LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!

Jan 9, 2008 by prdmami2mixedboi

I got this phone in January of 2007... not long after it came out and loved it!! ( i have since gotten a new phone but wanted to rate this one) It has been by far the best phone i have owned!...so far!

PROS

Outside touch screen MP3
2.0 mega pixel camera ((works great!!))
awwesome video!
lovely color and rubberized outside! ((RED))
nice big display
3G
buttons are very easy to press
not too difficult to figure out

CONS

Sometimes the speaker was very hard to hear on
signal wasnt as great as a the crappy razor i had before
no external speaker... just listen to MP3's from earpeice
couldnt assign my own ringtone to text messages

I would reccomend this phone to anyone... when it came out it was by far the best thing going... now there are a few phones that have caught up and tried... Since i had owned it for almost a year now i have slipped into something new! I tried the LG shine and went through 2 that were defective!! So i have since went to the trusty Samsung brand and gotten a SLM which i love too, but still miss my SYNC! Reccommend to all!

Not impressed

Jan 6, 2008 by CrowBlackDream86

I purchased this phone about eight months ago, and was happy with it for about a week. First of all the menu was extremely slow, as was deleting messages, sending messages, and connecting to the mobile web. Now, I live in Upstate New York where 3G hasn't been introduced yet so that explains the slow processing of the web sites and messaging. However, when my fingers can scroll through the menus much faster than the Sync will allow, it's irritating.

The phone also didn't pick up a signal all that well due to the internal antenna. I have an LGCU400, and an old Motorola V500 and both had about three bars in thin areas whereas the Sync had zero to one.

As for features, the phone was good. Decent quality on the audio output, good camera, and video recording. So if you're only interested in features or in a high signal area at all times, then the phone is a good choice.

Luckily for me (If you want to consider it lucky) the cat saw the phone vibrating, and decided to swat it into a water dish. 132 dollars later, and I have an LGCU515 which I'm happy with. Performs functions faster, but still has an internal antenna.

Not amazing,but not horrible

I previously owned this phone for about a year and it was a trustworthy phone overall.

Pros:
-big,clear screen
-big,easy-to-use buttons(great for texting)
-Music Player
-Decent camera (camera has a con though)
-Stylish design/menus
-Large memory(also memory stick compatible)
-Outer touch play/pause, and next buttons
-many other cool little features that will keep your phone fun to use
-pretty durable except for outer screen. i dropped this easily more than 20 times and only a few scratches were left on it

Cons:
-The outer screen on mine cracked and was unusable forever.I will admit a chair was sat on top of the phone... but many others experienced the screen cracking with much less harse conditions
-music menu somewhat unorganized and sync-ing with windows media player caused tracks to still be unknown track and artists after i renamed them... but then some were added
-phone is a little TOO big(length)it was almost embarrassing to talk on it
-keypad smudges easily
-camera is a relatively good one... but everything in the picture has to be COMPLETELY STILL otherwise picture will come out soft
-also when you take a picture, it takes about 3-4 seconds after u hit to capture button for the picture to be actually taken

Overall the phone has plenty of features to keep you entertained, just some aren't the best quality.

Great Phone!

I got this cell phone for Christmas. My previous phone brand was sprint, and the service was horrible. So we switched over to AT&T. Here is my pros and cons about the phone.

PROs:
- Connects a phone call very fast.
- Standby time is very long, so charging everyday isn't required.
- Has a built in MP3 player.
- Speaker Phone.
- Has profiles;airplane,meeting,outdoors,etc.
- Free built in games.
- Can record a sound or music and set as ring tone.
- Camera is great.
- Internet is fast. ( I pay each month for it.)

CONs:
- Doesn't come with a USB cable.
- Doesn't come with a Micro SD card to store music and stuff.
-When charging, it doesn't have a light to show if it is done charging or not.
- That's all! It is a great phone overall. :)

Decent phone but not top of the line

I'm not gonna list all the pros & cons, others have, but here are a few cons they didn't mention:
I don't use all the features, listening to mp3s, playing games, making a bunch of calls & the battery STILL sucks. If I don't use it for a day.. then make a few text msgs the next day, the battery will already be 1/2 down.

RANDOMLY it stopped making & receiving calls. The battery was at 2/3, I had all my signal, & I was still receiving text messages.. but it just dropped all my calls. I plugged it in & it worked. Another day the battery was at 1/3, same thing, so I plugged it in & it worked. Imagine being in an emergency situation & you will be really mad.

The sound is really muffled. Could just be my phone idk. I had a lower grade phone before with much clearer sound quality.

When texting; it has a lot more characters, (letters with accents, Greek letters) which is fine but the #s are at the end of that! So I have to go through like 8 symbols before I get to the number! WHO uses accents & Greek letters more often then they use numbers! That was SUCH a stupid idea! It should be "a,b,c,2.." & THEN the rest. Also, there are a lot of emoticons, but they don't show as emoticons, they show as :-) ..so you can't see them. So passed the happy & sad face, I'm not gonna use any of them (& there are like 30) because how the hell am I supposed to know what :-*^L comes out looking like? You see! It's so weird! Either MY phone is really F'ed up, or there are just some WEIRD errors in an otherwise smartly-designed phone.. so strange.

So I a little am disappointed with these short-comings. Otherwise it seems to be a good phone. It is longer & larger then what I'm used to (but you get a bigger screen which is nice) but since it's pretty thin I'm ok with it; it fits nicely in your back pocket or your little purse. Since it was free with my renewal of contract then it's definitely not bad. But yeah, I was disappointed by these little quirks.

Pretty Lil Red Thang

Well, they always said never get a Motorolla. So I stuck with Samsungs and Nokias.

Went to the local shop to check out the phones, then came to ps for research. The Sync seemed to get great reviews by its users, more so than other phones being offered by AT&T.

Pros (besides it just looks slick):
Nice internal display, clear images
Large font for elderly (no offense, Momma)
Large buttons for elderly (see above)
Fun features
Very "elder user" friendly if they are using it only for calls.

Cons:
Unlike other flips, it just feels awkward even after two weeks. No matter how we hold our phones, both Mom and I just can't seem to get used to the width and length of this pretty, red machine.

The volume toggle button does not turn the front display on and off like the manual says it does. (Keep in mind Mom and I got our phones from different markets: Mom's from a local retailer and mine from a warehouse in Texas via online order.)

Too many little steps to get the the task you want.

All in all, I like it. I'm not really comfortable with it yet. If this were a Nokia, perhaps I'd feel right at home nestling it to my ear. Samsung makes good products, just not sure this one is up to par.

Closest thing to perfect

Dec 25, 2007 by Idontwantaname

Obviously, for most people, no phone is going to have every single feature that they would like. This phone, to me, seems to be the closest thing to perfect. I didn't realize how good this phone was until I purchased the Samsung U900 Flipshot, which is a horrible phone, by the way.

Pros:
-A nice internal screen
-Expandable memory up to 2GB
-Nice interface
-PDF and .doc file support, which is excellent and includes search and zooming!
-Nice flat keys, and a good design (although it is a little wide and long)
-Address book is big, and the interface is nice
-Texting interface is nice, and it does come with nice little icons and sounds

Cons:
-Can't delete the built-in Cingular numbers, pre-loaded Samsung pictures or tones without hacking the phone
-Can't use your own ringtones as text messaging tones (although one can work around this by converting an mp3 to wav to .mmf), same goes with alarm tones
-Can't use other applications while listening to the media player, which is kind of a joke, since it has a silly visualization, and can't be customized
-Shutter sound is always on on the camera, but that goes for a lot of phones
-No Gmail app, and some java apps don't work

I think the pros really outweigh the cons, as the cons are very minor.

I really, really recommend this phone. It is the best phone I've ever owned!

Great phone for basics and a little beyond.

Dec 22, 2007 by johntrak

The Synch (SGH A 707) for Cingular/AT&T, has been around for a little over a year and although there are newer tech phones with more features, few if any have the performance and clarity of this little gem. There's a good reason customers keep buying this phone and the demand for it remains high. If you use your cell primarily for calls, this phone does the job and well. We didn't use the music or other features so much as we did the basics. There are some great reviews on this site for that if you should like to delve a little further. Audio clarity is clear and volume is good in most cases. Ear proximity can be a problem on many phones but not so much on this one. The voice dial feature, I had on my Motorola V551, is missing but nothing I can't live with out. Displays are clear and easy to read. The menu system, though expansive, is easy to access and user friendly but there's no pop up explanation screens and the paper users manual, as often the case, is not written very well. I've already marked it up with shortcuts to common issues. Some items are not explained properly at all so beware. Overall, it's a good phone with great performance and long battery charge life. There is a bluetooth computer interface but software is only available for Windows, sorry Linux or Mac users. Not to worry, the micro SD card, an option, will let you transfer most data, music, ring tones so not to worry. Competing carriers, such as ones that feature "get it now" won't let you do that, shame on them but chalk one up for AT&T. The SD card slot is deep and inserting the card is not easy, you will need a pen or small object to push it all the way in until it clicks in place. Colours are red, blue, or black.

Pros:
Good tranceiving capability, long battery life.

Cons:
Missing voice dial feature. Otherwise, no complaints. Small learning curve though.

Buy or no buy:
Resounding yes if you don't need lots of features and like simplicity.

Proud Abuser

I love this phone, and it has directly contributed to my store winning a district sales competition because of the quality. It's large, which is a drawback, but does everything I need it to. And if there's a phone out there that works well for me AND my mother, then you've gotta give it props. We each own and love them.

The only complaint I have is the fact that you can't just hit a button on the side of the phone to see your clock, which doesn't work well for me, and the speaker is a tad weak, until you put it on speaker phone. Then it'll wake the neighbors. But the sound clarity is good, so the volume level doesn't have to be that high.

The pros are the great sound from the MP3 player, awesome camera, long video record time, and the software. It's easy to use and has powerful features. Also, I have personally dropped mine in fire (a big one at that), fallen into a pond with it, run over it with an SUV, dropped it on every surface imaginable, and since none of this was in a case, and mine's scratched now.

A comment I'd like to make is that I see a lot of negative reviews of this phone. I personally sell a lot of these phones and would like to point a couple things out.

Using the player and data capabilities will drain your battery faster, turn them off and it'll extend battery life.

Big screen, big back lit keys, and lots of capabilities mean the standard battery life is going to be shorter. Take this into account.

It isn't an LG phone, so if you're coming from the Verizon network, which has a standardized format, you're going to have to learn it. Frankly, the Motorola and LG operating systems wouldn't be well suited to this type of phone in my opinion.

It's a good line, BUT DOES HAVE LEMONS every now and then. Exchange it for a new one if your first doesn't work. It is worth it.

Best solution to the battery thing is buy a smart charger like the iGo and charge every night, they'll shut off when it's charged. Case to avoid scratches. Great phone overall.
