Cute Phone but........

Jul 18, 2007 by Butta25

This is my first time having a Motorola phone. I saw this phone and immediately wanted it. But before I purchased it, I came on here to read all of the reviews, particularly the bad ones and it still did not change my decision because I really wanted this phone. Well I'm telling all the people that are in the same boat as I was, there are some things you need to know!
I've had this phone for a month and already having problems!
1. Sometimes the camera button does not work. I will click it and click it and it will not work.
2. Sometimes the phone freezes. I don't recall ever having that problem with the 5 phones I had before this one.
3. Sometimes it assigns a ringtone without my ok! Every now and then I will play around and record something. There is no option to assign a recording as a ringtone. My recordings are usually me goofing around. So to my surprise, my phone will ring with my recording! How embarrassing for me! And it's not something I'm doing by accident because it doesn't happen right away. I'll receive phone calls after recording something and it will not ring with my recording. It usually happens two days later for whatever reason.
4. All I have to do is look at my phone and it needs to be charged! I can send 5 text messages, talk on the phone for 20 minutes and I have to charge it! I do keep my phone on vibrate but still that's not enough to be charged!
5. I literally have to use my fingernails to type texts! Some people on here made it seem impossible to type a text but I disagree, it is possible, just do it with your fingernails!
6. I also don't like that I can't read the time on the outside of the phone on a sunny day.
7. For those that use their phone for alarm clocks, I don't think this rings loud enough. I've had several phones and this phone does not ring that loud. I do like that I can set my alarm to vibrate. If it wasn't for that option I don't know what I would do.
So pretty much if you want a phone for looks, get this phone.

Not Sure How I Feel.....

Apr 1, 2007 by dieseld444

I have had this phone now for 2 months. Like I said I am not sure how I feel. Want to go back to the LG 5200
CONS:
1.When on vibrate never vibrates just gives missed calls well after the fact.
2.All of the ring tones are locked out (can't listen)
3.Doesn't ring the contact's ring, rings random.
4.SLOW SLOW SLOW.
This is what I get from VZ. It is a software problem that Motorola knows about. You think that this software problem would have been taken care of by now...If too much longer going back to my old phone.

Other then that
I really don't care about the finger prints. When Songs DO play they don't sound bad. For a camera phone pictures are not that bad. Do wish it had a flash though.

I've had better

I replaced my V710 with the blue KRZR K1M from Verizon. What attracted me to it was the sleek, compact case and features. They may not be able to keep me though. Compared to my V710, the speaker sounds muffled. I work in a noisy factory, but I was able to hear callers fine with the V710. Not so with KRZR. Also, it doesn't hold calls as well as V710. Yesterday I was using it in the store and the call dropped. This seldom happened with the 710.

However, KRZR does have a decent camera compared to the 710. The bluetooth seems to work better, and isn't locked down as heavily as previous Verizon phones. Verizon is learning something here! The music player also handles mp3s natively. Luckily I haven't YET experienced the same glitches with blank screens that others have. I may be trading it and trying the LG 8600.

Disappointing

Nice looking phone but electronically it is incredibly slow, i switched back to the reliable Sanyo phones.

Phone isn't all that...

When I first saw the phone I had to have it. It looks very sleek and solid. After I purchased it and used it for a few days I was very disappointed in it. It seems Motorola has the same problem with all their phones, they are all unbelievably slow. It takes actually a few seconds for the phone to respond. I returned it and got a treo 700p.

Pros:
-Very appealing
-Front touch screen for mp3's
-feels very solid
-camera is excellent

Cons:
-Not much of a change compared to the Razr
-There is a front glass so you get smudges on it everywhere
-Slow as a turtle

In my opinion if you're looking for a phone with basic uses this is the phone for you (if you don't mind the lag) with a little bit of extra such as mp3's and camera.

Average.

overall, this phone is a really good phone. it does what a phone should do plus some extras. its great for using as just a cell phone. not as an mp3 player. the mp3 player function is pretty cool, and the buttons on the front really look nice. but the battery life goes down extremely quickly if used as an mp3 player.

pro's:
good battery life (if you don't use the mp3 player)
extremely nice looking
good camera
durable

con's:
LAG. this phone takes forever to do just about anything.
FRAGILE. with one or two drops the phone will stop functioning.
KEYS ARE VERY SMALL. its hard to text on even with very small fingers.
iTAP. it doesn't memorize any word you constantly use.
SOFTWARE ISSUES!!! THIS CELL PHONE WILL ONLY RING AND VIBRATE AT THE SAME TIME IF YOU DONT SET ANY CUSTOM RINGTONES FOR PEOPLE.

I just bought this and I'm not very happy. I can't load new ringers unless I use get it now. Can not start the music unless I open the front first. Maybe I need more help with it but not having any luck with Verizon.

Nice but annoying

I only have one issue and it is not actually with the phone but the VZW os...

My old phone is a Motorola V710 through Verizon so I'm used to the look and feel of the whole thing. Unfortunately, they have completely cut off the easy way to put ringtones on the phone. On the V710 I simply copied mp3's to the appropriate folder on my transFlash card and was able to access them as ringtones.

The new setup uses ringtones only from a location on the phone itself for which there is not an equivalent folder created on the card. I hate the fact that we are pushed toward buying things on the phone when technology allows us to do it ourselves. Oh, well. Guess I'll have to get used to that while I search for a work-around.

Pros:

Other than that, this phone is excellent. I keep mine in my pants pocket and the slim size is nice for that. I also think it just looks cool and feels quite solid.

I'm also pleased with the sound quality, volume, vibrate (no problem feeling it), reception, and battery life.

Its pretty good so far (5 days).

Great Alltel Phone

Oct 14, 2006 by Polish97

I just received the phone yesterday, but after one day on use I could not be more pleased. I was a nextel customer for 3+ years when their service became expensive and reception bad. Switching to Alltel, I figured I'll buy the new phone because I will carry it like my previous nextel phone for 3+ years. The KRZR has live up to its hype at least for what I do. I feel sorry for all the VZW customers who don't get to use the great UI Alltel has.

Pros:
- A phone that will fit in my pocket.
- Great reception and clarity, my house is full of electronics and not choppy or spotty calls.
- Style, I upgraded from a Nextel i95cl.
- Easy to use contacts, just like Nextel.
- Camera, very decent, but still an add-on not a primary function.
- Bluetooth works great with my Mac Mini.

Cons
- Mp3 player a little bulky, not the outside function buttons, but the software itself, it includes the standard ring tones as music.
- USB charging flap, a little difficult to operate without a long fingernail.
- The function of the phone while closed needs some improvement. Camera and mp3 player can be started but not stopped.

I'm not a cell phone enthusiast by any means but I did shop for 3 months before deciding on this phone. I haven't been let done yet. I don't text or use the web from phone so I can't fairly evaluate the keypad size for those texting but I did have to manually transfer all my contacts to the phone. Very few corrections from keypad being small.

I recommend this phone for everyday users, not the people who want to live their life from their phones. It's a great phone, not organizer, internet viewer, or multimedia platform.

Nice phone

Very good phone overall, but not perfect.

Pros:
- Good reception for me so far (better than my old LG phone)
- No external antenna
- Speakerphone that really works (flip needs to be open to answer, can be closed during call)
- Voice dialing that really works (without training)
- Comfortable to hold
- Doesn't get hot during use
- Easier to position on ear to hear than RAZR
- Keypad much more usable than RAZR (square keys)
- Vibrate and Ring
- Sidetone (the ability to hear your own voice in the earpiece)
- Seems like a phone an adult might own
- Feels like an honest successor to StarTac
- Cheap with a new every two discount and special $50 online rebate (total cost was $50 to me)

Cons:
- Vibrate is weak
- Battery only gives me about 2:20 talk time over 48-60 hours and then needs recharging
- No quick way (one button) to change to silent mode or vibrate mode (that I know of)
- Narrow width and slightly thicker than RAZR makes it seem a lot thicker than RAZR
- Looks very nice, but no real wow factor with RAZR owners I know
- Weight is a few grams heavier than it should be
- Don't like the mini USB cover
- Fingerprints
- No Vibrate THEN Ring
