Need Some Help Getting this for $199

Here's my deal. I'm not eligible for an upgrade until March 2007. I do have a corporate account through work but its a large corporation and we don't get discounts on phones. I have called customer service numerous times with the same result... pay full retail.

I could be mistaken but I believe I read that people where getting for $199 by signing up for a data plan but customer service said no to that as well.

I want the phone but I'm not going to spend $419 to get it.

BTW (here comes the ranting).. It always surprises me that Verizon (or any phone company) is so unwilling to sell me a phone for $199 which would lead to retaining me for an additional two years as well as coming close to doubling my monthly access plan...

You need to be eligible for an upgrade in order to get the phone at a 2 year price.
Although I think I heard somebody once say that you could get 25% off full retail if you weren't yet eligible.

Check the earlier posts for this.

I know that if you have a lost or stolen phone you can get a phone for 25% of full retail. I know that from personal experience. I lost my Samsung 950 about a week ago and I will be purchasing my Q next week.

I was in the same boat, right down to working for a large corp but no discount on phone, but my contract wasn't up until Nov 2007.

Well, after constant griping and asking for a supervisor, I got "an exception" and they allowed me to get the phone for 299. They still wouldn't do the 199 though. I also got a corp discount on my plan.

I thought this out too. Here is the deal, if you're not going to stay with Verizon (not get into another contract)
no matter what then do this:

1. sign up for a new line then switch the phone to your old line and put your current phone on the new line. On the 16th day cancel the new line and pay a $175 ETF. Depending on the phone you have now, let's say a razor, you can get 150-175 on eBay and that takes care of the ETF and final cost is 200.

If you want to keep them then do this:

2. Get the phone full retail and add the data package. It will be $319. Sell you phone, let's say a razor, for 150-175 on eBay. That will bring it down to like $150.

Both these options your still not under new contract so looks like a win win to me.

I went to the Circuit City today and the Verizon rep. told me that it will be $199 if I sign up for the unlimited data plan which is $45 on top of my current plan, or you could subscribe the unlimited data usage bundle as well.
