Recalled ?? Sprint Store Said The PPC-6700 Has Been Recalled

Plano

I went to a Sprint store today and was told by the Assistant Manager that the HTC Apache PPC-6700 has been recalled. He said the store did not have them to sell, but they have been recalled so I could/should not get one at this time. He had no information as to why or when an updated unit would be available. He could not tell me what was wrong with the device that lead to the recall. He said there were bugs in it??? Does anyone know if this is true? He said he could sell me a Treo and I started to think this was just a sales deal trying to sell me something they had in stock. Comments?😲

I heard someone else talk about this earlier... The only thing I dont understand is why are they still selling them over the phone if they have a recall... I think it is just the sales persons pitch to sell you the treo... That is my guess... I dont know if i'm right or wrong... But I think the phone is fine for the most part cause if it wasn't they wouldnt be selling them anymore.

I'D LOVE IF SOMEONE THAT HAS HAD THIS PHONE FOR ALMOST THE MONTH NOW PUT IN A REVIEW AGAIN OF HOW IT IS GOING NOW... HAVE YOU NOTICED ANYTHING LATELY? DOES THE BATTERY HOLD CHARGE BETTER AFTER A COUPLE CYCLES... WHAT IS THE DEAL/? SO IF ANYONE CAN DO THAT THAT WOULD BE AWESOME..

I'm trying to buy one. Talked with a good Sprint rep on the phone this evening (10/11). He spent about 20 minutes looking up stuff on the 6700. His version is that the phones went to the stores for general public sales but maybe should not have. There is a SW issue that created the recall. Evidently the phone is ok for the "business connection" (whatever that is) but the problem is in general use. He has little more info. When asked, his guess is another month. I think I like it but I'm just waiting another month since I've had this old phone for 3 years...
Let us know what's going on please.
