pop out of place, and don't stay intact.

SANYO KATANA DLX AWESOME

Lets talk about all the good things first -
I am coming up from a used and abused Samsung A920. I needed a phone that had all the same features as my 920. MP3, Blue tooth, Power Vision, etc and so on. Basically I had two choices the DLX and the LG musiq - dont own LG's so I had only really once choice.

Battery life - I am a avid texter, web user, and email checker. I used my DLX for 2 days without a charge before its battery was totally dead. Not to mention, the phone was never turned off at night.

Vision Speed - Much, much faster than my 920. Downloads, page change.... No complaints.

Sanyo has its texting software next to no ones. In my opinion its the way all phones should be set.

Size - great - Screen could be bigger but its crystal clear. Best I have ever had.

SOund quality is much better than the 920.

Signal strength it awesome.

Menus are easy to navigate through. Finally app's can be minimized. ex. MP3 player can be put into the backround while a call or a text comes through.

Hinge is obviously amazing its sanyo's trade mark.

Over all design it plain but it gets the job done.

Cons -

NOT MANY

Screen could be bigger
Single Speaker on the BACK of the phone.
No flash
Charger port is in a odd spot. But I guess if its charges it then it dont matter really.
Front display could be bigger. the only phone on the market with a giant front display is the new RAZOR and again its a razor so who cares.

All in all this phones works well, sounds good, and looks great. at 79 bucks after rebates you cant beat it. It has Sanyo's quality. Which we all know is wonderful. To all the original Katana owners, I highly recomend upgrading. Its worth it.
