There are a few ways you can do this. You have to setup activsync with your pc before you do anything. Once you have it setup and you can sync your phone, you can :
1) Use Windows Media player and sync your music / ringtones
2) Manually navigate your way into the device and copy the music into the my music folder

Once you move the media into your device, click on the song and hold your stylus down on it. A menu will open up and you will have the option to set it as a ringtone. Once that is complete, goto your SOUNDS/ NOTIFICATIONS menu and you can pick this song as your ringer...

I'm a little bit confused here... I've been struggling with this today... So, I did EXACTLY what you said to do, but that option doesn't pop up when I hold my stylus down on it at all... Is it something I'm doing wrong?!

Yes...This works for a Verizon XV6700. I have one. You get into the File Explorer and go to the Storage Card/My Documents/My Music or where ever your music is stored. You simply click and hold your stylus on the song that you want to use as a ringtone and select "Set as Ringtone" It moves the song to the My Device/Rings directory and you can go to notifications and the song will show under your choices for ringtones.
