I send receive about 3,000 text messages a month so text functionality is very important. I am considering this phone so any input would be greatly appreciated!

*How many text messages can you save in your inbox and outbox?
* How many text messages can you select and send at the same time?
* Also, has anyone else ever gone from a blackberry or pda (keyboard) to this phone and how does it compare in terms of speed to type a message?
* Can you sync your phone to your computer so you won't lose your contacts if something happens to your phone?

Seems to hold 200 in the Inbox plus an unknown number in the Sent box

There is a cable provided with the 8400 to sync but you also have the option of saving contact list to the internal MicroSD card. From there it can be saved to you computer. From the MicroSD card, you can easily move it back to the phone incase of any problems with you contact list

Can't help with the other questions...

Text messages: I've had 200 in the Inbox, I've had 199 in Outbox. I'm not sure but i think that number is based on how much free space is in phone memory itself. no more at 200 for sure though.

You can send the same message to up to 25 recipients. It doesn't allow multiple messages, just multiple recipients.

I've had a sidekick and a PPC-6700, the full keyboard was nice, I still think that was faster than using T9. On the 8400 here, they have a couple extra T9 features: Auto-capital, Auto-space, word completion, and what i thought was interesting, they have a Next Word Prediciton, you type a series of words and it will guess what your next word will be. Ex. I just typed "I" on my phone and it came up with 'thought', 'said', 'dunno'. ...

I had the Sanyo 8300 and I think you can save 25-30 msgs? I know the 8400 has a memory card now...I don't know if you would be able to save messages to that. I know you can store pix and music on the the SD memory...not sure about text. You should call Sprint and find out.

As it comes, there is no way to save text messages to the SD card. I doubt anyone has a "fix" to allow text storage on the SD. 200 messages (roughly) in both Inbox and Sent seems like more than enough storage, even for a heavy texter. Unless you're one of those people who likes to save a bunch of texts for later viewing for whatever reason.
