Different Key Pads on the 8600's ?? Why

So check this out -

We got one 8600 from Best buy and the keypad on the one from VZW today is very different..

The keypad on the best buy one has raised horizontal silver seperators and the key feel is totally different. The VZW unit is much softer and frankly a bit easier to use.

Do we know why they made this change ?

Anyone notice this ?

I upgraded very recently to the 8600 through the Verizon website and mine has the silver horizontal separators. I don't think the keypad is all that difficult to use, either.

Maybe one of yours is older stock?

We bought 4 of them yesterday from a VZW store..

The one from Best buy is very different.

They all have the silver seperators , it's how the silver bands are on the keys and the key feel. It's very different.

The best buy phone , the silver bands are raised so that if you drag your finger from top to bottom you can really feel the raise. The ones from VZW are esentially flat, you can kind of feel them but not much. The VZW keys are much software as well..

It's really a whole new keypad and the hardware rev. inside is 1.0 on all 5 phones we have..

So what is this about ? Not sure ?

theatermax,

Have you had any luck figuring out why the keypads are different? Which one do you prefer--the one from Best Buy or VZW?

Thanks...

I had a warranty replacement and the new one has the raised silver bars. I noticed it immediately. Got original 8600 from VZW Online and replacement from a VZW store. Having the raised lines is a real plus when you aren't looking at the keypad. Wish the keys had more definition though... Blind dialing is nearly impossible for me on this phone.
