Nice Chocolate

Aug 6, 2007 by saltabo

Extremely satisfied with the new chocolate.

Pros:
-Nice and compact
-Lightweight
-Cool swivel, once you get used to it, it's really cool to use
-Beautiful display, high resolution
- Awesome MP3 player

Cons:
-Swivel takes a few days to get used to...once you get it, it's awesome though!

slider now OK ...Love the new Chocolate

Aug 7, 2007 by ticuti

Other people have mentioned the slider problem and I had it too on my first VX 8550 which I returned and I haven't had any problem with my new VX 8550 since. They told me there was a problem with the first phones that came out but it's fixed now.

Best cons:
Slider
Sleek look
Display
Loud and clear sound
Great MP3

Cons:
The great glossy finish can attract smudges

Great MP3 player

I am very excited I waited to get this phone. It's nice, sleek and compact and the best part is that you get an MP3 player as well. The sound quality is truly awesome! I love this product.

Sleek Chocolate

Jan 15, 2008 by Chocolate444

The VX8550 is a very well-rounded phone. It looks very good, it is by far the best looking phone I have had ever. The sleek red touch buttons add to this appeal. This phone actually resembles a chocolate bar! One of the problems with the design is that the phone is prone to scratches very easily. It also doesn't help, that when you scratch the screen (you eventually will) you can see annoying scratches all over the screen. This is a major annoyance and detracts from the chocolates appeal and sharp screen. The camera is good for a phone. Well, I can say that the camera is better than 9 out of every 10 phones I have seen. It has lots of blue tooth features, (unlikely on a verizon phone). You can even bluetooth pictures to a printer or another phone! The scroll wheel and haptic-feedback touch buttons are hard to get used to but after you get it, you will never forget it, (kind of like an iPod). Battery life is good. It usually last me 2-3 days of calls, texts, taking pictures, etc. The menus also look great and add appeal to the phone as well. Also, I am just warning you, this phone will smudge, (no matter how hard you try you will smudge it everyday, every hour). This is because the whole phone is covered with high-gloss plastic. The keypad is okay. It is not the best for texters, but hey no phone is perfect. Call Quailty is good but not great. But I always get a signal (I live in Los Angeles area with Verizon). The LG Chocolate is a great phone, for an exceptionally cheap price. You get way more fun and features than what you pay for.

People with big finger beware!

Oct 8, 2007 by Drootz

This itty bitty little phone should not be even thought of for people with large fingers or hands. I had this phone for about 2 & 1/2 weeks and wanted to toss it out a window!

I hated it. Every time I tried to use the jog dial menu, I would accidently graze the clear button (Which is a touch screen button so it would back me out of the current menu and now I have to start all over again in the menu) I found the only way to avoid this was to always push the button to the left. So if I grazed anything it would be the touch screen speakerphone button. Being fed up and thinking I wouldn't make it a year I exchanged it

I exchanged it for the MotoRizr Z6TV and they both function almost the same except the Rizr Z6TV is far better to use and easy for those with larger hands. both are sliders and basically look the same just function a little differently.

Another annoying thing about this phone is if you are using a bluetooth headset and don't have the phone number you want to call in your phonebook and actually dial the number from the phone. You are unable to use the mic on your bluetooth once the call connects. You can hear from the headset but not talk. You have to use the receiver of the phone to talk if you use the buttons to dial the number even with a bluetooth headset.

Pros:
music player
good selection of wallpaper and moving backgrounds right out of the box.
decent ringers for stock ringtones
calendar feature from front jogdial

Cons:
Way too Small buttons
touch screen butons even turned down too sensitive and too close to the jog dial.
bluetooth headset problem described above.
doesn't autocomplete (predictive text)
No holster or belt clip included
Verizons crippled software
battery life wasn't as good as it says
poor reception and low call quality
lousy camera

A Great Music Phone!

Sep 26, 2007 by GoBuckeyes

First things first, this is not a texting phone. I hope that helps all you text messaging people out there. Don't even try this phone, however you are able to text but it's not the Enve or the sammy u740.
Now if you're into music, this is the bomb! This phone is made for music besides being an excellent phone for communicating, and the 1.3 m.p. camera IMO is just as good as the 8700 which has a 2.0 m.p. cam.

Pros:
~Loud and clear ear piece(so loud, I keep it turned down a little.)
~Speakerphone is very good. Loud and pretty clear.
~Speaker for music is excellent,no distortion and a built in music effect for all kinds of music.
~Camera is great takes clear pics in good lighting (no flash)
~Sturdy slider form factor.
~Very customizable!
~Thin and sexy looking
~Fingerprints are not as bad as Krazr, maxx ve, or the new Razor v9m.
~Pairs up w/ bluetooth headset smoothly
~Excellent reception
~Verizon's enhanced U.I.

I love this phone and I must admit, I've had many over the years but this is my favorite by far! There are so many goodies you find that you can customize and learn with ease. A ton of features is an understatement. Yes, I had to get used to the wheel, but no prob. after a week. If keys are too sensitive that surround the wheel, you can turn off vibrate and make the sensitivity lower. Keys also lock manually.
I honestly can't think of any cons. the battery kife isn't that bad and you are able to purchase the extended battery if needed.

Get this phone! You can't beat it especially on Verizon's network. 5 outta 5 baby!

Great Phone

I don't have time to write a full review right now but I wanted to rate this phone.

IMO it is a 5/5. I loved the new slimmer form factor, the new colors with the chrome trim down the middle, the improved camera is nice. the new layout for the keypad is much better for all entry modes. the music player is great and plays in the background. Signal and battery life are good.

I have no complaints with this phone other then I would like to see a Product (RED) version come.

LG 8550

Jul 29, 2007 by Snodog

I have owned this phone for little over a month now, and i enjoy every aspect of it. My previous phone was the Samsung 629 from T-Mobile, i find that the 8550 may have its little quirks that you need to deal with, but in my experience that comes with any new phone you buy. One thing that i enjoy about the phone is the scroll wheel. I can set the sensitivity to my choosing along with the touch sensitive keys. One thing that i do not enjoy about the phone is that the scroll bar will sometimes move a little too sensitively sometimes and ill accidentally choose the wrong menu option. Making up for the downside is the fact that its on Verizon Wireless. I have never owned Verizon service in the past and the 8550 seems to be the star of the show. It can do most anything that Verizon has to offer. The only thing that it does not include is the television watching capabilities but i can go on to Get It Now videos and watch clips of my favorite shows like stand up or South Park. Another downside to the phone is that I fear for my phones durability. I have dropped it once and there is a horrid scratch at the top and my slider seems to be a little loose. Other than that, my 8550 does all i need it to do and more, i am quite satisfied with my purchase!

Awesome cool phone

This phone is so cool, I love it. The scroll wheel and light is fun and very esy to use. Camera is impressive, a nice added feature. Best part of this phone is the music. I love the fact that you can play the music in the background and use your phone.
