I sell for Verizon - if there is one customer we get a lot, its the person who wants a cheap durable phone. Hopefully this may help cater to them.

aluminum would be a good material to use on a phone except it gets scratched & dented unless its really thick. If you are farmiliar with the Motorola V60 series u know what i mean and i believe that was steel. Durable, but very scratchable/ dentable. Plastic is cheaper, and easier to replace which is why they use it. The Motorola V325 is an ideal ruggedized phone. You are right about the fact that VZW does need to put out some more good solid basic flips- and one with an external caller ID at that!! Sure you can get a really cheap camera phone with a caller id like the audiovox 8910 or the samsung a850, but thats exactly what it is- a really cheap camera phone.
