Outlook Sync - Too many contacts

I've heard different stories on this. Is there a way to limit the contacts that sync to the phone. For example, I may have 500 inactive clients in my computer Outlook. I surely don't need those on my phone. IS it possible to just load (sync) certain "categories" of contacts to the phone???
Any help is appreciated.

To my knowledge, NO. Its either all the contacts or none...

I think it depends on what program you are syncing. If you use Outlook then it might not be possible. We use a specific contact database system that allows me to select which categories I want to sync. For example, I have groups Mark's Buyers, Mark's Past Clients, etc. etc. and I can select which ones to sync thru the Intellisync Program I use to sync with.
On a side note, I sync about 2800 contacts and have had no problems so far.

In Outlook - You should be able to create a different contact folder(named like 'old contacts') and place all your contacts you do ot want to sync to your phone in there. When you set up active sync, you just have the original contact folder sync'ed. This worked for me on my IPAQ Smartphone. I do no thave the 6700 yet, I will be trading in the V phone hopefully this week. I'll try it when I get it and post back my result.

Good luck!
