I would like to know if any of the phones in the store have full bluetooth capabilities.

I bought mine at a Verizon store and have successfully paired it with my Powerbook. As far as what OBEX is, I am not sure the extent of the ability to exchange files, but I have successfully moved pictures from my Mac to my phone using the built in Bluetooth File Exchange program. The application window also has folders for Audio, mixedmedia, picture, ringtone, video and vst.

Is that what you were asking about?

kbreslaw, as I too am a MAC (12" Powerbook) user, I would really appreciate any info you could offer on how exactly to do this. I did turn on BT on my PB and it found the phone, but I am clueless as to what to do next.

Thanks, Scott

Hey Scott,

First, let me say I've read your reviews and some of your forum replies, and I completely agree with your points of view on the fact that this is a phone, not an MP3 player or camera.

Once your phone is paired with your PB, click on your bluetooth icon in the menu bar at the top of the page, then choose "browse". When the window opens up, make sure "phone" is chosen under device, then double click on your razr. This should open the Bluetooth File Exchange window with the folders I've listed in my previous reply. From that point you just drag the info you want to the right folders and click send. I don't think you can do anything with your contacts, but I'ver dragged and dropped a couple pix to the picture folder and a mi...

Thanks Kevin! I appreciate the instructions as well as your kind words about my reviews and replies. These forums are very diverse and people like us ("please just let my phone work wherever I am and heck with the frills") seem to be in the minority.

I just tried pairing my phone to the PB, but for some reason my PB is not finding it. Hmm, maybe I need to re-boot the phone and pb and try again....

Thanks again Kevin, much appreciated.

Kevin, quick update. I am "paired" now! As for the phonebook, personally, I don't need this feature. I use VZW's "back-up assistant" and I LOVE IT!

Thanks again, Scott

Hey, my pleasure. Actually, a lot of the people on this site, bitching and moaning about what this phone does and doesn't do are the minority. Most of the people that will buy this phone and love it don't even know a site like this exists. But you know what they say, "Meet frequently with those people that have vastly different points of view than you."

Glad I could help with the phone and your PowerBook.

BTW, thanks for the "Back-up Assistant" info. How did I not know this exists? Just signed up for it and backed-up all my phone numbers. It is great and well worth the $1.99 a month. My Verizon bill is about $600 a month, $602 gives me huge peace of mind.

Thanks again.

Glad that I could return the favor Kevin! I am surprised that VZW does not promote back up assistant more! One of my favorite features of it is the ability update or add a phone number via the web intergace versus the phone. For my eyes, this is much easier. The only downside that I have found is that you can't (or I have not found a way) to insert pauses or waits.

I did put it on my wife and son's phone as well as mine of course. For me, its peace of mind if I lose my phone or have to change units quickly.

All the best, Scott

When entering a phone number on the phone itself, there is a dedicated "insert pause" feature.

When entering the number, after you have entered one or more digits, look at "options" on the right soft key. I think it is option 3, insert pause.

Thanks Jay, but we were talking about editing the phone number on backup assistant on the internet. When you try to update your number via that internet on Back-up Assistant, there is no option for inserting pauses.

Ops.... thought I had an answer. Well, at least there IS a way, though it means doing a edit on each phone.

Hmmmm... Thanks guys, I suspected that the store phones had limited bluetooth capabilities, but it seems that's not necessarily true.

I got mine from the store and I can't seem to use OBEX. My bluetooth software says the only service supported by the phone is modem. I am guessing since the PC is not a headset, it doesn't look for handsfree, which is obviously there. So I think it varies.

I think this may also be a Mac thing. Gotta love Mac's.
