the subsidy locks on the phones prevent you from using them in the billing systems cdma carriers use. verizon's version is the a950, which is basically the same, save for a few differences.

If anyone has sucessfully done this (a verizon phone on a sprint account) I'd be interested to find out how. I work for sprint, and have yet to do it, regardless what system we use for activations.

Theoretically, being that both the A920 and A950 are the same hardware, you should be able to use either phone with the other wireless carrier. The real issue at stake is the firmware ie. the software that's preloaded into the handset by Samsung given to them by the wireless carrier. Each wireless carrier's firmware contains pertenant information regarding PRLs/IRDBs and programming specific to a wireless carrier ie Sprint Power Vision and Verizon Wireless VCast. I have yet to see someone successfully flash a Samsung A920 with the Verizon Wireless firmware.
