v9m for sprint vs. sanyo m1

Feb 19, 2008 by hindukid8

i switched to this phone from the sanyo m1.
pros
-the qvga outer display. very sharp. the touch sensitive buttons make it very flashly. you can even read text msg's without opening your phone! i don't know if thats a good thing or a bad thing though. guess it depends on the situation, definatly keep a phone lock on.
-the 2 megapixel camera is good in good light, but it was no comparison to my M1, which had a focus lock on it, making pictures in good lighting even better ( i have shaky hands, which is not a good thing with mobile cameras , but a cinch with the M1)
-2gb capacity is kinda lame. but its more than my old phone. i saw that someone got 4gb into this, but i do not know how to format a card as a certain type. so i'm not sure if i'll be able to successfully achieve 4 gb status
-texting is fairly quick. i-tap is not that bad. from someone who absolutly cannot stand t-9, i thought this was pretty good. almost as good as the Sure Type. i thought it would be terrible and i would never get used to it. but i've had a good expierience with the keyboard so far.

cons
-livejournal sprint mobile application doesn't work. with this phone.
-text messaging lags. from the moment you press the soft kep 'send' to when the text is actually sent is about 9 seconds. which is crazy.
-battery life is bad. i have used this phone very minimally, while getting used to the keypad. and i have killed the battery before the end of the day two days in a row! (i've only had the phone for 2 days) and thats scary.
-had my phone reset itself already. i had to do a hard reset to get the power button to work. its only happened once. but i've only had this phone for 2 days.
-get a phone screen cloth. because the prints on the screen is ridiculous. extremely visible, and ugly, and make your camera blurry.
-sprint music store is lagging, but i noticed the same lagging on my M1 recently. so i wasn't surprised.
-myspace is unable to switch from beta to classic. and that makes me upset

The Motorazr2 V9m (Verizon)...

Sep 9, 2007 by Jimbodini

Previous phones:
**
V60i; V60s; V710; E815; V3i; V3m; Motorola Krzr 1m; Moto Maxx Ve.

-This phone(Motorazr2 V9m) is head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to reception and call quality.
-As for features, bluetooth and camera it's not bad, but first and foremost it's a phone.

Pros:
**
-Great looks,
-Great reception,
-You can tilt the phone sideways to watch streaming videos as full wide screen with VCAST.
-Soft buttons, large internal & external screens.
-Camera and recorder fill the whole screen.
-No more red bars.

Cons:
**
-If there are no defects, then there are no cons to this phone. It's simply that good.

-Whether a phone has Java, Linux, or other features, that's personal preference. A phone cannot have everything. However, you can not go wrong with this phone.

Poor battery life

Aug 28, 2007 by mall

Feels great and comfortable to hold. Loud speakers and good sound. After one day of evaluation my chief compalint is the battery. Died after 2 1/2 hours of talk time. Advertised as 3.67 hours. If this continues I'll be in a position of choosing another phone, or going back to the katana DLX.

V9m - indulgence

Aug 27, 2007 by cbrowne

Got it Saturday via the web. It is so sweet, I'm now officially a Moto freak. It feels so cool, heavier than it looks, lots of metal, outside screen is AWESOME. I forget the thing is in my pocket, it is so thin.

PROS:

Sprint TV (don't want to see bill next month), YouTube

CONS:

Launch time on Music (slow), OneDemand (slow, use Google Home page)

More later...

Not Impressed! Not worth the money!

Nov 26, 2007 by bulldawg29108

i owned the Motorola E815 before purchasing this phone. I'm going to take this phone back and keep the E815 until something better comes out.

Cons:
-poor vibrate
-can't switch to vibrate with the phone closed
-can't open phone with it in the holster, too difficult to get in and out of holster
-unattractive leather case
menu with only list not icon display
reception not as good as E815
-large external screen, however caller I.D names are small, and pictures are about the size of a dime.
-the flip portion of te phone is already loose,

If you dont own a good phone this might be ok, however if you have an old E815 keep it, good reception and can take a beating

Its a Phone

Ok, lets start with the battery. ALL CELL PHONE BATTERIES NEET TO BE CONDITIONED! If you don't, you just ruined the battery for good. The "ESTIMATED" battery life set by Motorola are from tests done in shop, meaning with full signal, and the phone isn't being handled while tested (meaning in stand-by, the phone is turned on and left until it says its powering down, the screen is never lit up and no buttons are pushed). This means as soon as you push a button, the estimated life drops. Lastly (about the battery) features kill the battery, having blue-tooth on uses almost as much battery as a phone call, and for the speaker, you may as well only use it when the phone is plugged in.

Features: YOU ARE GETTING WHAT YOU BUY! all the negative comments are from people whose phone doesn't do what THEY WANT IT TO, well, if you want to be able to do it so bad, you should have played with it in the store (I work retail, no store will ever refuse that) before you made your decision.

Performance: The phone does exactly what it says it does, no better no worse, plain and simple.

I go through phones like water (Can't have customers seeing me with something from a history book), and this is one of the best yet. If you are looking to buy a phone, this is well worth the money!!!

Great Phone Terrible GUI

Sep 18, 2007 by eyethink

Ok... Any Verizon employees have the name and title of the person responsible for creating and implementing your GUI (Graphical User Interface). Seriously, WTF!!! Such a beautiful phone designed by Motorola and then Verizon puts that GUI inside. Motorola, is it possible to ban Verizon from doing this to your well thought out and beautifully crafted phone. It's like having a new private jet but the interior of the jet is equal to that of a really bad trailer park home! WTF Verizon. Wake up!

Verizon RZR2 V9m

Sep 7, 2007 by blk05

I've had the phone for 4 days now. I like the look size and feel of the phone. I keeps finger prints on the front but I really don't care about that. There are a number of features that Motorola put on the phone that Verizon 86'ed. Those are the feature why I bought the phone. I previously had an LG vx8000...that I loved. It has more features than the new V9m and its 4 years old.

Pros:
- nice size and feel. Very thin.
- can make a call without opening it using voice commands.
- touch buttons are cool.

Cons:
- Can't view txt meassages from the out side, must flip open. Motorola designed it to read from the outside and reply with a stored message without opening it. Verizon 86'ed.
- can activate camera from outside but need to open to terminate. Same with mp3 player.
- The CystalTalk feature (background noise canceling) that Motorola designed...Verizon 86'ed.
- Boring User Interface. Looks just like my phone that's 4 years old.

Overall I like the phone but the Cons might make me return this phone. My old vx 8000 has better features that I was expecting to have on the V9m. Hopefully they will do updates to fix these problems...who knows. I just think Motorola designed a great phone and all of the phone providers hacked it up. WHY?

RAZR2 V9m

Jan 21, 2008 by WFB415

PROS:
Beautiful inside and outside screens
Excellent Call Quality
Beautifully constructed solid phone
Editors of CNet rated this phone as one of the 5 best picks

CONS:
So-so signal strength - original razr's reception was better
Collects smudges and fingerprints easily
Sometimes very slow to load applications

NEWS FLASH: I've heard RIM is coming out with a touch screen Blackberry. If so, this phone will rock and be a very hot seller.

Good phone
