I would vote the a930, i've always been a samsung fan, i've put two samsung phones thru the washer and dryer and both work just fine after that.
Samsung all the way.

8300!!!!!!!!!!!! I tried the 930, hated it. Felt cheap and old fashioned. Just recieved the 8300 via FED EX today and so far it is awesome! Better than I could have expected!

The main reason I went to the 930 is cause I never had a Samsung phone. So wanted to try out somethign new. What I like is that there is no antenna so it wont annoy me when its in my pocket, I can answer the call when im driving without having to open the phone, and that the keys are big and feels solid. Ive had no problems with reception or hearing out the earpiece as some said. I live in NYC if that helps. Basically, I think if you just want a phone to call and get calls a930 but if your into all the gadgetry, have a external screen where you can see pic ID's and OBEX then I would give the 8300 a shot.

The a930 does not have the ability to add new words to the T9 dictionary. Since I text message A LOT, this is a deal killer for me. I'm going with the VX8300.
