Available Thru POCKET

Mar 12, 2008 by motoguy75

I'm not a major texting guy, (only about 200 messages a month) so a full qwerty keyboard is not a must. But I do like how this phone was put together.

PROS:
-qwerty keyboard
-better camera than strobe had
-loud speakers
-flashlight (helps a lil when fumbling in the dark)
-bluetooth paired easily
-back cover is actually secure

CONS:
-a little thick for my taste
-inner screen too small to actually do much browsing
-keypads are both a lil on small side

Best Phone Ever

Mar 10, 2008 by bmt24

PROS:
QWERTY keyboard
bluetooth- good for sending sounds for ringtones, and pictures
voice and digit dialing
megapixel camera
good battery life
not a very big phone
small enough for a texting keyboard

CONS:
keys are small
bluetooth causes short battery life
cant turn on vibrate when phone is charging

Overall i really like this phone alot. It fits all of my needs. Unlike other phones with QWERTY keypads, this isnt that big which is good.

I rate this phone a 4.

Good Cricket Phone

Dec 4, 2007 by loustar

I have the Lingo version that Cricket offers and I think it is a really nice phone. It offers everything you need and then some, but not everything that you don't need or want. It is a good phone for texting, which is why the keyboard is there, and offers Cricket users a good texting phone as text messaging is unlimited with every Cricket plan.

PROS:

- Good Text Messaging Phone [+ 0.5]
- Decent Battery Life [+ 0.5]
- 1.3 MP Camera[+ 0.5]
- Small [+ 0.5]
- Decent Features [+ 0.5]
- Stylish [+ 0.5]
- Pretty Good Speaker [+ 0.5]
- Nice Signal [+ 0.5]
- Bluetooth [+ 0.5]
- Nice Colored Screen [+ 0.5]
- Flash With Camera [+ 0.5]

TOTAL: 5.5

CONS:

- Internal screen is a little small [- 0.25]
- Pictures are a little grainy and sharpened in dark areas [- 0.25]
- No MP3 Player [- 0.5]

FINAL TOTAL: 4.5 [Very Good!]

The camera thing isn't a big deal.
It is a cell phone camera...so...they aren't perfect.
The MP3 player would be neat, but if you want a good MP3 player, get an iPod or MP3 player. The internal screen is a little small, but it still is very bright and colorful.

Sleek, Hot, and Improved

This phone is simply amazing. And a definite improvement to the Strobe.
Pros:
Great screen quality
Takes better pics than any other Virgin Mobile phone
Very modern and expensive looking (if u get it in black)
Has flash & flash light
Bluetooth
Of course the QWERTY keypad
Buttons are much easier to press than on strobe
Good battery life
Cons:
Can't send pics, ringtones, and numbers via bluetooth (or I just haven't been able to figure it out yet)
No video
Came with sorry Virgin Mobile backgrounds & screen savers
Internal screen could be larger
And finger prints are extremely visible

Overall this is the most impressive Virgin Mobile phone I've had, and I've had all of them. The only thing that could make this phone totally kick a$$ would be a music player... maybe one day.

Sweet phone =)

I was playing with a friends tonight and it's a really awesome phone. I did notice myself crossing my thumbs over the toggle pad when I was texting. Other than that It was great. I hope I can get that phone and dump my Tracfone.

M1000 Wildcard (Virgin)

Dec 7, 2007 by chia

When it comes down to it, this is pretty much a SwitchBack with an altered form factor. The camera and outer screen are slightly improved, and it also weighs a bit less. Pretty much everything else is about the same, down to the ridiculously short interior screen. In some cases the Wildcard is even a downgrade from its predecessor, such as with the weak keyboard and flimsy case.

Pros:

Not too bulky for a QWERTY phone.
Outer screen is pretty large, though its still 128x128.
Virgin Mobile is, generally speaking, the least expensive carrier out there.

Cons:

Interior screen is not tall. It looks wide, but actually in pixel size it isn't.
Battery life is quite bad.
Relative to other Virgin phones, it's a pretty expensive device (though not compared to most other carriers' QWERTY phones).
Speaker volume is dramatically louder when the device is open.
The construction of the device is flimsy and cheap looking. The battery cover is screwed on and doesn't fit flush with the case- it actually looks warped and bulged in one spot. The keys look and feel weak. They even put the Virgin logo upside-down on the keyboard.

In short, there aren't a whole lot of improvements from the SwitchBack save for exterior look. When you open this device up, it actually looks and feels a bit worse. It isn't even actually that much smaller, though it initially looks like it is. However, with Virgin you don't have a whole lot of choices if you want a QWERTY phone (just this or the SwitchBack) and it's probably the better one.

Pretty Good Phone

Pros: Camera is a major improvement
for Virgin.
Both Display Screens are sharp and
Clear when using your on pix or
purchased pix.
Keyboard is user friendly and well lit
for use at night.
The Black phone color purchased at
Best Buy is sleek and sophisticated.
Cons: Very poor speaker; crackles when
playing games and loudness is very low
compared to the Switchback loudness
quality.
Poor menu graphics; I prefer the
Switchback color detailed animated
Menu graphics.
I also own Cingular Sync which I use the Jawbone BlueTooth device and I have not had a chance to try out the blue tooth feature on the Wildcard with the Jawbone (it is charging as I write this). If I have any problems with assimulating/using the Jawbone with WildCard, I will write back. Also if you are a "Newbee" in purchasing Virgin, some of the features as keyguard and ring/vibrate may give you "Feature not Available" while charging for the first time. You may have to take out the battery and replace it to turn on the keyguard and vibrate/ring feature. Also may take 4 hours after activating the phone to receive downloads or txt and phone calls.

Please Send Downloads

So far I like the phone. Yeah it has alot of features on it but over half of them are not available yet. Why would there be a phone to where you can't turn the ringer off yet? You can't change sound to vibrate yet either. All you have is ringing. I turned the volume all the way down and yeah it still rings out loud. I have to turn the phone completely off at night just so that it won't wake me in the middle of the night with a call. There are no accessories for this phone either. I'm sure it should be PC compatible but where are the serial cables? Where is the earpiece for easy driving? Oh and it's not web access ready yet either so forget subscribing to new ringtones or downloads for now. I spent alot of money on this phone and I would love for it to at least do 1/4 the things it's supposed to be able to do. Please hurry and change or upgrade the features quickly.

pretty good phone

May 29, 2008 by rbv11168

Ok. For the price, this is a good phone. My service is with Virgin Mobile. I have had other phones, with VM. This has the best signal of all of them. I have a couple of issues though. The speaker level is pretty low. Even with speaker level all the way up, I still can't hear it very well. The camera takes pics well in, but in darken rooms it has some display issues. Overall, I think that it is the best prepaid phone out there.

Pros
Lightweight
Signal stregnth
VXL(the internet, ringtones and games service)
Nice keyboard

Con
Speakerphone volume
Camera
