My wife and I have both had VX8300s and Plantronics Voyager 510 bluetooth headsets since last July. We haven't used the bluetooth headsets much because of answering problems. About half of the time when we push the button on the headset to answer, the headset answers fine and the other half of the time it transfers to the phone. We are careful to only answer with a short push of the button, but it does not seem to matter. We just had both phones updated to software version 03 and came home and tested the headsets about 12 times, with the same results. The headsets work 100% of the time when making a call and my wife uses hers for making calls on a regular basis. We don't have any echo problems, just this erratic answer problem. I woul...

No, it is not a recommendation. As I said, updating to V3 did not result in any change. I guess I am just looking for replies as to what the problem might be. I am considering getting Motorola H700 headsets, but am afraid that they will have the same problem. I can get them for $99 at Verizon and return them if they don't work or get them for $65 on the web and have to go to more trouble returning them if they don't work. I have searched the archives and see that every headset works fine for some people and won't work for others, so there is no clear candidate for a good bluetooth headset.

I had the same problem with my 510. Really liked the headset, but would have to answer the call from the phone. Never could get it to work to answer from the headset. Just gave up.

To date I really liked the 510 and think it is the best NEXT to the Jawbone for reception.

I went over to the local Verizon store 2 days ago to pick up a Plantronics wired headset, thinking I'm giving up on bluetooth. The sales person started talking to me and I told him about the 510 answer problem and wanted to buy the wired headset. He said that they have been recommending getting the headset from the same manufacturer as the phone as it seems that people have less problems when they do that. I got the LG HBM-710 in white for my wife's VX8300 since the white ones are selling for $49.99 and the black ones were $69.99. He said that they are trying to get rid of the white ones because most people want the black ones. Anyway, after charging and mating it, we tried calling her phone about 6 times and she answered through the headset...

Well, we are also having some problems with the LG bluetooth headsets. ☚ī¸ They have disconnected from the VX8300 on occasion and we have to remate them. The problem is that we don't realize this until a call comes in and there is no ring on the headset and we can't answer. One of them also was disconnected, even though the phone said that there was a connection. We returned them today. We are through with bluetooth, except for making calls from home with the Plantronics 510s. When we are out, we will use the old fashioned but reliable wired Plantronics MX250 headsets. They are loud, clear, no static and have noise cancellation. And they actually work every time. 🙂
